Abstract

This study aims to develop e-comic learning media for teaching imperative sentences in fifth-grade Indonesian language classes. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) method based on the ADDIE model, the development process includes stages such as analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The resulting product underwent expert validation, receiving feasibility scores of 89.23% from media experts and 92.30% from language experts, both of which were categorised as “very feasible.” A limited trial was conducted with 29 fifth-grade students, yielding a positive response rate of 81.10%. The e-comic media integrates visual, interactive, and narrative elements tailored to the characteristics of the digital native generation, thereby increasing students’ learning interest and engagement. The findings indicate that e-comic media is not only highly feasible but also effective in enhancing learning motivation and participation in Indonesian language lessons. This media provides a practical and innovative solution for addressing the need for engaging instructional tools in primary education, supporting educators in optimising the learning experience for young students.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between the intensity of playing Mobile Legends and vocabulary development among senior high school students. The growing adoption of digital games for educational purposes—particularly in language learning—necessitates research into their integration within structured learning environments. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 25 purposively selected students from SMA Labschool Untad Palu who actively participated in a Mobile Legends extracurricular program. Data were collected through a 15-item Likert-scale questionnaire measuring gameplay intensity and a 30-item vocabulary test targeting common nouns, verbs, and adjectives derived from gameplay contexts. The questionnaire demonstrated strong internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.882), and all items were deemed valid. Results from the Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis indicated a moderate, statistically significant relationship between gameplay intensity and vocabulary acquisition (r = 0.538, p = 0.005). These findings suggest that structured digital gameplay in English-language environments can support incidental vocabulary learning and serve as an effective pedagogical supplement to conventional instruction.

Abstract

This research examines the effect of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach on the critical thinking skills of Grade IV elementary students while they are studying fractions. The study aims to enhance students' critical thinking abilities by implementing TaRL. Employing a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design, the study involved 41 SDN Polisi 2 Bogor fourth-grade students. Two classes, IVA and IVB, were selected through saturation sampling. Data collection tools included a 10-item critical thinking test and an observation sheet to assess critical thinking skills. Results indicate a significant enhancement in students' critical thinking skills with the TaRL approach, supported by hypothesis testing that yields a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). N-Gain test outcomes further illustrate the effectiveness of TaRL in improving critical thinking abilities, particularly in IVB class mathematics lessons on fractions, while fostering increased engagement and deeper conceptual understanding among students. These findings suggest that the TaRL approach can be incorporated into mathematics learning to enhance students’ critical thinking and conceptual grasp.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the human values in the script of the drama Mega-Mega by Arifin C. Noer through a humanistic psychology approach. The main focus of the research is to answer the question: How do the struggles of the characters in the drama reflect the five levels of human needs according to Abraham Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of needs? These five needs include physiological needs, a sense of security, social relationships, rewards, and self-actualization. The drama Mega-Mega depicts the lives of marginalized groups who struggle to maintain dignity amid social, economic, and political pressures. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with text Panutysis, identifying the manifestation of Maslow's needs in the behavior and dialogue of the characters. The results show that the conflict in the drama is not only external, but also reflects an existential crisis and the search for meaning in life. Characters like Mae, Koyal, and Retno experience the process of self-actualization through struggle, emotional attachment, and efforts to maintain dignity. Thus, Mega-Mega is not only a social critique, but also a reflective mirror of humanity's struggle in extreme conditions. This study offers a new perspective on the script through the lens of humanistic psychology, which was previously rarely used in the Panutysis of this drama.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental quantitative study. Descriptively, this study aims to describe the increase in environmental awareness of fourth-grade students at Ceger 1 State Elementary School in Bogor who have been learning using a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach based on local wisdom and a Scientific Approach. Comparatively, it tests the difference in the increase of environmental awareness among fourth-grade students at Ceger 1 State Elementary School in Bogor between learning using the CRT approach based on local wisdom and the scientific approach. The population of this study consists of all fourth-grade students at Ceger 1 State Elementary School in Bogor, which consists of two classes: class IV A with 17 students and class IV B with 17 students. The data collection technique used a testing instrument in the form of multiple-choice questions for the pretest and posttest, which had been trialled in class V with 19 students. The validity test results of 10 questions yielded a significance value < 0.05, meaning the instrument can be used. The data analysis technique employed descriptive analysis, equivalence tests, normality and homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that descriptively, the increase in environmental awareness with the CRT approach obtained an average of 91.76, which falls into the very high category, while environmental awareness using the scientific approach obtained an average of 75.88, which falls into the high category. Comparatively, there is a significant difference in the increased environmental awareness in the class taught using the local wisdom-based CRT and scientific approaches. The t-test results obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates that the local wisdom-based CRT approach significantly increases environmental awareness more than the scientific approach.

