Abstract

A popular video sharing site, YouTube, could be used as an alternative teaching medium in online learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is useful to help students to keep on learning and get materials well in the difficult circumstance caused by the pandemic. This study aims to describe how Youtube is used as a learning medium in English teaching, especially the writing skill at MTs Ma'aarif NU 01 Kemranjen during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data are collected through the triangulation of interview, observation, and documentation. The data are then analysed by applying Miles and Huberman’s (1994) model of data reduction, data display, and verification. The results of this study reveal that Youtube is seen to be a good learning medium to cope with the learning difficulties in the unprecedented Covid-19 crisis. The asynchronous nature of the Youtube videos enabled students to repeat the video as much as they want to. The implementation of Youtube in online learning was done in three stages: 1) preparation, the teacher makes and uploads the videos; 2) implementation, the teacher shares the link and provides brief explanation on WhatsApp; and 3) evaluation, the teacher gives quizzes to ensure that the materials are well-received. Meanwhile, the obstacles in the implementation are poor Intenet network, insufficient facilities, and unmotivated students. The pedagogical implication from this study is that Youtube is a good fit for online learning, it is highly recommended for teaching during the pandemic.

Abstract

In this study, Author explains the monitor hypothesis of Stephen Krashen and Istima-Kalam Learning. With the hope of being able to provide solutions to the obstacles that have been experienced by Arabic language teachers and learners, especially when learning Istima-Kalam. The monitor hypothesis in istima-kalam learning must include instructions and correction procedures for each material learned and experienced by students. The correction process also needs to consider the smallest element of Arabic, namely harf. Students with difficulty pronouncing certain letters, must be given instructions or directions and monitored intensely. The instructions and corrections are needed to see to what extent the participants are able to master the correct pronunciation of letters, master the formation of words, and sentences according to tarakib in accordance with ‘ílm sharf (Arabic morphology) and ‘ilm nahw (Arabic syntax). Only then arrange connections and adjustments (muthabaqah) between sentences to become meaningful and acceptable oral or written.

Abstract

Arabic is a very important language, without us knowing Arabic including the language used every day in worship practices like when praying. For Indonesian students have a background of the skills of reading Latin writing, the skills of reading Arabic writing are a problem, because Arabic alphabet is different from the Latin alphabet. The Qiroah method is a method carried out by presenting learning material by prioritizing reading, either by using voice or in the heart. With the Qiroah students, students are expected to be able to speak Arabic with fluent, right and smoothly according to the rules. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the Qiroah method and the influence of the Qiroah method on student learning achievement in Arabic subjects. This study uses a quantitafif approach with the experimental method. Data collection techniques with observation, tests and documentation with samples taken are 36 students. The results of the study stated that there was an influence on the Qiroah method on student learning achievement indicated by an increase in the value of the pre-test and post-test. The difference in pre-test value with an average of 70.5 results increased to 78.5. The results of the hypothesis test that the researcher asked Ho rejected and Ha accepted was shown that t count = 17.33> T table = 1,687.

Abstract

Creativity and innovation in language teaching are two significance elements which mutually support the achievement of language teaching goals. The success of language teaching depends on both the material presented and the presentation technique done by the teachers to their learners. In this case, the material is prepared in accordance with the provisions set out in the curriculum by paying attention to the content that is appropriate to the context in order to achieve the teaching target. Creativity in the preparation of teaching materials and contents is needed to make it easier for students to follow each stage of teaching. In addition to the creativity in the preparation of materials, creativity and innovation in delivering the materials are also obligatory parts. The creativity and innovation of teachers in delivering can be done by various teaching activities that seek to generate students’ interest in teaching, creative power, and students’ innovation power. From this, teaching plans that lead to students’ activities, creativity, and innovations become crucial charts that must be prepared by teachers before starting teaching activities in the classroom. Thus, this article presents some ways to create a creative and innovative language teaching.

Abstract

Interactive formative assessment was applied in an online teaching-learning. In SMA Annuriyah Bumiayu, an English teacher used Google Classroom in the Comment Column features to apply the online assessment for the EFL students. This study aimed to describe the use, find out the strengths, and discover the weaknesses of interactive formative assessment in the comment column of Google Classroom. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were in the form of interview transcripts, table observation, field notes, and picture documentation. The researcher used data triangulation and method triangulation for the trustworthiness of the data. For analyzing data, the researcher used interactive model analysis, which contained reducing, presenting, and drawing or verification of the data. The results of this research show that the teacher used Google Classroom for presenting interactive assessments. From the description, the finding demonstrates the utilities and the tools of interactive assessment. Furthermore, the finding of the study also exposes the strengths and weaknesses of using Google Classroom. The advantages include Google Classroom is helpful in ELT, assessing students, and managing formative assessment. Also, the disadvantages are students with lack of motivation and low adversity quotient faced on Google Classroom.

