Abstract

The rapid advancements in information and communication technology (ICT) have transformed the education sector, particularly in integrating digital tools into teaching practices. This study explores the utilization of Google Workspace for Education in teaching English as a foreign language at Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five English lecturers. The findings reveal that tools like Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Meet, and Drive. Enhance teaching efficiency, foster collaboration, and improve student engagement. These tools support diverse teaching learning activities, including material preparation, interactive learning, and formative and summative assessments. Moreover, the accessibility of Google Workspace allows learning to take place anytime and anywhere, aligning with the demands of modern education. This study underscores the importance of lecturers developing ICT skills to leverage digital tools effectively and create innovative learning environments. The integration of Google Workspace significantly contributes to improving the quality of English language teaching learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of block learning and learning context on vocational high school students’ academic achievement, with learning interest as a moderating variable. The learning context in this study includes learning facilities and the learning environment. The research is motivated by the persistently low learning outcomes among vocational students nationally, and the need for a teaching strategy that is responsive to the characteristics of vocational learners. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. Data analysis techniques included multiple regression and moderation analysis, using data from 49 students at SMK PGRI 1 Kudus as the sample. The results showed that block learning had a significant positive effect on student achievement. The learning environment also had a significant influence, whereas learning facilities did not show a significant effect. Learning interest was found to moderate the relationship between block learning and learning outcomes, but did not moderate the influence of learning facilities or the learning environment. Simultaneously, block learning, facilities, and environment contributed 56.2% to learning outcomes, increasing to 65.6% when learning interest was included in the model.This study highlights the importance of teaching approaches that go beyond instructional strategies to also incorporate contextual and psychological aspects of students. Practically, schools are encouraged to design instructional systems that integrate block learning models with efforts to foster student interest and create supportive learning environments.

Abstract

Research and Development (R&D) is a systematic approach aimed at producing practical solutions through validated processes. In education, R&D is essential for developing instructional media, teaching tools, and learning models tailored to contextual needs. This study reviews the concept of R&D, the most widely adopted models, and their implementation stages through a literature-based method. Five major models are analyzed: Borg and Gall, ADDIE, 4D, Hannafin & Peck, and Dick and Carey. Each is examined in terms of procedural structure, advantages, limitations, and applicability in educational settings. Despite their distinct frameworks, all models share core phases: needs analysis, design, development, evaluation, and implementation. The analysis shows that Borg and Gall suits large-scale iterative studies, ADDIE is valued for its simplicity and flexibility, 4D is effective for instructional tool development, Hannafin & Peck aligns with technology-based media, and Dick and Carey supports systematic instructional design. The findings emphasize the importance of selecting models based on goals, product complexity, and resource availability. This article contributes to guiding researchers and educators in applying appropriate R&D methodologies in educational practice.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between critical thinking skills and argumentative writing ability among eleventh-grade students at SMAK Fransiskus Xaverius Ruteng. In the Indonesian educational context, students often face challenges in producing well-structured and logically supported arguments, partly due to limited emphasis on critical thinking in traditional teaching methods. Argumentative writing requires not only language proficiency but also the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information. This research aims to determine whether a significant correlation exists between these two essential academic competencies. The study employed a quantitative correlational research design involving 30 students from the Language Program. Critical thinking skills were measured using the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA), while argumentative writing ability was assessed through a standardized writing test evaluated by a rubric. Data analysis using Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation and SPSS Version 25 revealed a very strong positive correlation (r = 0.813) between critical thinking and argumentative writing. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.661) indicated that 66.1% of the variance in writing performance can be attributed to critical thinking abilities, while the remaining 33.9% is influenced by other factors such as language proficiency and prior writing experience. The findings confirm a significant positive correlation between critical thinking and argumentative writing, supporting the integration of critical thinking strategies into writing instruction. Students with higher critical thinking scores generally produced more coherent, logical, and persuasive texts. The study suggests that educators should incorporate techniques such as argument mapping, debates, and peer review sessions to enhance both cognitive and linguistic development.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the types of figures of speech used in online political news on the CNN Indonesia website and to analyze their relevance as learning resources and Indonesian language teaching modules for ninth-grade junior high school speech students in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. The main problem in this study is the forms of figurative language use in CNN Indonesia's online political news and how this relates to the development of speech teaching materials. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis approach to deeply understand the phenomenon of figurative language use in news texts and its potential in educational contexts. Data collection techniques were carried out through reading, recording, and archiving online political news containing elements of figurative language. The results show that CNN Indonesia's political news contains various figures of speech (figurative comparison) and satire, including two hyperboles, six metaphors, one periphrase, one irony, one symbolic figure of speech, and one allegory. These findings indicate a richness of language styles in political news that can be utilized to develop students' language skills. A deep understanding of this figure of speech is essential in helping students critically interpret news texts and construct communicative speeches. Therefore, CNN Indonesia's online news, rich in figures of speech, is considered relevant as teaching material for Indonesian language learning in ninth-grade junior high school students within the Merdeka Curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study was prompted by the low short story writing skills observed among students at Sriwijaya State Sports Senior High School. The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of applying the Problem-Based Learning method integrated with Wattpad as a learning medium on improving students' short story writing skills. A quasi-experimental approach was employed using a pre-test–post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 46 eleventh-grade students selected randomly, with 31 assigned to the control group (conventional learning) and 15 to the experimental group (PBL-Wattpad). Data were collected through short story writing tests administered before and after the intervention, and were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated an average score improvement of 26 points in the experimental group (from 57 to 83), which was higher than the control group’s gain of 11 points (from 50 to 61). The Paired Sample t-Test and Independent Sample T-Test yielded p-values < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference. The improvement encompassed aspects of creativity, plot development, structure, and language use. These findings demonstrate that the integration of Problem Based Learning and Wattpad is effective in enhancing students’ short story writing skills by fostering a contextual and collaborative learning environment, while also offering authentic feedback from readers. Practically, Indonesian language teachers are encouraged to adopt this strategy to promote both creative and digital literacy at the high school level.

