Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. Despite the government's iron supplement programs, adherence to Iron-Folic Acid (IFA) tablets remains low due to side effects, cultural myths, and lack of contextual education. In the digital era, online communities serve as a new platform for sharing experiences and information about pregnancy. This study aims to explore the perceptions, practices, and barriers faced by pregnant women in managing anemia using a netnographic approach within digital communities. This qualitative study used netnography to collect data from five digital platforms (Facebook groups, parenting forums, Instagram, Twitter/X, and YouTube) between January and March 2025. Data were analyzed using Braun & Clarke’s thematic analysis approach. From 342 analyzed posts, three major themes emerged: (1) pregnant women's perceptions of anemia and concerns about fetal impacts, (2) practices related to IFA consumption and iron-rich diets influenced by food myths, and (3) barriers such as nausea, gastrointestinal side effects, misinformation, and lack of empathetic healthcare services. On the other hand, digital communities provided social support and adaptive strategies through shared narratives. Netnography offers authentic insights into the nutritional behavior dynamics of pregnant women. Community-based digital education, incorporating storytelling and peer experiences, can enhance adherence to IFA supplementation. This study highlights the need for empathetic health communication strategies and the engagement of influencers from digital mother communities. Limitations include lack of validation of user narratives and restricted platform coverage. Mixed-method studies are recommended to further explore sociocultural contexts.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health is a strategic issue in global health development, as reproductive problems during adolescence significantly impact quality of life, education, and future productivity. Bibliometric analysis is essential to map research trends and identify the dominant topics in the global scientific literature. This study aims to analyze publication trends, author collaboration networks, and dominant keywords in adolescent reproductive health research using a bibliometric approach. A comprehensive search was conducted in the Scopus database using the keyword “adolescent reproductive health” for publications from 2000 to 2024. Data were analyzed using VOSviewer software to generate visual maps of collaboration and keyword co-occurrence. A total of 1,284 articles were identified. There has been a significant increase in publications since 2015. Major contributing countries include the United States, India, and Indonesia. Dominant keywords include "contraception", "sexual education", and "pregnancy prevention". There is a growing global interest in adolescent reproductive health, but geographic disparities in research collaboration remain. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and researchers in developing future intervention strategies and research priorities.

Abstract

Massage is a good, useful and healthy therapy for your baby. Apart from strengthening the bond between parent and child, baby massage also helps the child's growth and development to be better. Baby massage is also an expression of affection between parents and children through touching the skin which can have a tremendous impact on physical, emotional and growth development. Baby massage is also interpreted as a therapy that has been carried out by parents in the past and is popular as an art of care. Currently, baby massage is starting to be developed, for which a lot of research has been carried out. Baby massage is also a type of stimulation that can be done on babies to stimulate various developments that babies must go through, including motor development. Method The type of research used is descriptive quantitative with a cross sectional design. The research was conducted at PMB Supadmi Irianto in January 2025. The sample used in this research was 30 respondents. The sample size was determined using accidental sampling technique.

Abstract

The Family Planning Program (KB) is one of the strategic efforts to reduce birth rates and improve the health quality of mothers and families. One of the most widely used long-term contraceptive methods is the implant. The inflammatory response after implant insertion is a physiological reaction of the body to tissue trauma caused by the incision. If not properly managed, these complaints can cause anxiety, reduce comfort, and potentially affect the satisfaction and continuity of implant use among prospective acceptors. Ginger contains active compounds such as gingerol, shogaol, and zingerone, which have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant effects. Education on the use of ginger as a supportive therapy after implant insertion can be a safe, inexpensive, and easy-to-apply non-pharmacological alternative for the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of education on the use of ginger for post-implant anti-inflammatory purposes among prospective implant contraceptive acceptors in Bangsri Village, Karanganyar. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 17 prospective implant contraceptive acceptors using total sampling. The intervention consisted of counseling on the use of ginger for anti-inflammation after implant placement. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Analysis was performed using a t-test (paired t-test). The results of the study showed that before education, most respondents (41.2%) had insufficient knowledge. After the intervention, there was a significant increase, with 64.7% of respondents having good knowledge. The average knowledge score increased from 56.47 to 82.94 (p=0.000). The conclusion of the study is that providing education on the use of ginger for anti-inflammatory purposes after IUD insertion can increase mothers' knowledge of non-pharmacological treatments. Support from health workers, cadres, and families is needed in providing health information.