Abstract

This study focuses on how important it is to apply politeness in speaking with someone from the perspective of English Education students. To do this research, researchers used qualitative methods. One of the techniques that researchers use in this study is the non-interactive technique that is the questionnaire. This questionnaire was chosen to explore deeper information about the opinions of English Education Students at State Islamic University of North Sumatera Medan starting from the 2nd – 8th Semester (participants or respondents) on the importance of expressing politeness. Researchers chose the questionnaire technique in order to shorten the time and got more participants rather than had to conduct interviews. This study reports the choice of being polite for people is influenced by differences in power relations, such as notion of status, age, gender, and social distance. This study emphasizes that politeness is needed to be implemented since rudeness creates conflict between one to another person.

Abstract

مما لا شك فيه أن التحصيل العلمي للطفل من الأمور التي يهتم بها الوالدان بشدة ويهتمان بها ، ولا عجب في هذا الصدد ، لأن الروح محبة للخير وتسعى لمزيد من المعرفة وتوفر أسبابًا للتراكم. ثروة. متقاعد ، واتفق معظم الناس على أن الحصول على الشهادة المدرسية هو أحد الطرق لتحقيق هذا الهدف ، لذلك يحجم البعض عن إرسال أطفالهم إلى المدرسة لحفظ القرآن أو حفظ القرآن في الليل. القران نعتذر لان الانشغال بحفظ ومراجعة القرآن الكريم يضحى بالتحصيل الدراسي او على حساب مواد اخرى. سيكون لذلك أثر سلبي على العملية التعليمية ومتابعة التحصيل ولذا كان من المناسب طرح هذا الموضوع على بساط البحث والدراسة ومن ثم الخروج بنتيجة واضحة يتبين من خلالها الأثر الذي يتركه الانشغال بحفظ القرآن الكريم ومراجعته في التحصيل الدراسي سلباً أو إيجاباً.

Abstract

Sculpture is a famous word that many students did not know in high schools in Indonesia, but it was used by the Arabs sometimes, and the Indonesians also used it in communication in this modern era. This research is important to know sculpture in general and to know contemporary sculpture in the Arabic language, and to suggest the teacher's attempts to benefit from contemporary sculpture in developing vocabulary acquisition for high school students in Indonesia. This qualitative research used the descriptive method with the help of books, scientific articles and other library aids. The results of the research: 1) knowledge of the concept of sculpture in general 2) the concept of contemporary sculpture, 3) suggestions for the teacher to benefit from contemporary sculpture in developing vocabulary acquisition for high school students in Indonesia are three: (1) The teacher prepares exercises brochures that include new vocabulary from sculpture Contemporary increase an accompanying addition to the books of the prescribed basic educational materials; (2) The teacher provides students with the opportunity to follow the Arabic language program on TV and the Internet to research new terms from contemporary sculpture; (3) The teacher gives the students the opportunity to watch Arab cinema together during the teaching process.

Abstract

ملخص البحث مهارات التفكير العليا هي مهارات يحتاجها الطلاب في القرن الحادي والعشرين ، لا سيما في مصادر التعلم مثل الكتب المدرسية. هناك عدة مستويات من مهارات التفكير العليا تبدأ من التحليل والتقييم والإبداع. كان الغرض من هذه الدراسة هو تحديد تصنيف مهارات التفكير العليا في الكتب المدرسية في شكل أوصاف ونسب مئوية. طريقة البحث المستخدمة هي دراسة بحثية نوعية للأدب. كان مصدر البيانات الأولية في هذه الدراسة كتابًا عربيًا للصف العاشر من المدرسة العليا ، وكانت مصادر البيانات الثانوية عدة وثائق ومجلات ومراجع متعلقة بالبحث. أظهرت النتائج أن مستوى HOTS في الكتاب يحتوي على محتوى تحليلي (C4) في صورة مراجعة الأفكار ، وتصحيحها ودراستها وتفصيلها واختيار ما يصل إلى 50٪ من مستوى التقييم (C5) في شكل تلخيص واستنتاج ووزن 10٪ ومستوى إنشاء في النموذج من جعل الجمل بقدر 40٪.

Abstract

The rapid changes in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution prompted impacts on all aspects of life. As a result, it is necessary for those in the field of education, especially Arabic teaching, to quickly adapt to the changes. The objectives of this research are to describe the models of educational curriculum development presented by famous educational scholars, and to reveal their advantages and disadvantages, and to use them in developing curriculum for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The researcher used the qualitative approach and library research in which he studied the ideas of experts in the field of education and curriculum in particular. The data was collected by studying books written by experts in the education curriculum and journals about the curriculum in general and the language curriculum in particular. It was analyzed according to the opinion of Mills, Huberman, and Saldana. The results of this research are: (1) There are some educational curriculum models, namely Ralph Taylor, Hilda Taba, Wheeler, Oliva, and Doll models. (2) It is important to develop the Arabic language teaching curriculum by taking advantage of those models and taking into account their advantage and disadvantages. The conclusion of this research indicates that the curriculum plays an important role in the educational process. Therefore, it needs to be developed further.