Abstract

his study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model based on serial images on student learning outcomes in Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) subjects. The method used is quantitative research with a pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class (VIII-2) which received treatment using the TSTS model with serial images, and the control class (VIII-1) with conventional learning. The test instruments consisted of multiple-choice questions that had been validated and were reliable. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity, and independent t-tests. The results showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, with the average score of the experimental class (90.00) higher than that of the control class (85.27). In conclusion, the TSTS learning model based on serial images was effective in improving the Civic Education learning outcomes of eighth-grade students. This study recommends the use of this model as an innovative and interesting learning alternative for students.

Abstract

The Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) model is an educational method designed to cultivate students’ critical thinking through a guided exploration process. This study aims to investigate how the GDL model influences the critical thinking development of high school students. The research method employed is a literature review, involving an analysis of five relevant scholarly articles focusing on GDL implementation in learning environments. The results demonstrate that the GDL approach effectively enhances students’ ability to think critically—particularly in evaluating problems, analyzing data, and drawing reasoned conclusions. Furthermore, students involved in GDL-based instruction tend to be more engaged, capable of constructing hypotheses, and able to carry out simple investigative tasks. These improvements contribute not only to better academic results but also to the growth of reflective and analytical thinking, which are essential competencies in today’s digital era. Based on the findings, the GDL model is highly recommended as a teaching strategy that supports the advancement of students' critical thinking abilities within the school setting.

Abstract

Globalization is indicated by the development of science and technology (IPTEK) which is increasingly advanced and rapid. It presents the era of digitalization which has a negative influence on one's attitudes and behavior if not used properly it will fade spiritual values ​​in individuals such as brawls, bullying and so on. So that education is believed to be able to build the spirituality of students for the better. In eradicating this, MTs Islahiyah Kalitidu carries out a process of internalizing the spiritual values ​​of students to form the morals of madrasas through various programs that have been prepared to have faith and hold fast to Islamic spiritual values.This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Data was collected by means of interview, observation and documentation techniques. Techniques in data analysis include data, data presentation to see the overall picture or certain parts of the research and drawing conclusions to obtain evidence that supports the data collection stage.Based on the research conducted, the following results were obtained: First, the strategy in the formation of akhlaq karimah by doing daily habituation through religious activities and adding hours of learning PAI material through the habituation method, the exemplary method, the lecture method, the punishment method and the reward. Second, Supporting Factors in the formation of morals, namely the process of daily habituation, good interaction between teachers and students, supporting facilities and infrastructure. Third, inhibiting factors, family environment, school environment and information media.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has made a significant contribution to education, especially in improving the quality of the learning process. The study aims to develop and test the feasibility, student response, and effectiveness of using interactive Flipbook-based Biotechnology E-modules on Fermentation Technology material. The research was conducted in April-July 2025 at Medan State University using the ADDIE development model. The research instrument was an assessment questionnaire involving material experts, media experts, question experts, and students. The validation results showed that the developed E-module was rated very feasible by media experts (92.5%), feasible by material experts (78.5%), and very feasible by question experts (95.4%). The response of Biology Education Study Program students at Medan State University to the E-module was in the very good category with a percentage of 90%. The effectiveness test showed that the E-module developed had a high level of effectiveness with an N-Gain value of 0.71. These results indicate that the Biotechnology E-module on Fermentation Technology material is feasible to use as a learning media to improve student learning outcomes.
