Abstract

The low ability to read and write the Qur’an among the younger generation remains a serious challenge, as many Muslims in Indonesia still struggle with these skills. To respond, SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kota Tegal introduced the Qur’an Reading, Writing, and Memorization (BTHQ) program to strengthen Qur’anic education in formal schools. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the program and evaluate its effectiveness in improving students’ Qur’anic literacy through a qualitative case study, using data from observations, interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed with the Miles and Huberman model and validated through triangulation. The findings reveal that the program is supported by competent teachers, though limited by the number of instructors, facilities, and time allocation. Results from the assessment instrument developed by the researcher show that most students achieved “very good” and “good” categories, especially in reading and memorization. The study’s novelty lies in designing a more comprehensive assessment tool and applying Van Meter and Van Horn’s policy implementation theory, offering a new perspective on evaluating the effectiveness of Qur’anic education in schools.

Abstract

Student mobility through student exchange programs plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of higher education, yet participation among students from non-metropolitan universities remains relatively low. This study aims to analyze the motivational factors that encourage students at Buana Perjuangan University Karawang to participate in the student exchange program within the framework of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy. Five variables were examined: academic experience, skill enhancement, career opportunities, personal development, and cultural exchange. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 140 students through an online questionnaire and analyzed with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) using SPSS 21. The findings reveal that all five variables converge into a single dominant construct, with a KMO value of 0.903, factor loadings above 0.80, and variance explained of 78.64%. This finding highlights that students’ motivation in non-metropolitan contexts tends to be holistic rather than fragmented, distinguishing it from prior studies conducted in metropolitan settings. The results provide new insights into the integrated nature of student motivation and offer practical implications for universities in formulating strategies to enhance participation in the student exchange program.

Abstract

This study discusses the strategies implemented by Guidance and Counseling (GC) teachers in assisting students to explore and determine their career choices. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Padaelo, Barru Regency. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of career guidance at this school has been running fairly well, although it still faces several challenges. GC teachers serve as the main facilitators in providing information, direction, and motivation to students regarding career choices that align with their interests, talents, and potential. Support from homeroom teachers and the school principal also contributes to the continuity of this program, although coordination among stakeholders still needs to be improved. The approaches used—such as group discussions, individual counseling, and the involvement of external parties—have proven effective in broadening students’ perspectives. However, limitations in facilities, time, and resources pose significant obstacles to the implementation process. With these efforts, it is hoped that career guidance in schools can become more optimal, relevant, and have a long-term impact on students' futures.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Canva-assisted digital teaching materials using the Discovery Learning model for Civic Education (PKn) on the topic "Cooperation in My Environment" to improve fourth-grade students’ learning motivation at UPT SDN 064034 Medan. This research applied the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, involving analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed product was validated by experts, yielding very high results: 81.05% (material), 89.52% (teaching material), 100% (module), and 83.52% (teacher), with an overall validity of 88.52%, categorized as “very valid.” The materials were considered practical and effectively implemented during learning. Effectiveness was measured through student responses and learning motivation improvement, both showing highly positive results. Overall, the Canva-assisted digital teaching materials meet the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective, and significantly enhance students’ motivation in Civic Education lessons.

Abstract

In today's digital era, education is required to prepare students with critical and creative thinking skills as a provision to face real challenges. However, learning practices at MIN 2 Surabaya City are still dominant using a conventional teacher-centered approach, so student participation and creativity are low. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the project based learning (PJBL) model in improving the critical thinking skills and creativity of grade IV students. The research method used was qualitative descriptive through observation and in-depth interviews with homeroom teachers and four students of grade IV A. The results of the study showed that PJBL was able to train students' critical thinking skills through problem-solving activities and stimulate creativity through real projects such as making dioramas and pop-up books. Despite the constraints of limited time and teacher experience, project-based learning (PJBL) has been proven to encourage more innovative, contextual, and relevant learning to the demands of the 21st century. This study confirms that PJBL deserves to be implemented more widely at the basic education level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the consepts, stages, and adventages of the Classroom Action Reseacrh (CAR) method as an effective approach to improving the quality of learning in schools. The research method employed ia a literature review, involving the collection ans analysis of various scholarly sources such as journals, books and relevant research findings. The result indicate that CAR is a form of reaerch that can be conducted by teachers in their own classroom through a cyclical process consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. This cycle enables teachers to continuously improve their teaching approaches and strategies. Findings from the reviewed literature highlight the strengths of CAR, which not only enhances student learning outcomes but also contributes to the professional development of teachers. Teachers are encouraged to think reflectively and creatively, with a strong focus on improving the quality and process of instruction. Classroom Action Research holds strategic value in fostering innovative, creative, and collaborative learning practices that positively impact both student achievement and teachers’ instructional performance.

