Abstract

Why is Siliwangi so popular in Sundanese culture? He it is also enshrined in various place names, streets, foundations, and public organizations, and even has his own followers and oral-literary texts. Why is the concept of leadership, especially in Sundanese culture, always addressed to Siliwangi. This research is focused on the oral literature with the theme of Prabu Siliwangi's leadership in Ciamis Regency, as one of the research loci that has deep traces in the history of the Padjadjaran Kingdom. Some of the relics of royal rulers can be seen in that place, both memorials and oral works of literature that mention Padjadjaran and Prabu Siliwangi in the area. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using Beynon's masculinity concept approach to the figure of King Siliwangi. The method used in this study includes data collection that is determining the text of the kidung found in Ciamis Regency that contains the concept of leadership; data processing by decoding and determining the concept of Siliwangi's leadership in the text; and compiling data in the form of writing research results into scientific work. Based on Beynon's criteria, the results showed that Prabu Siliwangi had masculinity-forming factors that made him so strong and could fulfill the ideals, both as a man and a leader.

Abstract

The problems discussed in this study are adapting curriculum changes from the 2013 curriculum to the independent curriculum in Indonesian learning in high school. This curriculum is because not all teachers understand the application of the independent curriculum to learning, especially Indonesian learning. For this reason, ethno-pragmatic learning strategies are needed to integrate with the independent curriculum in high school. This ethno-pragmatic learning strategy can accommodate the achievements of the Indonesian learning curriculum in high schools so that character strengthening can be achieved by the independent curriculum policy set in Decree of the Head of Balitbang of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology No. 028/H/KU/2021 concerning the learning outcomes of PAUD, SD, SMP, SMA, SDLB, SMPLB, and SMALB in the Driving School Program. The method is carried out with descriptive qualitative to understand students applying the Indonesian language curriculum in high school. Data were collected using observation methods, in-depth interviews, documentation with note-taking techniques, practical matching techniques, and focus group discussions with stakeholders in high school. The results showed that (1) the application of the ethno-pramatics method to Indonesian subjects in high school was able to accommodate the achievement of curriculum objectives in the use of the Indonesian language in a polite manner, and (2) The application of ethno-pragmatics methods to Indonesian subjects in high school can understand various multimodal texts based on context.

Abstract

The importance of using modal qualifiers as a component of argumentative writing in the discussion section of student theses has not been fully realized by students. In fact, this component greatly determines the level of strength of the argument as a vehicle for conveying scientific truth. Scientific truth can be tested through the strength of the argument that appears in the selection of the types of modal qualifiers that accompany the position statement. This study aims to describe the manifestation of the form and function of the modal qualifier as a booster in argumentative writing for thesis discussion. The research data is in the form of excerpts of claims which contain boosters from the thesis discussion section of students of the Indonesian Language Education Master’s Program at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta. Data was collected by listening method with note-taking technique. Furthermore, the stages of classification and typification of data are carried out. The analytical method used in this study is the distributional analysis method and the content analysis method. The results of this study are the following forms of capital qualifiers as boosters: (1) definitely, (2) necessary, (3) must, (4) certainly, and variations in form. This study also found seven booster functions as follows: (1) affirming by showing confidence, (2) affirming by giving recommendations, (3) affirming by confirming something, (4) affirming by confirmation of clarity, (5) affirming by inferring purpose, (6) affirming of intent by ensuring, (7) affirming by suggesting something.

