Abstract

This study analyzes the farming system of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) under a partnership scheme between the Subur Agung Sejahtera Farmers Group and PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk. The main problem addressed is the uncertainty of market access and production costs faced by farmers in cultivating stevia as an alternative sweetener crop. The objective is to assess the cost structure, income, and economic benefits of the partnership. A descriptive analysis method with a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach was employed. Data were collected through surveys, structured interviews, and documentation, involving 10 farmers as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. The findings show that the total production cost per planting season (six months) amounted to IDR 184,786,667, consisting of fixed costs of IDR 13,696,667 and variable costs of IDR 171,090,000. The farming activities generated total revenue of IDR 375,000,000, resulting in a net income of IDR 190,213,333. These results indicate that the contractual partnership provides farmers with stable benefits, especially through guaranteed markets and fair prices. Strengthening cooperation with the company and improving production quality are recommended strategies to further increase farmers’ income.

Abstract

This study examines the legal protection of children born from unregistered marriages in Indonesia, a context where they often face discrimination in inheritance rights despite being normatively linked to their biological fathers. The main problem lies in the limited recognition of their legal status, which undermines the fulfillment of the best interest of the child (BIC) principle as mandated by the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This research aims to analyze the normative framework of Supreme Court Circular Letter (SEMA) No. 3 of 2023 and its role in safeguarding the inheritance rights of children from unregistered marriages. Using a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches, the study relies on primary legal sources such as SEMA No. 3/2023 and relevant secondary literature. The findings show that SEMA No. 3/2023 represents a progressive legal development through the introduction of wasiat wajibah, which provides children with limited access to inheritance rights in accordance with the BIC principle. However, the protection remains partial, focusing mainly on inheritance while neglecting broader aspects of child welfare such as education, health, and social security. The study concludes that although SEMA No. 3/2023 advances child protection in inheritance matters, further regulatory reinforcement is required to ensure holistic protection for children of unregistered marriages.

Abstract

Employee performance is a critical factor in achieving organizational goals, and work control plays an important role in ensuring that performance standards are met. However, in many organizations, including PT. Koyorad Jaya Indonesia, issues such as unclear job descriptions, weak discipline, and limited communication between superiors and subordinates have been observed, potentially hindering optimal performance. This study aims to examine the effect of work control on employee performance at PT. Koyorad Jaya Indonesia. A quantitative approach with descriptive and verification methods was applied, using a structured questionnaire distributed to 46 active employees. The data were analyzed through validity, reliability, descriptive statistics, correlation, and determination tests. The findings reveal that both work control and employee performance are rated in the “very good” category, with mean scores of 4.59 and 4.62, respectively. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination indicates that work control contributes 71.9% to employee performance, while the remaining 28.1% is influenced by other factors not included in this study. These results highlight the strategic importance of effective work control in improving employee performance, suggesting that management should strengthen control practices to sustain productivity and efficiency.

Abstract

This study explores the social challenges experienced by shift workers in a telecommunication company, particularly those working at the Network Operation Center (NOC) of PT Link Net. Shift work is essential for maintaining uninterrupted network operations; however, it often disrupts workers’ ability to balance professional responsibilities with family and social life. The research aims to examine how shift schedules affect interactions with nuclear families, extended families, and community or hobby groups, as well as how workers adapt to these conditions. Using an ethnographic approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation with five shift workers who met the study criteria. Thematic analysis revealed three main shared challenges: difficulty synchronizing schedules with family and friends, feelings of isolation due to limited opportunities for direct social interaction, and the need to allocate specific time to stay connected through digital platforms. These findings highlight how workers redefine “quality time,” shifting its meaning from duration to the depth of interaction. The study suggests that workplace policies should consider more flexible arrangements to support work-life balance and reduce the negative social impacts of shift work.

Abstract

Tax avoidance is a significant concern for governments and regulators, particularly in sectors with substantial financial complexities such as property and real estate. This study aims to empirically investigate the influence of accounting conservatism, capital intensity, and inventory intensity on tax avoidance practices within property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2018 and 2022. Using a quantitative descriptive approach and purposive sampling, the study analyzed 65 financial reports. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed using Eviews Version 12 to examine the relationships among the variables. The findings indicate that accounting conservatism, capital intensity, and inventory intensity collectively affect tax avoidance behaviors. However, when analyzed individually, accounting conservatism does not significantly influence tax avoidance, while both capital intensity and inventory intensity show a significant impact. These results suggest that companies with higher capital and inventory intensity may have more opportunities or incentives to engage in tax avoidance. The study highlights the need for regulators and policymakers to consider industry-specific characteristics such as asset structure when designing tax compliance frameworks. Furthermore, the findings contribute to the understanding of how financial reporting policies and operational factors relate to tax avoidance, offering valuable insights for investors, auditors, and tax authorities.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has led to an increase in cybercrimes, particularly phishing attacks targeting personal data and online accounts. One of the most common modes occurs through broadcast messages on WhatsApp, where victims lose access to their accounts and sensitive information after opening malicious files or links. This study aims to analyze the legal protection for victims of data and account loss through WhatsApp broadcasts based on Article 32 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE Law). Using a normative and empirical juridical approach, data were collected through literature studies and interviews with investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Lampung Regional Police. The results indicate that although Articles 30, 32, and 35 of the ITE Law provide a partial legal framework, they do not comprehensively regulate phishing activities, leading to legal uncertainty for victims. The study recommends that the government harmonize the ITE Law with the 2022 Personal Data Protection Law and strengthen preventive measures through public education and digital security awareness programs.

