Abstract

Educators’ qualifications are of two types in South Africa, while the common one is a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) those who already have graduated with other degrees enrol for a 1-year Postgraduate certificate (PGCE) for those who have already graduate with other degrees  . The problem of PGCE teachers is that they are not well grounded in pedagogics like B.Ed ones. This problem gets compounded as the pass-rate declines in schools with more PGCE teachers than B.Ed qualified ones. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors beyond the decline in pass-rate within the schools where there are more PGCE teachers than B.Ed teachers. This study sampled 11 participants comprised of 5 PGCE teachers, 5 B.Ed teachers, and 1 circuit manager from Manyeleti circuit in Mpumalanga province of South Africa, for semi-structured interviews. This study adopts social learning theory, and it marks its contribution to literature by giving some insights on the negativity of preferring one kind of qualification in terms of employment instead of embracing the diversity. Findings entail that PGCE teachers are unreasonably favoured in Mpumalanga province and that contributes to low pass-rate. Then, data will hereby be thematically analysed during this explorative study. Keywords: PGCE; B.Ed; pedagogics; pass-rate; employment

Abstract

The increase in online gaming among adolescents has an impact on social aspects, including direct social interaction, empathy, and social control. However, empirical studies on the extent of the influence of online gaming addiction on adolescent social behavior in the local context are still limited. This study aims to determine the effect of online game addiction on the social behavior of adolescents in Ciracas Village, East Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method and simple linear regression analysis technique. The sample in this study consisted of 100 adolescents selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire with indicators referring to aspects of online game addiction according to Groves and the concept of social action according to Max Weber. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant influence between online game addiction and adolescent social behavior with a coefficient of determination of 92.4%. This indicates that a higher level of online game addiction is associated with lower levels of social behavior quality. These results support the notion that excessive online gaming may hinder the development of adolescents’ social identity and lead to dependency on the virtual world. The study is expected to provide useful insights for parents, educators, and policymakers in designing monitoring strategies and digital education that encourage adolescents to use technology wisely and maintain balance in their daily lives Keywords: Online Game Addiction, Social Behavior, Adolescents, Social Interaction, Social Action

Abstract

21st-century learning requires learners to have communication skills, collaboration, and active participation. These skills strengthen civic participatory abilities. This study aims to analyze the use of the cooperative learning model, the Window Shopping type. The goal is to improve civic participatory skills by strengthening communication and collaboration in Pancasila education. The research uses a qualitative case study approach at SMP Negeri 12 Depok. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis was conducted qualitatively, using a descriptive approach. The results showed that applying the cooperative learning model, the Window Shopping type, encourages learners to interact, argue, and work together in a democratic learning atmosphere. The learning process becomes more participatory, reflective, and collaborative. These changes strengthen communication, collaboration, and civic participation. Thus, the cooperative learning model, Window Shopping type, is effective for developing civic participatory skills in Pancasila education for 21st-century learners. Abstract

The rapid development of technology has facilitated access to information and influenced the pattern of people's economic activities, including in the field of buying and selling. Trade that was originally carried out conventionally has now begun to shift to digital platforms, especially social media. This study aims to examine the use of social media in online buying and selling activities by business actors in Serang City. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation of six online business actors. The results showed that online buying and selling activities through social media are generally carried out as a hobby and spare time filler, not as a main job. Businesses utilize various platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and pay attention to the visual quality of products to attract consumers. Interestingly, consumers' decision to buy products is not solely based on need, but is also influenced by popular trends. This phenomenon shows that social media not only serves as a marketing tool, but also influences people's consumptive behavior. Keywords: Social Media, Online Buying and Selling, Society.

Abstract

This study examines social support for breast cancer patients at the Humanis Shelter in Bandung City with a focus on four forms of support according to Sarafino & Smith (2011): emotional, appreciation, instrumental and informational support. This study describes the role of the shelter in providing social support using qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. The purpose of this study was to describe the four forms of social support provided and their impact on patients. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with administrators and patients at the shelter, participatory observation and secondary data conducted from March to June 2025. The results of the study indicate that social support has been provided comprehensively, namely emotional support is provided through counseling and religious activities; appreciation support in the form of verbal appreciation and recreation; instrumental support includes logistical and administrative services, while information support is delivered through social media and counseling activities. These findings reinforce the importance of integrating social support into shelter services to improve the quality of life of patients. The weaknesses found lie in the suboptimal structured counseling and routine recreational activities. This study provides suggestions for further examining the effectiveness of each form of support and comparisons between shelters in providing social support. Abstract

