Abstract

Research at the Polytechnic, including thesis work by final year students, could be integrated with the applied statistics’ competencies. This research aims to analyze the integration of applied statistics in the thesis completion of polytechnic student. Research data were collected using scientific questionnaires and structured interviews. Simple linear regression analysis is used as the analyzing method towards research questionnaire’s data. The descriptive results show that the most integrated competency of applied statistics is research’s hypothetical testing, followed by developing research instruments, presenting demographic data, collecting data, and determining the population and sample. The results of simple linear regression analysis with hypothesis testing show that the integration of applied statistics has a positive and significant impact on thesis completion of polytechnic student. These results were reinforced by structured interviews, so that it was found that the positive and significant impact felt by students lay in the better management of their thesis after integrating applied statistics. So, it can be concluded that applied statistics can be more integrated by polytechnic students to improve the management and quality of thesis research.

Abstract

The issue of Childfree has gone viral recently, especially after several cyber influencers such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram revealed that their families had decided not to have children. Childfree itself is a decision made by a married couple not to have children. Indonesia as a country that believes in God makes religion a source of reference for behavior, one of which is in starting a family and having children. The role of religion is certainly very important in efforts to see the problems that occur and take the right solutions so that Childfree can be addressed wisely. This research aims to look at the views of the younger generation towards Childfree and the role of Islam in efforts to prevent the younger generation from being Childfree. Because the condition of the nation in the future will be determined by today's young generation. The research method chosen is a qualitative method using observation, interviews, documentation studies so that you will get in-depth results including the reasons for each research subject. The first pre-field stage, namely preparing a plan, selecting a field, preparing instruments. The second stage is data collection, and the third stage is data processing which consists of data display, analysis, drawing conclusions, and narrating the results. The results of this research showed that 82.35% of the research sample knew about Childfree from the internet, social media and other digital media. There was one sample who was affected by Childfree because they were worried about difficulties in taking care of children, especially due to busyness and economic factors, so they chose to postpone or not even have children. However, the majority of the sample still wants to have children after marriage. The role of religion is very important for all samples because they still remember advice from their teacher/lecture that said "lots of children, lots of luck", so the majority admitted that they still wanted to have children after marriage. In conclusion, there is a view among today's young generation that having children can make their lives difficult, so they choose to postpone and don't want to have children. Even though the number is still a minority/small. Religious views are very important in supporting good understanding for the younger generation.

Abstract

The research aims to conduct a feasibility analysis of the frozen fish business in Beeng Village, Center South Tabukan District to improve the welfare of fishermen. In the feasibility analysis of frozen skipjack tuna business, the BCR value = 5.19. This means that the BCR value is> 1, so this indicator shows that the frozen skipjack tuna business is worth continuing. The NPV value is IDR 37.142.857,- which is positive and the IRR is 94%. This shows that the frozen skipjack tuna business is worth continuing. Meanwhile, in the feasibility analysis of the frozen demersal fish business, the BCR value was 16.43, NPV IDR 72.845.714, IRR 43%. BCR value > 1, NPV is positive, so this business is worth continuing.

