Abstract

This community service activity aims to integrate environmental conservation and coastal community economic empowerment through the implementation of a mangrove crab silvofishery system at Lembung Mangrove Ecotourism, Galis Subdistrict, Pamekasan Regency. The program is carried out in collaboration with Pokmaswas Bina Lestari as the main partner in managing the activities. The implementation methods include socializing the concept of silvofishery and participatory pond construction using local materials such as bamboo, gedek, and waring. Evaluations were conducted on the strength of the pond structure, the effectiveness of water circulation, and the increase in community understanding of conservation. The results of the activity showed increased participation of Pokmaswas Bina Lestari in ecotourism management and the formation of an environmentally friendly and economically productive mangrove crab farming model. This activity not only provided direct economic benefits to the community but also strengthened the ecological function of mangrove forests as a buffer for coastal ecosystems. This silvofishery model has the potential to be replicated in other coastal areas as an effort to develop sustainable conservation-based ecotourism.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the efficiency of financial management and operational services for UMKM, especially at MJ Autocare, a touchless motorcycle washing service business, through the development and training of an Android-based cashier application. This application is designed with three access rights for users: admin, cashier, and owner, thus simplifying transaction recording, product management, and the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports. The implementation method includes socialization, hands-on training, and participant skill evaluation with pre- and post-tests. The training participants consisted of six MJ Autocare employees who play a direct role in operations such as cashiers and admins. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participant understanding, where before the training only 16.7% of participants understood the basics of the cashier information system, while after the training this increased to 93.3% of participants were able to operate the application and produce financial reports independently. The main supporting factors for this activity were participant enthusiasm and the suitability of the application to partner needs, while the obstacle faced was the difference in technological understanding among participants. With this cashier application, it is hoped that MJ Autocare will be able to improve the accuracy of transaction recording, employee work efficiency, and transparency of financial reports, thereby supporting more modern and professional business management.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly those managed by women in rural areas, play a crucial role in supporting family and local economies. However, this potential is often hampered by limited access to technology and understanding of modern business management. The Ruhama women's group in Simpang Kapuak Village, Mungka District, faces similar challenges in its local gambir tea production business. This community service program aims to address these obstacles through strategic interventions in digital marketing and financial management. Implementation methods include outreach, theoretical training, and intensive practical mentoring. The activity stages are systematically designed, starting with needs analysis and program implementation, and ending with impact evaluation, measured by increasing empowerment levels. The results demonstrate significant improvements in digital literacy and financial management skills among participants. 85% of participants are able to create promotional content for products on social media, and 92% understand the basic concepts of simple financial record keeping. Close collaboration with the village government also strengthens program synergy, aligning with the regional development vision. The program has not only succeeded in improving technical capacity but also fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and independence, which are essential foundations for the economic sustainability of local communities.

Abstract

The Bangka Belitung Islands are one of the regions with high shallot consumption. This is not comparable to the total local shallot production on Bangka Island, so it must be supplied from outside the region. Central Bangka Regency is the center of horticultural commodity production on Bangka Island. Air Mesu Timur Village has the potential to become a shallot production center on Bangka Island, but its development is hampered by limited business capital, low-quality seeds, and suboptimal implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cultivation. The Timur Makmur Farmers Group is one of the shallot producers in Air Mesu Timur Village. This activity aims to improve the implementation of SOPs for shallot cultivation and increase local farmers' yields. The program methods include Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), provision and delivery of production facilities and infrastructure, shallot cultivation demonstration plots, and shallot marketing. Community service activities will be carried out from June to September 2025 at the Timur Makmur Farmers Group's garden in Air Mesu Timur Village. The results of the activity showed increased farmer interest in growing shallots, and the demonstration plot was able to produce 500 kg of fresh bulbs from 50 kg of seeds, equivalent to a yield ratio of 1:10. The results of the agricultural business analysis showed that shallot cultivation in Air Mesu Timur Village produced a R/C ratio of 1.43. This indicates that the cultivation effort is economically profitable. Based on this activity, it was discovered that implementing the SOP for shallot cultivation typical of Bangka Island can increase shallot production and productivity on Bangka Island.

