Abstract

Background : Beta Thalassemia is a genetic disorder inherited by autosomal recessive and has spread throughout the world, including Indonesia. Beta thalassemia requires lifelong transfusions, which can cause an accumulation of iron in the skin, liver, and kidneys, resulting in a decrease in vitamin D synthesis.Purpose : This study aims to analyze the levels of 25-OH-Vitamin D in beta thalassemia.Method : This study used a cross-sectional design and was conducted at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital from April to July 2021. The population of this study was patients diagnosed with beta thalassemia and non-thalassemia (controls) who met inclusion criteria. This study compared vitamin D levels in beta thalassemia and non-thalassemia patients. Results : This study involved 60 children aged 6 months to 18 years, who were divided into 2 groups: 30 children in the beta thalassemia group and 30 in the non-thalassemia group. In this study, the levels of 25-OH-Vitamin D were lower in beta thalassemia children compared to non-thalassemic children, with a p value =0.012. Children with beta-thalassemia have a 4.33 times higher risk of vitamin D deficiency compared to non-thalassemic children. With a p value =0.023, 25-OH-Vitamin D levels were significantly lower in beta HbE thalassemia children compared to beta thalassemia major children. Conclusion :Levels of 25-OH-Vitamin D in beta thalassemia children were lower than in non-thalassemic children. Levels of 25-OH-Vitamin D in children with beta HbE thalassemia are lower than in children with beta thalassemia major.

Abstract

The attitude of the craftsmen and work station models in embroidery companies that are uncomfortable and safe for the body coupled with work organization that is not yet well organized often causes various problems for the body. The results of previous studies note that there are several angles that need attention: (1) the angle formed between the upper leg and buttocks, (2) the angle formed by the upper arm with the shoulder and (3) the angle formed between the upper arm and the forearm . Based on this, we have designed a work station model that measures the dimensions of the three angles above. However, the model still needs to be tested for community acceptance. The method used in testing the work station model is the acceptance analysis approach using the modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) measurement method so that it can be used to determine the level of user acceptance of the work station model created. This research was conducted in three stages by considering several factors, such as the number of researchers, time and budget of funds. Respondents in this study were embroidery workers who had worked for at least 1 year totaling 100 people from various embroidery industries in the city of Tasikmalaya. Before distributing the questionnaire. Respondents are invited to use the work station model for 45 - 60 minutes to carry out sewing activities in general. Because there is only one work station model, each respondent alternates using the work station model until all respondents use it. The trial process lasted for 20 days, namely per day there were 5 respondents who tested using the work station model. Keywords: TAM; Stasion Kera; Bordir

Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases (henceforth called STD) are infections that are passed through sexual contact, i.e., vaginal, anal, and oral intercourse. The purpose of this research is to analyze contributing factors of the transmission of HIV/AIDS in the behavior of males sex males. This observational analytic research employed the cross-sectional study approach. It involved 148 males who have sex with males; 30 of them were selected as the sample. The data were analyzed by using Kolmogorov Smirnov and Fisher Exact method.A number of studies focusing on males who have sex with males in areas with a low number of HIV case, i.e., in Gorontalo, are limited; most research examines the risk of STD or HIV/AIDS in a prostitution case. The result shows that maintaining reproductive organs by males sex males does not significantly influence the risk of being infected with STD and HIV/AIDS (P=0.586). This is different from the variable of sexual behavior and understanding of the risk of the transmission of the disease. Such factors significantly contribute to the risk of STD with the p-value p=0.005 and P=0.007 respectively.

Abstract

The port is a meeting point where the ships, goods and people embark and disembark, also a gateway for the transformation of the spread of diseases such as dengue fever. The efforts to prevent dengue transmission at ports are to free the port area from the life of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. At the perimeter of the port area of   Gorontalo, the HI and CI gures for 2011-2013 have exceeded the predetermined indicator, namely 0 and at the port, there are many buildings and containers for port activities that can become breeding grounds for larvae. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the results of the Aedes aegypti larva survey in the Perimeter Area in the Port of Gorontalo City are. The novelty of this study is due to research on surveys of Aedes Aegypti larvae around the area in the port . This study aimed to determine the HI and CI numbers and the types of potential breeding sites for Aedes aegypti larvae in the perimeter area of   the port of Gorontalo city. This research was an observational study with a descriptive study approach. Where the samples studied were 25 buildings and 48 containers. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the HI and CI numbers on the perimeter area in the port of Gorontalo city are HI (16%) and CI (12.5%) and the type of potential breeding place for Aedes aegypti larvae are buckets. For this reason, it is hoped that the port of Gorontalo City will close and drain the TPA and the Class III KKP of Gorontalo further to improve the control of Aedes aegypti larvae and mosquitoes. Keywords: Larvae survey; Port; Aedes aegypti

Abstract

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is the cause of liver disease, found in human body fluids such as saliva, vaginal fluids, semen, and blood. HBV can be transmitted through sex, sharing syringes, baby-mother intercourse, and touching involving bodily fluids. The novelty of this study is that it analyzes the potential for hepatitis B transmission using the HBsAg Rapid Screening Test. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential for transmission of hepatitis B to the families of patients with patients. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive type. The examination used was the immunochromatographic method on venous blood samples of 22 families. The results of the study showed that there were households where one member was detected as HBsAg positive, and 18 other households were HBsAg negative. Transmission of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) in the family is as much as 9.09% with the family status of parents and children. It is suspected that children who contracted HBV were the result of close contact that lasted for quite a long time, which allowed HBV particles to move. Moreover, the child lives in the same house with the mother, who takes care of him. The conclusion of this study is that the patient's family who has close contact with hepatitis B sufferers can be infected with hepatitis B.Keywords: Virus; Hepatitis B; Immunochoromatography.