Abstract

This study explores how digital media enhances geography learning in Indonesian high schools, specifically focusing on SMA Swasta Budi Agung Medan. In the context of global advancements in educational technology, the integration of digital media in geography education has become increasingly relevant, particularly given the subject’s emphasis on spatial and visual understanding. This research aims to examine the role of digital media in supporting geography learning and to identify the challenges teachers face during its implementation. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving interviews with teachers, students, and school administrators at SMA Budi Agung Medan. The findings reveal that digital tools such as Quizizz, Wordwall, and Google Earth are actively used and have increased student motivation, engagement, and comprehension of complex geographical concepts. However, several challenges were identified, including limited access to digital devices among students, insufficient teacher readiness to integrate technology effectively, and difficulties maintaining classroom discipline during interactive sessions. The study concludes that while digital media significantly enriches geography learning, its success depends on improving infrastructure, providing continuous professional development for teachers, and adopting effective classroom management strategies. These findings offer valuable implications for policy development, teacher training programs, and curriculum planning to optimize the integration of digital media in geography education.

Abstract

This study examines whether Quizizz-based learning enhances students’ motivation in social studies, addressing the limited integration of gamified tools in Indonesian classrooms. Employing a quantitative experimental method with a post-test-only control group design, the research involved two randomly selected seventh-grade classes at SMP 1 Southeast Aceh. One class served as the experimental group using Quizizz-based learning, while the other functioned as the control group with conventional teaching methods. The sample consisted of 39 students—19 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group. Data were collected through post-test assessments measuring students' interest and engagement in learning. The results indicate a significant difference in learning engagement between the two groups. The experimental group achieved an average score of 90.78, while the control group averaged 61.05. An independent sample t-test yielded a t-value of 5.3693, exceeding the critical value of 1.684 at the 5% significance level (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically significant effect. These findings suggest that Quizizz-based learning positively influences student engagement in social studies. This study underscores integrating interactive digital tools to create a more engaging learning environment. It is recommended that educators incorporate platforms like Quizizz to foster active participation and enhance learning experiences. Future research should explore long-term impacts across diverse subjects and educational settings to broaden the applicability of gamified learning strategies in Indonesian education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse research trends on children's self-esteem education. This study uses the keywords "self-esteem" and "education" in the Scopus database, using the PRISMA framework and obtaining 772 documents analysed using VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, Microsoft Excel, and Publish or Perish (PoP) to map the results of the analysis with bibliometrics. The analysis results show that research on educational self-esteem from 1975 to 2025 experienced a peak in publication in 2024 and a productive peak in 2014 with an h-index of 16. The last 5 years of research on self-esteem are associated with children's social and psychological dimensions and academic performance. From the results of the systematic literature review, it is known that self-esteem affects children's confidence in their abilities, and this affects children's academic performance at school. Thus, learning that can improve students' self-esteem is supportive, reflective, participatory, problem-solving, and communicative learning, because these five characteristics help students feel valued.

Abstract

This research examines Cirebon Javanese phonological variation from a geolinguistic perspective, highlighting the lack of in-depth studies on its phonological structure compared to other Javanese dialects. The aim is to delineate and characterise systematic vowel, consonant, elision, and epenthesis variation across geographical and social settings. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, data were gathered using the Swadesh list from native informants in 267 villages of the Cirebon regency, which comprised a diverse range of social and geographical settings. The data thus obtained were phonetically transcribed and subsequently analysed through a programmed algorithm that sorted phonological differences. The findings demonstrate the presence of systematic vowel shifts (e.g., /a/ → /ɔ/, /i/ → /ə/), consonant alternations (e.g., /b/ ↔ /w/), as well as elision and epenthesis. The above variations are due to internal linguistic factors, such as syllable structure and stress patterns, as well as external sociolinguistic and geographical considerations. The impact is especially marked in the transitional dialect areas with hybrid phonological characteristics due to language contact and social identity dynamics. This study enhances insight into the phonological variation and evolution in multilingual and dialect-diverse areas.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the Moral Reasoning learning model in enhancing social awareness among fifth-grade students in Cluster V Cakranegara, Mataram. A quantitative quasi-experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design was used with 50 purposively sampled students divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the Moral Reasoning model, while the control group received the Value Clarification Technique model. Data were collected using observations and a validated social awareness questionnaire. Independent samples t-test results indicated a significant effect of the Moral Reasoning model on students’ social awareness (p = 0.048, t = 2.030). However, normalised gain analysis showed minimal improvement (mean N-Gain = 0.015), indicating a low increase. This suggests that despite its statistical significance, the model’s practical effectiveness in substantially enhancing students’ social awareness remains limited. Implementation challenges included uneven group participation and insufficient depth of moral reflection. These findings imply that although the Moral Reasoning model has potential as an instructional strategy, effective facilitation and sufficient time allocation are essential to achieve meaningful outcomes. Further research with longer intervention periods and improved facilitation strategies is recommended to optimise its impact on fostering social awareness in elementary education.
