Abstract

Islamic economics and finance are experiencing rapid global growth; however, literacy within Indonesia’s insurance brokerage sector remains low, necessitating empowerment initiatives to enhance understanding and compliance with Sharia principles. This community empowerment initiative aims to improve Islamic economic and financial literacy among insurance brokers by introducing the principles of Sharia contracts and examining the potentials and challenges of the Islamic insurance brokerage industry. The workshop was held on July 4, 2025, at PT. Perisai Bhakti Raharjo involved 29 participants and employed a participatory approach combining interactive lectures, case discussions, and group-based problem-solving sessions. The outcomes significantly improved participants’ understanding of Sharia financial concepts. The majority could differentiate between conventional and Islamic insurance, comprehend the role of Islamic insurance brokers, and recognize the application of Sharia contracts in financial transactions. These findings indicate that community-based, participatory learning effectively enhances Sharia financial literacy and professional competence, particularly in underexplored sectors such as insurance brokerage. This workshop is a practical reference and a replicable model for similar initiatives to increase Sharia compliance awareness within Indonesia’s financial sector. In conclusion, the Islamic Economic and Finance Literacy Workshop for Insurance Brokers improved participants’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the Islamic insurance industry, the foundational Islamic legal principles, and the application of Sharia-compliant contractual mechanisms.

Abstract

Using AI in primary education can enhance teachers’ efficiency in developing instructional materials aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum, reduce their workload, and improve the quality of learning through contextual and continuous training. This activity was conducted at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta Darul Ulum Lamongan due to its diverse student population, strong commitment to improving educational quality, and the pressing need to develop technological innovations in the teaching and learning process in the region. The method involved tutorials, hands-on practice, and discussions carried out in three phases: needs assessment, intensive training with mentoring, and evaluation through reflection and feedback. Results indicate that the AI-assisted learning management support program was successfully implemented and received positive responses from participating teachers. The process began with a needs analysis through discussions and surveys, revealing low levels of digital literacy and limited experience among teachers using AI tools. The core training phase was delivered through tutorials and practical sessions using applications like ChatGPT and Merlin AI to help design teaching materials. Interactive discussions encouraged active participation and boosted teachers’ confidence. The final evaluation showed that teachers felt significantly supported, became more efficient in performing administrative tasks, and were motivated to integrate AI into their teaching activities sustainably. Conclusion: The integration of artificial intelligence through tutorials, practical sessions, and discussions effectively enhanced teachers’ ability to design innovative and efficient instructional materials, while also promoting the integration of technology into the learning process.

Abstract

Halal products hold significant religious and cultural importance for Muslims, ensuring adherence to Islamic law, ethical practices, sustainability, and consumer trust through certification, enhancing competitiveness and contributing to the development of the global halal industry. This community service activity aims to describe the mentoring process for halal certification via the self-declare scheme, starting from obtaining a business permit through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system to the submission of documents on the SiHalal platform. The activity employed a Participatory Action Research approach, involving 100 small business actors and 10 mentors in Susukan Village, using presentations and documentation as supporting media. The results indicate that the halal certification mentoring program is a close collaboration between halal facilitators and business actors, resulting in the successful acquisition of business identification numbers and halal certificates. The business permits were obtained through the OSS website, while halal certification was submitted through the SiHalal platform. The self-declare scheme is only applicable to businesses that do not process meat-based products, use packaging free from pornographic elements, and have product names that are free from ethnic, religious, racial, or inter-group issues. Certification submission requires the business owner's identity, business license number, and product photos with proper packaging. The halal certificate enhances consumer trust, expands distribution opportunities, and supports Indonesia's goal of becoming a global halal hub. In conclusion, the halal certification mentoring was well received, significantly improving the legal standing of business actors' products and expanding their market reach.

Abstract

Aloe vera is a versatile plant with numerous health and beauty benefits; however, its cultivation potential has not been fully optimised due to residents' limited knowledge and skills in both cultivation and processing. The cultivation and processing of aloe vera in RW 06, Gandasari Subdistrict, Jatiuwung District, Tangerang City, was carried out to increase community income. The methodology employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), involving stages such as socialisation, training on cultivation and processing, provision of resources, technical assistance, and marketing strategies based on local needs. The results of the community service program indicated several stages of implementation. Land preparation for aloe vera cultivation involved weeding, loosening the soil to 30–50 cm depth, and allowing it to rest for 1–2 weeks. Soil was treated 2–3 times with the addition of fertilisers, followed by the construction of planting beds 100–120 cm wide and 20–25 cm high. Seedlings were planted at a 5–7 cm depth with spacing of either 50 x 75 cm or 50 x 100 cm. A survey of 10 respondents revealed that 60% successfully produced aloe vera gel and 50% attempted to make healthy beverages. The program received positive feedback, with 88% of participants understanding the benefits, 90% reporting that they were supported by providing seedlings and tools, and 70% understanding marketing strategies, indicating overall training success. Conclusion: The program had a positive impact, as the community successfully engaged in aloe vera cultivation, supported the local economy, and contributed to creating new job opportunities.
