Abstract

The energy sector, including electricity, heat, and transportation, is the main contributor to GHG emissions because it handles 73.2%. Given the increasingly real threat of the climate crisis, a commitment to reduce the amountof emissions released into the environment needs to be made. One of the emission avoidance measures is an energy transition that shifts dependence on fossil energy to other, cleaner energy sources. As a less polluting technology, nuclear energy ensures a pure environment, thereby enhancing human well-being. Nuclear energy provides and develops greater efficiency and adaptability. It provides access to cheap, reliable, carbon-free energy for industrialized and developing countries. Sixty gigatons of carbon emissions avoided over the last 50 years because of nuclear energy. This form of energy distributes a lot of energy without releasing a lot of contaminants. The criterion of technical advancement must be considered when determining the relationship between the use of nuclear energy and carbon footprint because it can lead to the production of cleaner and alternative sources of energy while lowering the danger of air pollution. The findings support the hypothesis that nuclear energy use may have a negative effect on carbon footprint. These findings imply that the widespread use of nuclear energy can help minimize environmental pollution because it almost entirely eliminates carbon emissions when compared to traditional power plants that use non-renewable energy.

Abstract

Over half a century has passed, yet ASEAN is again caught between two battling giants. Utilizing a literature review approach, we delve into this issue by focusing on the ASEAN way, which is the machine of ASEAN. Contrary to skeptics' views, the consensus mechanism's negative effects stem more from the non-intervention principle, which limits its utility. However, the key to addressing this issue lies in utilizing agenda to better consensus mechanisms to create a non-interference minimalized forum. The key is that ASEAN member states are willing to fund thousands of forums to achieve consensus on various issues. Indonesia, the nominal leader that habitually hedges between great power and the owner of musyawarah and mufakat used by TAC, is the best actor to initiate this idea. Currently, when ASEAN states are divided and cannot convince, much less help each other, Indonesia's Musyawarah and Mufakat, which brings all voices, including the taboo ones, to the table, could be the key to creating a special forum where ASEAN member states become strategists to help other member but maintain the dignity and autonomy of the helped member. Ultimately, what is usually swept under the rug and hinders the consensus-building process can be minimized, and ASEAN can become a more effective organization

Abstract

Indonesia's existence at the meeting point of three major plates has resulted in the creation of tectonic complexes, especially at plate boundaries located in eastern Indonesia. Lombok Island and its surroundings have an active seismicity zone, namely the Flores back arc and the subduction between the Indo-Australian and Eurasian plates. The existence of active seismicity zones can produce earthquake events. If an earthquake occurs in a marine area, there will be high, destructive sea waves called a tsunami and can endanger safety, for this reason it is necessary to carry out tsunami simulations to map vulnerable areas around the coast. This information can then be used to increase community preparedness so that it can support the government in carrying out Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP). The simulation was carried out by integrating modeling software, namely WinITB v.6.52 and ArcGIS mapping software. The simulation results show that the tsunami in the north of Lombok Island and its surroundings spread towards an azimuth angle of 61° and the tsunami in the south of Lombok Island and its surroundings spread towards an azimuth angle of 80°. The estimated height resulting from the tsunami in the north of Lombok Island and its surroundings is as high as 1.9 m with a dangerous classification, while the height resulting from the tsunami in the south of Lombok Island and its surroundings is as high as 4.7 m with a very dangerous classification. Tsunamis can be generated from active seismic sources, with earthquakes with depths of less than 60 km, dip-slip plate faults and earthquake magnitudes greater than M6.5

Abstract

On September 15, 2021 United States President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison agreed on a new defense pact, called AUKUS . AUKUS can be said to be a continuation of America's strategy in an effort to counteract the development of China's influence in the Indo-Pacific region which has become increasingly massive due to several Asian countries' policies, such as the Nine Dash Line, One China Policy, Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), to economic improvement and significant military annually. Previously, the US had also strengthened the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) cooperation up to Five Eye as an effort to counter China's developments. China, which views the defense pact as a highly irresponsible threat and an open challenge to their growing influence in the Indo-Pacific. This paper will analyze China's influence in the Indo-Pacific Region after the emergence of the formation of the AUKUS alliance . The topics were analyzed using the Regional Security Complex Theory using a qualitative descriptive method. Upon further analysis , it can be seen that there were significant differences in China's influence before and after the formation of the AUKUS alliance in the Indo-Pacific Region.

Abstract

In light of the current global phenomenon, Indonesia is welcoming an increasing number of foreign cultures with ease. This can't be denied alongside the advancement of the inexorably fast globalization time and mechanical improvements that are progressively assisting people with having the option to acquire data rpidly and without any problem. Although it isnot against the law for foreign cultures to enter Indonesia, there are still a lot of Indonesians who are unable to distinguish between these cultures. This leang ds to a decline in nationalism values and a fear of a shift in national ideology, such as Pancasila, which is influencedby foreign cultures. has the potential to jeopardize the existence of the state and nation. The more youthful age is one of the variables that is enormously impacted by the section of this unfamiliar culture assuming it is inappropriate to answer and channel the approaching unfamiliar culture. There are currently a number of distinct generations of young people, beginning with generation X, also known as Millennials, and generation Z, each of which possesses its own set of characteristics. In this case there is a concern that there will be changes and shifts in culture and ideology with the influence of foreign culture and ideology entering Indonesia in the midst of the industrial revolution 4.0 which can threaten the sovereignty and existence of ideologies that are embedded in the Indonesian generation. This study uses qualitative research methods with the aim of seeing the character of each generation of the nation to be able to see and accept the impact of foreign cultural and ideological influences that enter Indonesia which will later have an impact on how to overcome and anticipate shifts in the nation's ideology, namely Pancasila from foreign cultural influences and external ideology that can threaten the sovereignty of Pancasila ideology.

Abstract

Japan is an island nation prone to floods and tsunamis. The mountains that dominate Japan form short rivers with steep slopes. The rivers transport sediment to the plains, creating medium-sized floodplains. Japan's rivers are prone to flash floods due to their steep basin slopes and relatively short lengths. The ratio of peak discharge to watershed area is relatively large, ranging from 10 to 100 times that of major rivers in other countries. The water level rises and falls very quickly. This research aims to find out the Japanese Government's Efforts in Flood Disaster Risk Reduction. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research using purposive sampling technique on the activities of the Overseas Work Lecture (KKLN). Informants appointed as samples are Dr. Aulia Fabianda Anwar Tinumbang from Asisstant Professor. Graduate School of Engineering Kyoto University. KKLN activities are organized by the Defense University Disaster Management Study Program online through the Zoom application. KKDN activities were attended by all 26 Disaster Management Study Program students and also attended by the Head of the Disaster Management Study Program and Disaster Management study program staff.