Abstract

Postpartum blues is a common psychological condition affecting postpartum women worldwide. WHO (2018) reports a global prevalence of 3–8%, with 50% of cases occurring among individuals aged 20–50 years. In Asia, the prevalence is considerably higher, ranging from 26–85% of postpartum women. Holistic postpartum care is essential, covering physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs. This study aimed to identify factors associated with holistic midwifery care during the First Postpartum Visit (KF I) at TPMB Permata Hati Matesih. A quantitative descriptive study with a retrospective cohort design was conducted using total sampling. Secondary data from January–December 2024 were collected from TPMB Permata Hati Matesih. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods in Microsoft Excel. A total of 41 respondents were included. Most mothers were aged 20–35 years (80%), were housewives (61%), and were multiparous (61%). All respondents (100%) had a history of vaginal delivery. Educational levels were predominantly intermediate and higher (49%). Cultural factors showed that all respondents (100%) received family and community support during the postpartum period. All mothers (100%) exhibited normal fundal height, firm uterine contractions, and postpartum bleeding <500 cc within the first 24 hours. Several maternal factors, including age, parity, education level, cultural support, and physiological postpartum indicators, were associated with the implementation of holistic midwifery care during the first postpartum visit. Strengthening holistic approaches in postpartum services is essential to support maternal well-being.

Abstract

The indicators used to measure a country's health status are maternal and child mortality rates. Underweight children (28.2%) and asphyxia (25.3%) were the leading causes of child mortality in Indonesia in 2022, followed by birth defects, infections, COVID-19, and tetanus in newborns. Maternal factors, placental factors, and congenital factors are the causes of respiratory disorders in newborns. Neonatal asphyxia is the failure of a baby to breathe spontaneously and regularly immediately after birth. Neonatal asphyxia that is not treated properly will be followed by multiple organ failure. The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of neonatal asphyxia at the Dian Pertiwi Maternity Hospital in Karanganyar Regency. The research method used was descriptive observational. The population in this study consisted of 192 newborns. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, where the samples were those who met the inclusion criteria, namely all babies born in 2022 with a diagnosis of neonatal asphyxia. Research results: of the 192 respondents, 86 respondents (44.8%) experienced neonatal asphyxia. Based on parity characteristics, the majority of babies with asphyxia were born to primiparous mothers (44 or 51.2%) and were in the 20–35 age range (69 respondents or 80.2%). The majority of babies were born within the gestational age range of 37–41 weeks (45 or 52.3%), the majority of babies were born with normal weight (76 or 88.4%), and the majority of babies with asphyxia were born with prolonged labor (75 or 87.2%). Conclusion: Respondents who experienced neonatal asphyxia at RSIA Dian Pertiwi in Karanganyar Regency were 86 babies (44.8%).

Abstract

Toddlers represent a highly vulnerable population to health and nutritional problems due to their rapid growth and development phase. Adequate nutritional status plays a critical role in supporting optimal physical growth, cognitive development, and immune function, thereby enhancing resistance to disease. In contrast, poor nutritional status can increase susceptibility to illness, prolong recovery, and elevate the risk of complications and mortality, particularly among toddlers who are already ill. This study aimed to determine the distribution of nutritional status among ill toddlers so that the findings may serve as baseline information for growth monitoring, nutritional intervention planning, and improvement of the quality of health and nutrition services at PMB Permata Hati Matesih. A quantitative descriptive retrospective cohort design was applied, using total sampling and secondary data collected from January to June 2025. The results showed that 9.52% of toddlers were classified as severely undernourished, 19.05% as undernourished, 69.05% had normal nutritional status, and 2.38% were overweight. These findings indicate that although most ill toddlers had normal nutritional status, a substantial proportion still experienced nutritional problems that require attention. Therefore, future research is recommended to employ analytical or longitudinal designs to further examine causal relationships between nutritional status, frequency of illness, and the effectiveness of pharmacological and complementary therapies in toddlers..