Abstract

Prophetic is imitating the actions of the Prophet. Muslims should strike a balance between learning about their religion and the modern world, so studies of the prophets might become research material. They should work together to solve the issues confronting an Allah-inspired society. However, as contemporary science advances, religious science is abandoned, and humankind moves further away from ethical principles, humanization, transcendence, and liberty. Following what Muhammad taught as a prophet and the Messenger of Allah, creating prophetic science courses is an important matter to be addressed to merge the abundance of human knowledge with revelation. This research aimed to characterize the prophetic in the works of Habiburrahman El Shirazy and Ahmad Fuadi. Qualitative research methods were used for this study. In this study, content analysis was the methodology of choice. The information was presented as descriptions of the prophetic in the story in the form of words, sentences, and speeches. Kembara Rindu, Ayat-ayat Cinta 2 by Habiburrahman, El Shirazy, and Ahmad Fuadi's Menara 5: Negeri were the three books used for the research. According to the findings, the prophetic humanization sub-indicators connecting fraternity, mutual respect, responsibility, and caring may be noticed in those three novels. Helping the wrong people and being willing to make sacrifices are discovered to be indicators of the liberation prophecy. In contrast, the prophetic transcendence includes markers (prayer, dhikr, and prayer) of human dependence on God, affirms an absolute difference between God and humanity, and attributes recognition of God's absolute rules to human reason.

Abstract

Dysphemia 'pelakor' is an expression of negative emotions that distort meaning which is currently a global issue. This study focuses on the form, meaning, type, and function of the ‘pelakor’ dysphemia. In addition, the focus is also on the existence of gender bias in the dysphemia so that it will be reviewed with a Sociolinguistic Approach. This study uses a qualitative framework that obtains 8 data from print media, 13 data from electronic media, and 7 data from social media. Data collection was done by sorting out the expression of 'pelakor' dysphemia and then analyzing it in three stages, namely, reduction, presentation, and data verification. The results of the study show that 'pelakor' is in the form of negative emotional expressions, meaning contempt, type of nickname, and functions to humiliate others. In addition, pelakor dysphemia is used to characterize women's identity which is very low and bad and is displayed with anger. There is a gender bias in 'pelakor' dysphemia which is mapped into three points, a) occurs due to male dominance, b) is influenced by culture and social status, c) is conveyed by the women's community. This finding is concluded based on the variation of the language used by women and to describe women. This research is expected to be theoretical and practical contribution in improving gender inequality in Indonesia.

Abstract

In linguistic studies, one element that needs to be considered is how metaphor functions as an identity. Using words or word combinations in a manner that is not intended to convey their literal meaning is an example of a metaphor. Because of this, we can deduce that metaphor possesses a linguistic identity and functions as a point of view. This study uses qualitative research, which refers to research that does not get its findings via statistical processes or other types of calculation. The research in question processes pliable and malleable sorts of data. This makes it possible to adjust the data structure while the research is still in progress. The study's findings indicate that metaphor can be described as a disclosure of something that has a figurative meaning. That metaphor is linked to other types of figurative language, such as metonymy and personification. Metaphors can be studied as a branch of linguistics and analyzed based on the elements of sentences or the structures of sentences. It has been demonstrated via the study of languages that the components of metaphors consist of literal expressions as well as imaginative ones that are metaphorical.

Abstract

To make people aware not to be influenced by discursive practices carried out by capitalists, this study seeks to explore the forms and persuasive strategies of advertorial advertisements found in the newspapers of Jawa Pos, Kompas, and Republika. Through this research, it is expected that people can use the goods and services offered according to their needs, not because they are influenced by persuasive language that is deliberately used by advertising producers. To examine these efforts in discourse can be dismantled through the theory of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). This qualitative research shows that persuasive diction in advertorial advertisements uses superlative construction, comparative construction, nominalization, transitive verbs, and adjectives as symbols. In terms of strategy, persuasive diction in advertorials is conveyed by the strategy of providing scholarly images, images of using high technology, images of product effectiveness, images of modern life, prestigious and luxurious images, and images of enjoyment and satisfaction.Advertorials generally have meanings that can represent the experience and knowledge of the community. In short, the findings show that persuasive language aims to build a positive image to potential consumers, through which they can get as much profit as possible. Without realizing what is done by advertising producers through persuasive forms and the strategies they use is a form of hegemony.
