Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of strategic management in improving the quality of Islamic education at the State Islamic University (UIN) Mataram using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation studies analyzed with the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that UIN Mataram implements strategic management through three main stages, namely strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation which are realized through institutional transformation from IAIN to UIN, curriculum development based on the integration of religious and general sciences, improving the quality of human resources through continuous training, developing educational infrastructure and facilities, and strengthening the internal quality assurance system with a strategy of scientific integration as a characteristic to create graduates who excel academically and have a strong spirituality. Supporting factors for the implementation of strategic management include visionary leadership, collaborative organizational culture, and regulatory support from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, while the challenges faced include limited human resources, resistance to change, lack of infrastructure, and competition with other universities. This study concludes that strategic management plays a central role in improving the quality of Islamic education at UIN Mataram through an adaptive approach, responsive to the dynamics of changing times, and maintaining Islamic values as the main foundation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model within the quality assurance system at SMK Sore Tulungagung. Previous studies emphasise that PDCA is essential for institutional quality improvement, yet its application in vocational schools remains underexplored. In Indonesia, ISO-based management systems have encouraged schools to adopt structured planning and evaluation mechanisms. This research uses a qualitative case study design through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Key informants include the principal, the internal quality assurance team, and the administrative staff. The findings show that the planning stage involves comprehensive program mapping aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and risk management principles. The implementation stage demonstrates clear documentation, defined responsibilities, and responsive service flows. The evaluation stage incorporates satisfaction surveys, internal audits, and management review meetings that ensure issues are systematically addressed. Follow-up actions are carried out through corrective measures and continuous improvement efforts. The study also finds that digital monitoring is still limited, affecting long-term consistency. Overall, the PDCA model strengthens the school’s quality culture and operational effectiveness. This study demonstrates how an adaptive, data-driven PDCA framework can enhance internal quality assurance in vocational institutions and recommends integrating digital monitoring systems to ensure sustainability.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) opens up new opportunities in the management of more interactive and adaptive learning, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, many PAI learning practices are still conventional, teacher-centered, and have minimal interaction, resulting in low student motivation to learn. This study aims to examine PAI learning management through the use of chatbots to increase student interactivity and motivation, with a focus on planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data was collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of PAI teachers, students, and schools involved in the implementation of chatbot-based learning. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by triangulating sources and techniques to maintain the validity of the data. The results of the study show that the systematic use of chatbots can increase student interactivity and motivation. In the planning stage, the chatbot is integrated with PAI materials that are conceptual and reflective. In implementation, chatbots create a dialogical, responsive, and student-centered learning environment, which encourages active participation and independent learning. In evaluation, chatbots assist teachers in process-based formative assessments. This study concludes that chatbots can be a strategic instrument in PAI learning management if positioned as an integrated pedagogical support, not a substitute for the role of educators.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of organizational culture and information technology on institutional policies and lecturer performance in undergraduate Management study programs at private universities in Indonesia. It also explores the mediating role of institutional policies in the relationship between organizational culture, information technology, and lecturer performance. A quantitative descriptive survey approach was employed, with data collected via questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4. The bootstrapping technique tested the significance of the construct relationships. Findings reveal that organizational culture and information technology significantly influence institutional policies and directly enhance lecturer performance. However, institutional policies do not significantly affect lecturer performance and do not mediate the relationship between organizational culture and information technology with lecturer performance. This study contributes original insights by integrating organizational culture, information technology, and institutional policy into a single model for analyzing lecturer performance.

Abstract

Al-Kamal Integrated Islamic Boarding School in Blitar plays a strategic role in integrating religious and general education to produce a competitive Muslim generation in the global era. However, challenges such as limited modern facilities and funding become obstacles in improving the quality of education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of strategic management based on non-formal schools in improving the quality of Islamic education in the Islamic boarding school. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that the Islamic boarding school has strengths in the form of a strong vision and mission, strategic location, flexible flagship programs, and adequate facilities. However, weaknesses such as dependence on student tuition fees and limited technological facilities hinder further development. Great opportunities such as government support and the increasing trend of public interest in Islamic education provide space for the Islamic boarding school to continue to develop. Threats from competition with other Islamic boarding schools and the challenges of globalization demand more significant innovation. In conclusion, the implementation of strategic management at Al-Kamal Integrated Islamic Boarding School is effective in improving the quality of education by optimizing strengths and opportunities, although improvements are needed in diversifying funding, increasing technological facilities, and adapting the curriculum based on religious and general integration. This study recommends strengthening collaboration with the government, NGOs, and the private sector to support the sustainability of education that is more inclusive and relevant to the demands of the times

Abstract

Public schools often emphasize academic achievement while giving limited attention to students’ religious and moral development. However, parents’ expectations toward education have shifted, demanding schools that are not only academically excellent but also capable of fostering strong religious character. This study aims to explore how principal-led programs contribute to the realization of a religious school in a public secondary school context. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Jogorogo, Ngawi Regency, a public school recognized for its strong religious culture and academic performance. This study employed a qualitative field research design using a phenomenological approach to understand participants’ lived experiences related to religious program implementation. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving the principal and selected teachers. Data analysis was conducted continuously using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings indicate that the principal plays a central role in fostering a religious school culture through structured, sustainable, and value-based programs. Six core programs were identified: Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz), orphan sponsorship, dawn charity (sedekah subuh), professional zakat, routine religious study sessions, and the “three day one juz” Qur’anic recitation program. These programs are strengthened by effective leadership strategies, including ideological integration with teachers, openness to feedback, and continuous motivation. The study concludes that strong principal leadership combined with well-designed religious programs significantly contributes to the development of a religious culture in public schools without compromising academic excellence.