Abstract

Criminal acts may occur concurrently (concursus), as seen in cases combining the falsification of marital status and domestic neglect. This study examines the judicial considerations in sentencing perpetrators of concursus delicti between the crime of falsifying marital status and domestic neglect, as reflected in Decision No. 287/Pid.B/2023/PN.Mgl, and evaluates whether the imposed sentence fulfills the principle of justice. This research employs a normative legal method using statute and conceptual approaches, with data collected through literature studies comprising primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The analysis was conducted qualitatively to interpret legal norms and judicial reasoning. The findings reveal that the judges based their decisions on juridical, philosophical, and sociological considerations, reflecting efforts to achieve fairness for both the perpetrator and the victim. The three-year imprisonment sentence was deemed proportionate, balancing deterrence and rehabilitation. However, justice for the victim remains incomplete due to the absence of explicit legal provisions on compensation for victims of domestic neglect. The study concludes that future sentencing should not only ensure legal certainty but also emphasize restorative and victim-oriented justice within Indonesia’s criminal justice system.

Abstract

Freedom of the press in Indonesia is constitutionally guaranteed under Article 28F of the 1945 Constitution as a vital pillar of democracy and freedom of expression. However, this freedom is often misused by individuals posing as journalists to commit extortion, thereby undermining the integrity of the press. This study aims to analyze the form of criminal liability imposed on individuals who abuse the journalist profession to conduct extortion accompanied by threats, as regulated in Article 368 of the Indonesian Criminal Code. Using a normative legal research method with a literature-based approach, this study examines legal doctrines, scholarly works, and relevant legislation, including the Press Law and the Criminal Code. The findings indicate that the principle of lex specialis derogat legi generali cannot be applied to such cases because extortion is a general crime, not a press dispute. Therefore, criminal liability falls entirely under the jurisdiction of general criminal law, not the Press Law. The study concludes that the misuse of journalistic attributes as tools for extortion eliminates press privilege and must be prosecuted as an ordinary criminal offense to safeguard press integrity and uphold legal certainty.

Abstract

The rapid growth of higher education in Indonesia highlights the importance of understanding personal factors that support students’ potential development. Grounded in mindset and self-actualization theories, this study aims to examine the relationship between growth mindset and self-actualization among university students in Yogyakarta. This research employed a quantitative correlational design involving 124 students aged 18–24 years from various public and private universities selected through total sampling. The instruments used were the Growth mindset Scale (Chen, Ding, & Liu, 2021; Indonesian adaptation) and the Self-Actualization Scale adapted from Pratiwi (2003). Both instruments demonstrated strong psychometric properties after item validation (17 items for growth mindset and 53 items for self-actualization). Data analysis using SPSS 22.0 for Windows included normality testing and linearity testing, confirming that the data met parametric assumptions. The results of the Pearson product–moment correlation revealed a positive and significant relationship between growth mindset and self- actualization (r = .638, p < .001). This indicates that students with higher growth mindset levels tend to exhibit greater self-actualization. The findings reinforce the theoretical notion that a growth-oriented belief system fosters persistence, self- awareness, and optimal self-development in academic contexts. Practical implications emphasize the need to integrate growth mindset–enhancing strategies into both curricular and extracurricular programs, including workshops, mentoring, and organizational activities that promote continuous personal growth.

Abstract

This study analyzes a court decision that confiscated a motor vehicle used in a narcotics crime for the state, as regulated in Article 101 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. The main problem lies in determining the criminal liability of the perpetrator and assessing whether the confiscation of the vehicle meets the principle of legal certainty, especially when the ownership of the vehicle is unclear and may belong to a third party. This research employs a normative juridical approach, combining statutory and conceptual analyses based on secondary legal materials. The findings show that the perpetrator’s criminal liability was established through the fulfillment of legal capacity, intent (mens rea), and absence of justifying or excusing reasons. However, the court’s decision to confiscate the vehicle failed to ensure legal certainty because ownership was not clearly verified in the trial process. This study contributes to the discourse on the protection of third-party property rights and emphasizes the need for judicial consistency in applying the principle of legal certainty in narcotics-related confiscation cases.
