Abstract

Science education in schools faces various challenges, such as the dominance of teacher-centered lecture methods, a lack of integration between theory and practice, and limited learning facilities. These issues hinder students from developing critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability to modern demands. This study aims to develop a Problem-Project Based Learning (P2BL) model as a solution to address these challenges. The model integrates the strengths of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to create contextual, practical learning experiences that encourage critical thinking among students. A Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE framework is employed to ensure the systematic development of the model. The P2BL model consists of five main components: syntax, reaction principles, social system, support system, and instructional as well as accompanying impacts. The syntax of this model includes stages such as problem definition, experimentation, planning, presentation, and evaluation, supported by multi-directional interactions between instructors and students, as well as collaboration among students. The research findings indicate that implementing the P2BL model enhances academic abilities, practical skills, and the development of attitudes such as teamwork, responsibility, and time management. With its relevance to the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, the P2BL model offers a more interactive, effective, and adaptive learning alternative to improve the quality of Science education in schools.

Abstract

Water has a very important role in everyday life. Apart from humans, other living things also depend on water to survive. But there are still many areas in the world even in Indonesia still experiencing drought or clean water crisis. Therefore, new innovations are needed in producing water. One of the innovations is the atmospheric water generator (AWG) which utilizes the formation of water from air or condensation. The AWG in this research uses thermoelectricity as a cold source. Where thermoelectricity is less noisy, easy to obtain and assemble into a system, has a long service life without requiring maintenance. But thermoelectrics have disadvantages where cooling on thermoelectrics is less efficient. So to overcome this, I as the author use a hydrophobic surface as a condensation surface where it can accelerate condensation and increase the amount of water produced. In this study to see the comparison, tests were carried out using various types and surface areas.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the highest causes of death in Indonesia. One of the factors traffic accidents is caused by vehicles, in this case the braking system. Brakes are a device on a vehicle that functions to reduce the speed by applying friction. The main feature in the braking system is heat dissipation. If the brake overheating, the effectiveness of the braking system will be reduced. In general, there are two types of brakes, but in modern vehicles disc brake more used. In this study, various types of disc brakes will be tested. The designs tested are solid disc brakes, drilled-type disc brakes, and grooved-type disc brakes. The aim of research for determine the most optimal disc brake design. The temperature value on the surface of the disc brake will be measure. The Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used in this study. The validation process is carried out by comparing analytical result and Finite Element Analysis result on solid disc brakes. The speed before braking is 60 km / h. Material used on disc brake is grey cast iron. In the simulation process using Finite Element Analysis, the mesh size used is 3 mm and the number of elements is 255,244 elements. After the analysis was carried out, the temperature value in the grooved-type disc brake design was the smallest value than another with a maximum temperature of 143.56 ºC during braking. Thus, based on the results obtained, the grooved-type disc brake tends to be more optimal.

Abstract

The quality of school education is driven by several factors. These factors encompass school-related elements, pedagogical approaches, learning processes, environmental influences, learning facilities, and the allocation of learning time. It is evident that facilities and infrastructure represent a significant factor in the achievement of students. At SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra, the Shielded Metal Arc Welding technique subject is used as the criterion for the completion of class 11 students. However, observations indicated that student academic outcomes were not ma11mized. This study explores the correlation between the availability of workshop infrastructure and the academic performance of Class 11 students enrolled in the SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) technique at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. The investigation employs a correlational method to analyse the data. This study's population comprises 25 students enrolled in the 11th grade Welding Engineering programme, who utilise the Total Sampling Technique. The findings of the product moment correlation analysis demonstrate that the calculated r value of 0.595 exceeds the r table value of 0.396. It is evident that, with a statistical significance at p = 0.001, lower than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is confirmed. Considering the study’s findings, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, signifying a robust correlation between workshop facilities and learning achievement. The findings of the analysis yielded a coefficient of determination of 35.4%, indicating that the impact of workshop facilities on student learning achievement is 35.4%. Conversely, a residual of 64.6% is attributed to external factors that were not considered in the study.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that has great potential for harnessing and managing solar energy. At present, the technology of converting solar energy into electrical energy such as solar cells still has weaknesses in terms of cost. Therefore, this study aims to test the potential of solar energy by creating a solar home system plant using DVD and Zener diode. This solar home system plant using DVD has the advantage of using low cost and the power generated can be said to be sufficient. In addition, this product can be used as a substitute for solar cells if properly applied. This study uses an experimental method in a quantitative approach. In this study, the independent variable is the structure of the solar panel while the dependent variable is the amount of energy read by the voltmeter. This study uses the photoelectric principle. Where photoelectricity is an electron released from the surface of an object exposed to light. This study was carried out by looking at how much power could be generated by DVD and Zener diode. The results showed that DVD and Zener diode can generate electrical energy, but the results are still too small and a large number of DVDs are needed to generate more energy. So it can be concluded that DVD still cannot replace solar panels, but can be used as a tool to maintain the stability of solar panels.

Abstract

The depletion of fossil energy reserves, especially oil and natural gas, has driven innovations in energy-efficient vehicles, including through the Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE). In developing prototype cars for this competition, driver ergonomics is often overlooked. This study aims to analyze musculoskeletal complaints experienced by prototype car drivers from the Faculty of Engineering at UNP. The main instrument used was the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire, administered to three drivers after they performed a 20-minute static driving simulation. The collected data were analyzed and categorized based on complaint levels. The results showed that the most frequent complaints occurred in the lower back (score 12), followed by the lower neck, buttocks, and hips (score 11). The average overall score was 71.67, indicating a high-risk category. The highest individual score was 89 (Driver 3), and the lowest was 62 (Driver 1). These complaints were caused by the absence of an ergonomic driver seat in the prototype car. The study concluded that the current cockpit design is not ergonomically adequate, posing a risk of injury. Therefore, it is recommended that the design team immediately create a more upright driver seat with thigh support to enhance comfort and reduce musculoskeletal complaints.
