Abstract

Low community participation, limited infrastructure, restricted access to education and healthcare, and insufficient routine services hinder the development of agricultural and MSME potentials, as well as the sustainable and inclusive growth of village communities. This community service aims to boost community capacity through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach by strengthening collaborative participation, independence, and the sustainable use of local resources. The methodology used was Participatory Action Research, which involved problem identification, joint planning, implementation of educational, religious, and health programs, and participatory evaluation, engaging the community as active partners throughout the entire process in a sustainable way. The program's outcomes show improved student understanding through tutoring, increased social awareness via anti-bullying seminars, and better Quran reading skills among children through religious activities. Community participation in joint activities has begun to grow, and planting medicinal and nutritional plants (TOGA) has promoted health awareness and the use of local resources. The program also enhanced social bonds within the community and expanded understanding of the village’s economic potential, although participation from some residents remains limited and needs further improvement. PAR-based community service effectively strengthens community capacity, participation, and the use of local resources, but it requires ongoing support and broader involvement. This program is important for fostering sustainable village development through community empowerment, local capacity building, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders.

Abstract

Religious extension workers face challenges in delivering da'wah effectively, persuasively, and adaptively, resulting in messages that are often unclear, less courteous, and less relevant. This community service aims to enhance the communication competence of religious extension workers, making them more effective, empathetic, persuasive, and targeted. The methods employed include Participatory Action Research (PAR), material presentation, interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and case studies, supported by facilities such as halls, projectors, screens, sound systems, training modules, notebooks, stationery, banners, certificates, refreshments, and seminar media. The participants are active functional and non-functional religious extension workers. The results indicate a significant improvement in communication understanding and skills, the ability to apply effective communication principles, interpersonal techniques, and adaptive da'wah strategies; practical simulations strengthened empathetic and persuasive abilities and expanded collaboration networks. In conclusion, the program successfully enhanced the competence and effectiveness of da'wah. Its significance demonstrates the contribution of higher education institutions to the development of religious human resources and the improvement of da'wah service quality.

Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in Indonesia. Patients with CAD frequently experience psychological burdens such as stress, anxiety, and depression, which negatively affect their quality of life and disease prognosis. At the community level, particularly in Puskesmas Lubuk Buaya, cases of coronary heart disease remain significant, while psychological support services are still limited. This situation highlights the urgency of integrating psychological interventions into community health services. This community service program aimed to optimize the psychological wellbeing of patients with coronary artery disease by implementing mindfulness therapy at Puskesmas Lubuk Buaya, as well as to enhance healthcare workers' capacity in applying a mindfulness-based approach in routine practice. This community service program was conducted from July to September 2025 using a community-based participatory approach. Activities included participant screening, psychoeducation, guided mindfulness practice, and independent home exercises. Quantitative evaluation demonstrated an increase in mean psychological wellbeing scores from pre- to post-program, indicating improved emotional regulation and perceived wellbeing among participants. These findings suggest that mindfulness-based community service activities may support psychological wellbeing in CAD patients and can be integrated as a complementary approach within primary healthcare settings.

Abstract

The Edutechnoentrepreneurship training aims to enhance educators' and parents' digital proficiency in the innovative, interactive, and secure application of educational technology to facilitate early childhood learning. The Community Service Program commenced with a needs assessment, the creation of materials, and the formulation of practice-oriented activities. The activities took place in person at the Tambaksari Subdistrict Hall in Surabaya, utilizing Participatory Action Research (PAR) lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, facilitated by an LCD projector, a laptop, and an audio system. The training yielded substantial improvements in participants' comprehension and abilities. Educators and guardians utilized child-appropriate educational applications and created straightforward digital media, including instructional videos, interactive worksheets, and educational games, to enhance children's cognitive and linguistic development. Moreover, participants' understanding of digital safety improved, as evidenced by the adoption of parental control mechanisms and prudent screen time management. The training enhanced collaboration between schools and homes via communication on digital platforms. Participants' mindsets transitioned toward enhanced innovation, propelled by creative facilitators. Children exhibited heightened enthusiasm, confidence, and active engagement in the learning process. Despite challenges including limited devices and the necessity for continuous support, the program successfully cultivated an innovative, secure, and sustainable digital learning ecosystem.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology presents fundamental challenges in child-rearing dynamics, particularly in parent-child communication in the digital era. This community service activity aims to enhance parents’ abilities in managing communication, parenting, and supervision of children’s gadget use. The program was implemented in Matagara Village, targeting parents struggling with screen time management, establishing gadget rules, and maintaining warm, empathetic, and constructive dialogue with their children. The method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), consisting of problem identification through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), intervention via a ±4-hour seminar “Parenting Communication in the Digital Era” using interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, and impact evaluation through pre-tests, participatory observation, and follow-up interviews. Results indicated improved parental communication competence in knowledge, attitudes, and skills. Before the seminar, most participants lacked understanding of digital parenting and did not have home gadget rules, whereas after the seminar, they began setting time limits, practicing dialogical two-way communication, and increasing open conversations with their children about digital activities. These findings confirm that community-based educational interventions through participatory parenting seminars effectively strengthen family capacity to develop adaptive parenting while supporting the growth of more resilient, digitally literate children.

Abstract

The problem in this activity is the low level of parents’ understanding regarding healthy gadget use, which can hinder the optimal social development of preschool-aged children. The purpose of this training is to improve parents’ knowledge about healthy gadget use to support children’s personal and social development. The training method used is interactive health education through lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and participatory reflection with participating parents. The training results show a significant increase in parents’ knowledge of healthy, controlled gadget use for preschool children. Parents have a better understanding of the importance of limiting screen time, selecting age-appropriate content, and encouraging children to interact more with their social environment. In addition, there is a shift in parenting attitudes toward more informed, educational digital parenting practices, and children show improved social interaction, such as being more active in playing with peers and reduced gadget dependence. In conclusion, this training is effective in increasing parents’ knowledge and supporting children’s social development in a more optimal and balanced way. The significance of this training lies in its role as a preventive and promotive effort to improve the quality of family digital parenting in the modern technological era.