Abstract

The Kibuk forest farmer group has been managing Kibuk social forestry for seven years. Capacity building initiatives implemented by the Dempo Region X Forest Management Unit and Hutan Kita Institute have not yet fully enhanced the efficacy of the individual and institutional capacity of the Kibuk forest farmer group, thereby impeding the capacity of the forest farmer group to fulfill its role and function in social forestry governance. This research employs a qualitative verification methodology with a case study strategy. The informants were comprised of individuals engaged in capacity building initiatives and the communities that benefited from these efforts. The findings of this study indicate that the capacity-building initiatives for the Kibuk forest farmer group have not yet fully improved the individual capacity of farmers. While there has been an increase in expertise in non-agricultural fields, knowledge of good social forestry governance and resources, and an improvement in the group's ability to engage in social forestry activities, there are still significant challenges in terms of institutional capacity. These include the lack of a complete social forestry business group structure and a lack of ideas regarding the development of social forestry areas. Members of the Kibuk forest farmer group have not yet been able to assume their own responsibilities. The Kibuk forest farmer group has not yet mastered management and has not yet been able to realize transparency and accountability. The institutional capacity development process of the Kibuk forest farmer group still ignores actual needs assessment, not all action plans and strategies can be implemented, program implementation is limited, monitoring and evaluation are not carried out credibly. The pattern of capacity building remains constrained to the subordinate union of partnership and passive participation of members, and has not yet encompassed a comprehensive and integrated approach. It is necessary to develop an institutional capacity-building model that can enhance the role and function of the Kibuk forest farmer group in implementing social forestry governance principles in an effective manner.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the anticipated level of bankruptcy risk at PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, Tbk, based on the annual financial reports spanning from 2018 to 2020. The data utilized in this analysis comprise the Financial Statements of PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, Tbk for the specified period, accessible through the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, www.idx.com. As PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, Tbk is a publicly traded retail company in Indonesia, its financial statements are publicly accessible. The technical analysis employed in this research utilizes the Altman Z-score method, entailing calculations based on the Altman Z-Score formula. The Z-Score calculation for 2018 yielded a result of 6.271, indicating placement within the safe zone. In 2019, it slightly decreased to 6.190, still within the safe zone. Subsequently, in 2020, it experienced a slight increase to 6.211. The Z-Score results for the period spanning 2018 to 2020 suggest that PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, Tbk can be classified as a financially healthy company with no evident potential for bankruptcy. However, considering the advancing technology and evolving consumer behaviors, the company may face bankruptcy risks if it fails to adapt and expand its operations into e-commerce platforms.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the experiences of students in using WhatsApp for English language learning, particularly in the context of speaking. The study was conducted with 34 third-semester students from the STIPARY Tourism Academy of Yogyakarta. A mixed-method approach was employed, wherein the researcher utilized a questionnaire to gather quantitative data. Additionally, qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 9 randomly selected students and observations during the use of WhatsApp in speaking lessons. The students' experiences with WhatsApp were assessed over 3 months. The questionnaire underwent validity and reliability testing, focusing on the student's learning experiences in speaking from three aspects: linguistic (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and fluency), psychological (motivation and self-confidence), and environmental (flexible learning, collaborative learning, access to learning materials, and challenges related to negative reactions from the surrounding environment during speaking practice). Data analysis results indicated that students perceived positive experiences regarding the use of WhatsApp in speaking, addressing the aforementioned aspects. However, further research with a broader sample size is warranted to validate these findings

Abstract

Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is a method for enhancing language teaching methods autonomously, utilizing language learning apps conveniently and flexibly. Engaging and interactive learning methods, such animation, images, and audio, can effectively communicate knowledge and enhance memory retention by being easily comprehensible and stimulating human senses. Innovative solutions are required to address the challenges of limited access, flexibility, and pedagogical assistance in Distance Education. This study utilizes the Design Based Research (DBR) technique to create Mobile Technology, a mobile application tailored for vocabulary acquisition. The development process consists of cycles of design, execution, and evaluation, emphasizing the requirements and environment of the learner. The implementation of VocUp Mobile Technology was successful and proven its efficiency in enhancing vocabulary proficiency. This program facilitates interactive and adaptable learning by incorporating elements that respond to user requirements and learning circumstances. Mobile technology has enhanced vocabulary acquisition by offering a more adaptable and convenient approach, addressing common obstacles in distance education. This facilitates the adoption of advanced and student-focused learning methods. This Mobile Technology provides a practical and efficient answer for vocabulary acquisition issues in a university setting, particularly in Distance Education. This program enhances language skills and promotes the creation of flexible and all-encompassing learning methods through its responsive and educational approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Discovery learning learning model using table tennis games on the learning outcomes of 5th grade elementary school students. This type of research is quantitative research in the form of a Pre-Experimental Design with the type of One Group Pretest-Posttest. The population in this study were 5th grade elementary school students. The sample used in this study was 5th grade elementary school students consisting of 40 students. In determining the pretest and posttest, a validity test is carried out on the instrument questions which have been validated by the validator. The experimental method was used with a single group control pretest-posttest design to compare the learning outcomes of students who used the discovery learning method with groups of students who using conventional learning methods. The results showed that the group of students who took part in discovery learning through table tennis experienced a significant increase in learning outcomes compared to the group of students who received conventional learning. These findings indicate that the use of the discovery learning model with a table tennis game approach can be an effective alternative in improving the quality of learning in grade 5 elementary schools. After obtaining data from the results of the pretest and posttest, it was analyzed using the t-test. Obtained tcount = 25.817 with a significant level of 5% of 0.256. Because tcount = 25.81 > ttable = 0.256. Then Ha is accepted, this shows that the Discovery learning learning model with table tennis games has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Grade 5 SD students. Based on the results of this research, the suggestion that can be conveyed is that the Discovery learning learning model using table tennis games can be used as an alternative for teachers to teach on the theme of my hero and other learning.