Abstract

Education is a key pillar of national development, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia. However, significant disparities persist in public housing (rusunawa) areas, including limited learning facilities, low parental engagement, and poor socio-economic conditions. Non-formal, community-based education has emerged as a viable solution. This study explores the role of the Senyum Anak Nusantara (SAN) Community in implementing Sekolah Nusantara at Rusunawa Sawah Besar, Semarang. Using a descriptive qualitative case study approach, the research involved six informants—community organizers, volunteer teachers, and students. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, with triangulation to ensure validity.Findings indicate SAN contributes at three levels: (1) planning, by identifying children’s learning needs and developing a contextual curriculum; (2) implementation, through interactive STAM-based (Science, Technology, Art, and Morality/Mathematics) learning with 37 volunteers and 12 rotating instructors for 40 students; and (3) sustainability, via self-funding, material provision, and graduation ceremonies. Additionally, SAN fosters emotional connections with children and increases parental awareness of education’s value. In summary, SAN serves as a catalyst for inclusive, contextual, and sustainable non-formal education, supporting SDG Goal 4 on quality education.

Abstract

The study investigates student perceptions of English for General Communication classes in enhancing their English-speaking skills at the English Language Laboratory, Bandar Lampung University, during the odd semester of 2023/2024. This quantitative descriptive research employed a survey method, utilizing questionnaires for data collection and descriptive statistical analysis through percentages. The study population consisted of 382 students enrolled in the English for General Communication classes, with a randomly selected sample of 284 students (10% of the total). The findings reveal that student perceptions of the course were largely positive, with 2.5% (7 students) rating it as very positive, 49.3% (140 students) as positive, 24.3% (69 students) as moderate, 10.9% (31 students) as negative, and 13.0% (37 students) as very negative. Overall, the results indicate that the majority of students perceive the English for General Communication classes as beneficial for developing their speaking skills, categorizing their perceptions within the positive range. These findings suggest that the course plays a significant role in enhancing students' English-speaking abilities, highlighting the effectiveness of the teaching methods and learning environment provided at the English Language Laboratory. The study underscores the importance of continuously improving instructional strategies and resources to further support students in their language acquisition journey.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach based on ethnomathematics in increasing students' learning interest. This research uses a quantitative design with a quasi-experimental approach, utilizing pre-test and post-test for both the experimental and control classes. The population and sample of this study were all fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 106190 Kota Pari, consisting of Class IVA as the control class with 18 students and Class IVB as the experimental class with 17 students. The research instrument was tested on 30 students at SD Negeri 106190 Kota Pari. The research instrument used was a pre-test and post-test sheet. Based on the N-Gain score of the experimental class, which was 0.67 and categorized as moderate, it indicated a fairly good improvement in understanding and learning interest. Meanwhile, the control class obtained a negative N-Gain of 0.05, showing no improvement and even a decline. The t-test results showed tcount = 9.65 > ttable = 1.69, which means there is a significant difference between students who learned using the ethnomathematics-based RME approach and those who learned using direct learning models.

Abstract

Schools play an important role in developing the intelligence of the younger generation, including intellectual, emotional, and spiritual aspects. An optimal learning process requires a balance between good teaching quality and a conducive learning environment. However, one of the obstacles in traditional learning is the lack of interaction between teachers and students, which is often caused by feelings of reluctance and shame. This condition hinders the effectiveness of learning. To overcome this problem, a mentoring program was implemented involving grade XII students as mentors for grade X students. In this program, grade XII students who understand the material help grade X students to learn. This study aims to examine the effect of the mentoring program on grade X students' understanding of Biodiversity material. This program is designed to create a more personal and supportive learning atmosphere, so that students feel more comfortable asking questions and discussing. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test posttest control group design. The results showed that the mentoring program significantly improved students' understanding of Biodiversity material. Therefore, this program can be an effective alternative to improve the quality of learning and improve student understanding.
