Abstract

Digital transformation is a pivotal factor in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This study examines the key determinants influencing MSME digitalization in Kabupaten Bekasi through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and spatial analysis. The PCA results identify five primary factors: individual readiness, organizational capability, cultural mindset, regulatory support, and ecosystem infrastructure. Spatial analysis employing the Moran’s Index and Local Indicator of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) reveals an uneven digital adoption pattern across 23 districts, forming four distinct clusters: High-High, High-Low, Low-High, and Low-Low.The findings underscore that MSME digitalization success is not solely contingent on individual readiness but is also shaped by institutional support, government policies, and the broader digital ecosystem. Consequently, a cluster-based digital transformation strategy is imperative: advanced clusters (High-High) should serve as role models, while lagging clusters (Low-Low) require targeted interventions, including infrastructure development and digital literacy initiatives. This study provides a robust foundation for policymakers to design more effective, evidence-based interventions aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable MSME digitalization.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of product innovation, access to capital, and contextual ambidexterity on the performance of SMEs in Pekanbaru City. This study uses a quantitative causality approach to answer the formulation of problems and research hypotheses. The population in this study were all SMEs in Pekanbaru City which amounted to 25,074 units. The sampling technique chosen was purposive sampling. The number of samples obtained was 394 SMEs using the Slovin formula. The type of data used is primary data and data collection techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The novelty in this study is that contextual ambidexterity variables are still rarely studied in SMEs in Indonesia and several previous studies also show a research gap. The results obtained are product innovation, access to capital, and contextual ambidexterity have a positive and significant effect on SME performance.

Abstract

The outcomes of development in each region depend on the endowment and management of the area. The differences of development outcomes cause the phenomenon of inequality in income distribution, which can be conceptually observed and measured by the Gini index. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR), and the Regional Minimum Wage (RMW) on income distribution inequality in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province for the period 2012-2023. This research employs panel data analysis with a mixed effect model and uses Stata 14 as the analytical tool. The study demonstrates that the HDI and OUR variables have a positive and significant impact on income distribution inequality, whereas the RMW variable does not have a significant effect on income distribution inequality in DIY from 2012 to 2023. Although the Gini index in DIY Province is relatively low, the results of the mixed effect model indicate significant inequality across its regencies/ cities. The local government of DIY and other related stakeholders should ensure that education, healthcare, and employment are accessible for all people in DIY.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the community-based economic model implemented within the Micro Small Agricultural Enterprises (MSAEs) community in Depok, Indonesia, in response to the city’s stagnant economic development over the past decade. Improving regional economic performance requires more than top-down policies; it demands active participation from the community to stimulate local economic growth. One promising approach is the development of a community-based economic system, where economic actors collaborate to foster self-reliance and sustainability. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Both primary data, collected through interviews and observations, and secondary data from relevant documents were utilized in this research. The findings reveal that the community-based economic model in the MSAEs community is built upon three core areas of activity: marketing, education, and social engagement. These areas work in synergy to create an ecosystem that encourages active participation and shared responsibility among members. In the marketing domain, the community plays a crucial role in expanding market access and enhancing the competitiveness of local products. In the education sector, training and capacity-building activities are organized to improve the skills and knowledge of community members. The social aspect reinforces the values of mutual aid and solidarity, fostering social cohesion and long-term sustainability of joint ventures. Through these integrated efforts, the MSAEs community contributes to building a resilient and inclusive people-centered economy. This model demonstrates the potential of community-based economic systems to revitalize local economies and address structural challenges in a post-growth urban context.

Abstract

Social entrepreneurship provides innovative approaches to addressing social challenges; however, students’ willingness to pursue this path remains relatively low. This study investigates the impact of social work experience and university-based entrepreneurial support on students’ social entrepreneurship intention, with empathy and self-efficacy serving as mediating variables. Employing a quantitative method, the study involved 230 student respondents and utilized Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 3.0 for data analysis. The findings reveal that both empathy and self-efficacy have a significant positive effect on students’ intention to engage in social entrepreneurship. Moreover, social work experience was found to enhance empathy, while university support contributed to strengthening students’ self-efficacy. These results highlight the critical role of meaningful social engagement and a supportive academic environment in fostering social entrepreneurial intentions. The practical implication suggests that higher education institutions should integrate entrepreneurship education with hands-on social involvement within their curricula.

The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of Social Media Marketing Activities (SMMA) on consumers’ online purchase intentions, with Brand Image and Brand Trust serving as mediating variables. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were gathered through a survey of 110 respondents who are active followers of the @njs.projects Instagram account, and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The findings indicate that SMMA significantly contributes to strengthening brand image and building consumer trust, which in turn positively affects online purchase intention. This research provides practical implications for businesses seeking to optimize their digital marketing efforts and adds to the growing academic literature on digital marketing strategy.

Abstract

The growing LPD Kesiman faces various problems, especially the risk of non-performing loans. Efforts made to improve the smoothness of credit payments are by providing rewards and punishments for credit customers. This research was conducted to determine the application of reward and punishment for credit customers and the implications for LPD Kesiman. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, collecting data by observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study were LPD Kesiman credit employees. The results showed that the implementation of reward and punishment for credit customers at the LPD Kesiman had gone well, rewards were given in the form of ease in managing credit, priority was given to credit, service and faster credit disbursement. Provision of punishment in the form of warning letters up to three times, summons to the LPD Kesiman office regarding bad credit constraints, as well as withdrawing credit collateral to be sold/auctioned to cover the amount of bad customer debt. The application of reward and punishment provides two types of implications for the Kesiman LPD, namely: the impact on credit development and the impact on the level of discipline of customers/debtors at the LPD Kesiman.