This study aims to understand human resource management (HRM) in the livestock unit of the Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School. This study using a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of three sources: managers, active students, and alumni who were selected purposively. The results of the study show that HRM is integrated with the “3 Ur” values (ma'ur, idle land, unemployment) covering five main aspects. First, open recruitment without formal selection based on willingness to learn and readiness to adapt. Second, training is carried out through learning by doing with the assistance of senior students and intergenerational knowledge transfer. Third, a systematic work rotation system from barn maintenance, feeding, waste management, to marketing. Fourth, division of responsibilities through a participatory daily evaluative forum (post-dawn recitation). Fifth, rewards in the form of greater trust and responsibility as well as business capital support, while guidance is educational in nature through the addition of tasks. This practice is effective by applying the “3 Ur” principle, which emphasizes the optimization of time, land, and resources, supported by mentoring based on role models and a spiritual approach. Even without a formal managerial system, this model has proven to be productive and sustainable in shaping the character of students who are skilled, have social-spiritual awareness, and can be a reference for other institutions. Abstract

This study aims to explore the processes of moral reasoning (moral judgment) among students in the context of religious character education at MTsN 2 Bandar Lampung and to identify the factors that influence it. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved 28 eighth-grade students, teachers, and the school principal, selected purposively. Data were collected through participatory observation of religious activities, semi-structured interviews, moral vignettes, and document analysis. Data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. In contrast, data validity was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The findings show that students’ moral judgment develops through the integration of religious experiences, spiritual habituation, and teacher role modelling. In social studies learning, activities such as socio-religious discussions, reflections on justice, and linking social phenomena to Islamic moral principles are essential for fostering students’ ethical decision-making abilities. Religious practices serve as reflective spaces for students to evaluate their actions in light of ethical and religious considerations. Honesty and justice emerge as the primary foundations of their moral reasoning, indicating a shift from the conventional to the post-conventional stage. Thus, students’ moral judgment is shaped not only by religious rituals but also by contextual and reflective social studies instruction. The integration of religious and social values strengthens the role of the madrasah as a space for cultivating transcendental morality and social awareness, demonstrating the relevance of Rest’s Four Component Model. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between ecological literacy and the environmental awareness of students at SMAN 28 Jakarta Adiwiyata School. The research method used a survey with a quantitative approach and statistical analysis. The population in this study was all students in grades XI and XII, with a sample size of 84 students using stratified random sampling. Data collection techniques used tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of ecological literacy testing, it was found that the correlation coefficient value was 0.717. This correlation coefficient is positive, indicating a meaningful unidirectional relationship. That is, high ecological literacy values will also increase students' environmental awareness, which is measured based on attitudes towards energy, air, the social environment, flora and fauna, and waste management. The results of the simple linear regression test show that there is a significant influence between ecological literacy and students' environmental awareness, with a coefficient of determination of 0.514, which means that the influence of the ecological literacy variable on environmental awareness is 51.4%, while 48.6% is determined by other variables. These findings form the basis for strategic recommendations for the management of Adiwiyata Schools and education policymakers to continue developing effective environmental literacy programs that support environmental sustainability through character building and shaping students' attitudes. Abstract

This study examines street vendors' perceptions of their children's formal education at the Cileungsi Fly Over Market, Bogor Regency, West Java. Street vendors not only struggle to meet their daily economic needs but also have to make important decisions regarding their children's educational future. This study aims to determine how vendors view formal education as a means to improve their families' social and economic lives and to identify the factors influencing these perceptions. This study used a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were street vendors operating around the Cileungsi Fly Over Market. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model that included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that vendors' perceptions of their children's formal education are influenced by their parents' educational background, family economic situation, past experiences, and social environment. While some vendors held a positive view of formal education, others doubted its relevance to their lives. Keywords: Street vendors, children's formal education, the Cileungsi Fly Over Market.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine how the implementation of TPACK-based FGDs can improve students' creative thinking skills. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of this research were 32 students from class IX D and 1 Pancasila education teacher. The saturated sampling technique used in this study, meaning all students (32 students) were sampled. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used an interactive model, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The results of the study indicate that TPACK-based focus group discussion learning can improve students' creative thinking skills in Pancasila education by integrating technology (online collaborative platforms), pedagogy (focus group discussions), and Pancasila content (tolerance on social media) to create meaningful learning experiences. Through this model, students can be encouraged to actively analyze problems, solve problems creatively, and interact with Pancasila materials using digital tools, which ultimately improves students' creativity skills. The implication is that teachers need to master the integration of technology in learning, schools must provide support for facilities and training, and the curriculum needs to be designed to be more contextual and innovative. Keywords: Focus Group Discussion Method, TPACK, Civics Education, Creative Thinking Skill