Abstract

Rumah Markisa Noerlen, which has been a producer of traditional passion fruit syrup since 1985, now faces serious challenges in the form of market decline due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, compounded by suboptimal digital marketing. Therefore, this community service aims to develop a local wisdom-based digital marketing strategy, expected to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of Rumah Markisa Noerlen's products in an increasingly competitive market. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which includes observation, interviews, training, and mentoring in digital content management, as well as website development as a promotional and sales platform. The results show an improvement in partners' capabilities in producing digital content, managing websites, and creating attractive promotional materials. The discussion highlights the importance of integrating local cultural values into digital marketing as a competitive advantage, as well as the collaboration between academics and MSME actors in technology adaptation. The next planned achievements include the utilization of data analytics, continuous training, and expanding networks with tourism communities to support business development and strengthen the local economy. This approach is expected to provide innovative solutions for the cultural-based MSME development in Medan City, benefiting not only the entrepreneurs but also the community as a whole.

Abstract

Chronic diseases are non-communicable conditions that require a long time to heal and account for 70% of global deaths according to WHO (2024). One of the most common chronic diseases is diabetes mellitus, which requires medical treatment, self-management education, and continuous support to prevent complications. The International Diabetes Federation (2017) reported that the number of people with diabetes reached 427 million and is projected to increase to 629 million by 2045, with Indonesia ranking as the third-highest contributor globally. Poor diabetes management is often caused by patients’ noncompliance with healthy diet, exercise, and medication. The community still has limited understanding of the importance of blood glucose testing and proper care for family members with diabetes. Educational and blood glucose screening activities were carried out in Sungai Keledang Village, Samarinda Seberang, over three days in September 2025. The methods used included health education, interactive discussions, and blood glucose examinations. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge based on pretest and posttest scores on diabetes mellitus. The community was also actively involved in the screening and health education sessions.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains an infectious disease that poses a global health challenge in both developed and developing countries. The rising number of HIV/AIDS cases among adolescents indicates that this age group is highly vulnerable to infection due to physical, psychological, and social changes during their developmental stage. Adequate knowledge of HIV/AIDS plays a vital role in preventing and controlling its transmission among adolescents. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS among students at SMP Negeri 4 Seram Barat in 2025. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using a cross-sectional design. Samples were obtained through simple random sampling, involving 65 students. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed bivariately to present the frequency distribution of knowledge levels. The results showed that 11 respondents (16.9%) had good knowledge, 42 (64.6%) had moderate knowledge, and 12 (18.5%) had low knowledge. It can be concluded that most students have moderate knowledge of HIV/AIDS; however, enhanced health education is needed to improve understanding of disease prevention and transmission.

Abstract

Mungka District in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra, is one of the main centers of gambier production that generates a large amount of solid waste from the leaf pressing process. This waste had previously been unmanaged and posed an environmental pollution risk. This community service program aimed to implement bio drying technology based on eco enzym as an environmentally friendly solution to convert gambier pressing waste into value-added organic compost. The program was carried out collaboratively with the Bunga Gambir Farmers Group through training, demonstration, and field mentoring. The partners successfully produced eco enzym from household organic materials and applied it in the bio drying process. The activity resulted in a reduction of waste volume and moisture content by up to 70%, a color change to dark brown, odor reduction, and the formation of semi-mature compost with crumbly texture and no unpleasant odor. The compost product is currently being matured and evaluated for quality before field application. This program improved the knowledge, technical skills, and awareness of the farmers in sustainable waste management and established a practical model for eco enzym–based gambier waste processing that can be replicated in other rural communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of agricultural technology adoption, land size, and formal education on household food security among millennial farmers in Brebes Regency. The impetus for this research arises from the significant role of younger generations as catalysts for agricultural transformation in the face of challenges such as land fragmentation, rice price volatility, and climate change, which jeopardize the stability of regional food security. This study employs a quantitative method with a survey approach involving 30 millennial rice farmers selected purposively. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS software. The results show that simultaneously, agricultural technology adoption, land size, and formal education significantly affect household food security among millennial farmers, with an F-value of 9.634 and a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). Partially, agricultural technology adoption and formal education have a positive and significant effect on food security, while land size has no significant effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.526 indicates that these three variables explain 52.6% of the variation in household food security, while other factors may influence a larger portion of the variation. These findings emphasize that the food security of millennial farmers in Brebes Regency is more strongly determined by the level of technology adoption and formal education than by land size. Therefore, strategies to enhance food security should focus on agricultural modernization based on technology and the improvement of human resource capacity through education and training.
