AKSARA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (Journal of Linguistics and Literature) is a biannual journal (April and October) published by the Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung. Abstract

Fine art learning usually only focuses on individual development. Whereas through art, students can also collaborate in creating a work. For this reason, as prospective educators, students of Fine Arts Education or PSR must have a strategy to create learning activities that can develop creativity as well as student participation. The research method used this time is a qualitative method with an experimental approach. The approach is done to explore directly about the process, results, and dynamics that arise during data collection. The data collection instrument in this research is participatory observation of four PSR students who practice drawing, both individually and in groups, besides that there are also interviews and literature studies to strengthen the assessment of observation results. The purpose of this research is to compare the effectiveness of the decorative drawing process using conventional techniques and collective painting techniques as an innovation in the development of learning methods, which is expected to inspire learning models for PSR students. The results of these observations have proven that creativity and participation increase when applying the collective painting method. This is evident when implementing collective painting practices, where they have more discussions and communication to work together in creating works of monumental size than with conventional methods, where they only work individually and focus on their respective works.Keywords: Collective painting, creativity, learning strategies, participation, visual arts education

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the culture of critical thinking in high schools by identifying the reasoning techniques used by students in written argumentative texts. Employing a qualitative approach with discourse analysis as the theoretical framework, this research investigates how students construct arguments in their writing assignments. Data collection involved analyzing these assignments to identify reasoning techniques. This study identifies four argumentation patterns used by high school students in argumentative writing: (1) C-G-B, (2) C-G-W-B, (3) C-G-B-MQ, and (4) C-G-W-B-MQ, as well as three argumentation techniques: (1) argumentation with examples, (2) argumentation with authority, and (3) argumentation with cause. The C-G-B and C-G-W-B patterns promote analysis, while the C-G-B-MQ and C-G-W-B-MQ patterns encourage synthesis. These argumentation techniques help students evaluate, strengthen logical thinking, and analyze cause-and-effect relationships. Recommendations for enhancing critical thinking skills and character development include incorporating these argumentation patterns into teaching materials and facilitating the learning of diverse argumentation techniques.Keywords: critical thinking, character development, argumentative reasoning, high school students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the story structure in the plot and the characters played by the characters in the film Alfaris Wal Amira (الفارس و الأميرة) by Bashir El Dik. The approach used in dissecting this film is the hero's journey approach by Christopher Vogler to find out the story structure and the archetype approach by Christopher Vogler to find out the characters. This research is a qualitative descriptive research that uses dialogue and cut scenes as data to analyze the film. The data collection technique uses the Simak method by watching repeatedly. The results of this study found that the patterns that occur in the story are not in accordance with those described by Christopher Vogler, the call to the adventure occurs twice before and after the ordinary world. Then Muhammad Ibnu Qosim must go through the second threshold after the road back before the resurrection. Abstract

This study aims to examine the form of intersectionality experienced by female characters in the film 'Asmaa' by Amr M Salama. Therefore, the theory used to analyze data based on the problems found is the theory of intersectionality from the perspective of Kimberle Crenshaw. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The type of data used by researchers in this study is qualitative data in the form of screenshots of scenes from the film Asmaa and then analyzed verbally. Based on this analysis, the results of this study show that Asmaa, as the main character in the film, experiences three forms of intersectionality oppression, namely gender, health stigma, and social class in Egyptian patriarchal society.Keywords: intersectionality, patriarchy, HIV, film

Abstract

A person's speaking style is a manifestation of various individual characteristics that influence the way they convey messages and influence their listeners. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The data source for this research is Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus's Da'wah Vlog entitled "The World is Still Beautiful as Long as There is a Rasulullah". Data collection techniques in this research used listening and note-taking techniques. This research aims to explore various aspects of Ustazah Halimah Alaydrus' speech style and language style in the context of argument formation, emotional expression, and influence on public opinion on the YouTube platform. Abstract

This journal explores the intersection of ethnolinguistics and toponymy, focusing on the naming conventions of villages in the Cimanuk District. The methodology employed in this research is ethnolinguistic with a descriptive qualitative approach. This method is particularly effective for understanding the nuances of language as it relates to cultural and social contexts. Intralingual matching is data analysis method focuses on analyzing the differences in linguistic elements, particularly phonological and lexical differences. The study categorizes the names based on grammatical units and their origins, revealing a total of 11 data points divided into monomorphemic (3 data) and polymorphemic (8 data) names. The analysis highlights that the naming process involves compounding, which is a significant aspect of word formation in language. The findings indicate that the names can be grouped into two aspects based on their origins: manifestation aspects (6 data) and societal aspects (5 data). This dual approach not only enriches the understanding of local culture but also emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage through language.Keywords: Toponymy, Village Naming, Cimanuk, Grammatical Units

