Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates how the implementation of a Property Management System at Nio Garden Hotel Sumbawa influences the efficiency of Front Office operations and the overall quality of guest service. It seeks to understand the extent to which early adoption of a digital management platform can support a new hotel in a developing tourism region. Research methods: A qualitative case study approach was employed. Primary data were gathered through a semi structured interview with the Front Office Manager. Secondary data comprised a thematic analysis of twenty nine guest reviews sourced from Google Review, Booking.com, Tiket.com, and Agoda.com. The property management system under study is Atlantis. Results and discussion: The system has improved the speed and accuracy of reservation handling, check in and check out procedures, billing, and room status management. Nevertheless, challenges persist in the assignment of rooms under maintenance, uneven integration of payment methods in the restaurant, and lapses in communication that affect breakfast availability and guest notifications. These findings indicate that while the system has potential, full optimization is hindered by staff learning curves and partial deployment of key features. Implication: To maximize the benefits of a property management system in small or family-owned hotels, continuous staff training, deeper integration across all hotel departments, and proactive digital communication strategies are essential. This will lead to more consistent service delivery and higher levels of guest satisfaction.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore digital promotion strategies and presentation innovations as efforts to increase the interest of younger generations and tourists in toge goreng, a traditional dish from Bogor, and to support the preservation of local culinary heritage. Research method: The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study strategy in several key culinary locations in Bogor, including Jalan Suryakencana, Pasar Ah Poong, and the area surrounding Bogor Botanical Gardens. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, semi-structured questionnaires, and documentation from social media and culinary articles. Thematic analysis was conducted with the aid of NVivo 15 to identify key patterns and themes. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods, and adherence to ethical research principles. Results and discussion: Findings reveal that toge goreng is perceived as a symbol of local identity, yet its popularity among young consumers is declining due to modern food trends and limited online visibility. Despite the growing trend in gastronomic tourism, toge goreng lacks competitive appeal due to minimal innovation and promotion. However, opportunities exist in developing creative presentation techniques and leveraging digital platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Cultural values remain a key element, and maintaining authenticity while modernizing the experience is essential. Collaboration among local vendors, tourism stakeholders, and content creators emerged as a strategic pathway to revitalize interest in toge goreng. Implications: This research underscores the need for a holistic and collaborative approach in preserving traditional foods like toge goreng. Practical implications include integrating digital marketing strategies, empowering local food entrepreneurs with training in visual branding, and fostering cross-sector partnerships. The study contributes to the discourse on cultural preservation in the context of modern food consumption and offers a replicable model for promoting other underappreciated traditional dishes within the broader scope of sustainable gastronomic tourism.

The research aims to identify common barriers, emotional impacts, coping mechanisms, and actionable solutions to enhance guest experiences and inclusivity. Research methods: A qualitative approach was employed through semi-structured interviews and surveys with 50 non-native English-speaking guests from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Data was analysed using thematic coding via NVivo software to extract recurring themes and insights. Results and discussion: The findings reveal that non-native speakers frequently face difficulties such as understanding accents, limited vocabulary for specific service contexts (e.g., dining or navigation), and dependence on translation apps or gestures for communication. These challenges often lead to frustration, embarrassment, or reduced satisfaction with their overall experience. Participants emphasized the importance of multilingual staff training programs, accessible written materials in multiple languages, and improved signage as practical solutions. Additionally, they highlighted the value of real-time translation tools during interactions with staff. Implications: The study underscores the critical need for tailored communication strategies within hospitality services to address language barriers effectively. Implementing these strategies can significantly improve guest satisfaction while fostering a more inclusive environment for international travellers.

Research Methods: This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study model. The informants in this study consist of 4 (four) participants, academics, event organizers, tourists and karawitan artists. The data collection method was carried out through interview and observation techniques. Data were analyzed using data reduction and thematic analysis techniques. Results and Discussion: The results of the study indicate that Gamelan Sekaten performance is considered to have more as a cultural tourism attraction for several reasons. Gamelan Sekaten performance has several differences when compared to other gamelan performances, such as its implementation which cannot be held at any time, but only at the Sekaten ceremony which is usually held to commemorate the Maulid Prophet Muhammad, and also, the use of gamelan musical instruments with a larger and more complex size and presenting gendhing or poems with a magnificent nuance are also characteristics of Gamelan Sekaten performance. Moreover, another aspect that makes gamelan sekaten more professional is the collaboration between event organizers and academics who has a background in karawitan arts education to keep the quality, uniqueness and authenticity of the performance. On the other hand, the result shows that there are few aspects related to 4A concept such as accessibility, amenities and ancillary services  that can be improved to increase tourist satisfaction to watch this performance. The results have implications for improving several aspects based on 4A concept. Things that can be improved from accessibility aspect are accessibility in the venue and accessibility of performance information. Thing that can be improved from amenities aspect is quantity of facilities such as toilets and parking area. Thing that can be improved from ancillary services is the provision of tour guide to ensure the quality of visitor’s experiences and satisfaction. On the other hand. the research highlights the need to conduct similar research, especially using quantitative-based method, to measure the level of tourist satisfaction in visiting Gamelan Sekaten activity.