Abstract

The discussion in this research is about the critical discourse analysis model of Norman Fairclough. The purpose of this research is to understand the ideology, thoughts, or ideas of an official's discourse. The data source used from the text of Mental Revolution put forward by the Indonesian Presidential Candidate, Joko Widodo during the 2014 Indonesian Presidential election campaign with a length of 28 paragraphs. This research is included in qualitative descriptive research. The analysis process consists of three stages of Fairclough's theory: (1) Text Analysis, examining vocabulary, sentence structure, and the like to understand the meaning conveyed; (2) Discursive Practice, understanding how the text is produced to be consumed in a social context, as well as knowing how ideology is intertwined in a discourse; (3) Social Praxis, knowing the social impact of the text in the lives of Indonesian people. The data collection stage of the research uses the technique of recording data contained in words, sentences, and paragraphs contained in the Mental Revolution Text to obtain data. The theory used in this research is Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis theory. The results show that the text reflects the government's efforts to build a positive image through the narrative of national awakening, which in research can provide insight into how language is used to shape public perceptions and direct the public to support government policies. The text's conclusion of Jokowi's Mental Revolution discusses Joko Widodo's dream to change the mentality of the people in Indonesia to become a nation that stands on its own feet, but the reality has not been achieved until now.Keywords: Critical Discourse, Mental Revolution, Joko Widodo, Text

Abstract

The development of science, technology and culture cause the meaning of a word to change. Word absorption in foreign language also develops over time. This research aims to analyze how the meaning of the word has changed compared to its original meaning in the newspaper Asy-Syarqu Al-Ausath edition Vol. 47. Understanding the changes in the meanings of absorbing words helps prevent ambiguity and supports communication accuracy in the Arabic world. It belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The approach applied in this research is the change of meaning according to Sarwiji Suwandi's view. The data collection technique used listening method followed by documentation technique. Data analysis in this study used intralingual pairing method with the technique of connecting-comparing (HBB). The results of this study show that there are two types of meaning changes, namely (1) generalization or expansion of meaning, for example in the absorption word al-barliman (البرلمان) and (2) specialization or narrowing of meaning as in the absorption word diplomasiyah (الدبلوماسية). Of the two types of meaning changes in the Vol. 47 edition of Asy-Syarqu Al-Ausath newspaper, specialization or narrowing changes in meaning are most often found. So it can be seen that English words absorbed into Arabic tend to experience a process of specialization or narrowing of meaning.Keywords: Loanwords, Change of Meaning, Semantic, Arabic Newspaper

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the relationship between women and nature in the novel Perempuan yang Menunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut by Dian Purnomo. The theory used in this study is Vandana Shiva's ecofeminism theory, which highlights the relationship between the exploitation of nature and the oppression of women and how women have an important role in maintaining ecological balance. This study uses a qualitative method. The content analysis technique was used in this study. The study's results, namely: a) the role of women in protecting nature (environmental justice), obtained a dominant percentage of 10.72%. This confirms that the struggle of women in this novel focuses on ecological protection as a form of resistance to the exploitation of natural resources in Sangihe; b) local knowledge data 5.51% shows how cultural heritage and community wisdom play an important role in efforts to protect the environment; c) natural condition data 2.83% reflects the real impact of exploitation on the ecosystem and life of the Sangihe Community; d) data on the relationship between women and nature 2.12% confirms the close relationship between environmental sustainability and the role of women as guardians of ecological balance; and e) data on feminine values in maintaining the balance between women and nature 1.73%. This illustrates how caring, sustainability, and harmony contribute to environmental protection. The findings demonstrate the close relationship between women and nature that reflects the values of environmental feminism, especially environmental justice and the role of women in maintaining ecological balance. The contribution of this study is to strengthen the understanding of the importance of women's roles in environmental issues and ecofeminism in Indonesia, as well as its relevance in the context of environmental policies and social movements.Keywords: Ecofeminism, Sangihe Women, Mining, Environmental Exploitation

Abstract

This study discusses the lexicon in Sundanese traditional wedding ceremonies in Kabupaten Pandeglang. This research aims to describe the lexicon and cultural meaning in traditional Sundanese wedding ceremonies Huap Lingkung and Sawer Panganten in Kabupaten Pandeglang. This research is expected to be a source of knowledge related to the lexicon of Sundanese traditional marriage so that these customs can continue to be preserved. The research method is a qualitative method with an ethnolinguistic approach. Data was collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews. The source of data in this research is a transcription of the recording of the researcher’s interviews with informants related to the lexicon and cultural meaning of traditional Sundanese wedding ceremonies. Based on the results of participant observation and in-depth interviews, the findings in this research included 24 data. The results of the research were 23 data found which were broken down into 12 lexcion data in the Sundanese traditional wedding ceremony Huap Lingkung which consisted of (1) monomorphemic words totaling 4 data; (2) polymorphemic words totaling 1 data; (3) verbal phrases totaling 4 data; and (4) nominal phrases totaling 3 data and 11 lexicon data in the Sundanese traditional wedding ceremony Sawer Panganten which consisted of (1) monomorphemic words totaling 5 data; (2) polymorphemic words totaling 1 data; (3) verbal phrases totaling 1 data and (4) nominal phrases totaling 4 data.Keywords: ethnolinguistic. lexicon, cultural meaning, Sundanese society
