Abstract

A culture of peace in education is a concept that emphasizes the importance of creating a harmonious learning environment and respecting differences to achieve an effective, conducive, and harmonious learning environment for students. Research on the culture of peace in education on the mental and social aspects of creating peace often receives less attention. The thoughts of figures such as Imam Al-Ghazali offer a holistic and comprehensive view of peace. This study aimed to explore Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on inner and social peace and how to build a culture of peace in education. A qualitative approach was chosen to understand Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts on inner and social peace and how these concepts can be applied in an educational context. The methods used in this research were literature study and content analysis. The three main works of Imam Al-Ghazali studied were Ihya 'Ulum al-Din, Al-Munqidh min al-Dalal, and Bidayat al-Hidayah. The results showed three principles in building a culture of peace: inner peace, cleansing of the soul, and noble character. This study has an implication to pay attention to mental and social aspects of creating a harmonious learning environment by strengthening the values of tolerance, empathy, justice, cooperation, and peaceful conflict resolution in the curriculum and learning. In addition, the character building of students who can communicate, think critically, and solve problems peacefully should be prioritized in education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by moral decline in the current era of globalization, within the family, school, and community. Education has an essential role in rebuilding individual character values. Imam Al-Ghazali's character education concepts in Ihya’ Ulumuddin are fascinating because of the many character values reflected and discussed. This study uses a type of library research with a qualitative approach. Primary and secondary data are obtained, collected, and processed through re-examination (editing), organizing the data, and finding the results, then re-analyzed using content analysis techniques to know the benefits, marks, or effects. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that the concept of character education for Imam Al-Ghazali has two main elements: soul character, which is reflected in sincere worship for God, and physical character, which is reflected in good morals and deepening helpful knowledge. These two characters encourage a person to have a clean heart by continuously doing good for the happiness of oneself and others. Characters emerge that connect us with Allah S.W.T. and other people, such as the character of discipline in praying five times a day and in carrying out work, working hard and independently in all activities, being responsible and respecting the rights of others, being friendly and communicative in socializing, and love peace and love for our beloved motherland.

Abstract

Islamic Early Childhood Education institutions' development strategy means the strategies institutions use for a planned process of change that requires support from all parties, including management and employees. This change is expected to develop and improve the institution of Early Childhood Education, which requires short-, medium-, and long-term efforts to face changes in the future. This study aims to find out what strategy is suitable for an Islamic early childhood education institution in a multicultural society, using the case study of Samirono Village. This type of research is Qualitative Research. The approach used is phenomenology. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The validity of the data was tested using triangulation techniques derived from observations and interviews with teachers and villagers. The results showed that strategies are establishing good communication with local village officials involving local communities in managing institutions to be accepted by local communities. This research is essential for developing Islamic early childhood education institutions in multicultural societies. The appropriate strategy in establishing communication with village officials and involving local communities in the institution's management makes the institution integrate well into the surrounding environment. This strategy helps Islamic early childhood education institutions to thrive and face future challenges. This study implies that establishing educational institutions with a specific religious identity in a multicultural society requires effective strategies, coordination with related parties, and support from the community.

Abstract

Learning in pesantren or Islamic boarding school is often identified with backward learning, old-fashioned thinking, and an inability to respond to current developments. Ma'had Aly Sukorejo Situbondo dismissed this view. The presence of Ma'had Aly broke the barriers of backwardness that had been running in the pesantren. This article examines the transformation of Ma'had Aly's academic tradition through its learning innovations. This study used a qualitative approach, the type of field research, and data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis technique is formulated through the described data categorization and the interpretation of the data acquired through the theories used in this study. The results of this study show that Ma'had Aly Sukorejo Situbondo has transformed its education through learning innovation, combining the teacher-centered and student-centered approaches by developing learning methods in the form of al-Ta'lim wa Al-Tadris, structured assignments, dialogues, lectures, and general stadiums. In reviewing the books in the curriculum, Ma’had Aly Sukorejo provides the broadest possible opportunities for teachers to learn with various learning innovations. From the perspective of innovation, Ma'had Aly has adopted Neo-Modernism thinking. The learning strategies include textual, contextual, comparative, Maqasidiyah, and Naqdiyah. This study has implications for the scientific development of pesantren education in general and pesantren higher education in particular, that the tradition of thinking in pesantren is from stagnant to critical (dynamic) thinking.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the difference in emotional intelligence and Islamic religious education learning outcomes of full-day and boarding school seventh-grade students at Diponegoro Junior High School, Depok, Yogyakarta, in the 2022/2023 academic year. A quantitative approach with ex post facto design (causal-comparative) was employed. The population was all seventh-grade students, namely 180 students. 32 full-day and 32 boarding school students were selected as samples using a purposive sampling technique for their low Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires and the administration of tests. These data were then analyzed using hypothesis testing with independent sample t-tests and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed that first, there is a difference in the emotional intelligence of full-day and boarding school students, as evidenced by the p-value of 0.036 <00.5, which is shown from the average value of emotional intelligence of full-day school students of 77.469 while boarding school students of 81.938. Second, there is a difference in Islamic religious education learning outcomes of full-day and boarding school students, as evidenced by the p-value of 0.001 <0.05, which is indicated by the average value of Islamic religious education learning outcomes of full-day school students of 77.813, while boarding school students of 90.000. This study contributes to developing a scientific theory about the difference in emotional intelligence and learning outcomes of full-day and boarding school students. Particularly for low-achiever students, a boarding school environment with good management and learning quality might better influence their emotional intelligence and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education is an integral part of the government's program. Enhancing the quality of education requires mapping based on educational levels and regions to provide an up-to-date depiction of the implementation and distribution of education. The purpose of this research is to map the quality of education in East Kalimantan based on the Geographical Information System (GIS). One of the government's accelerated development programs is to ensure equal distribution in improving the quality of education across all regions of the Republic of Indonesia. One step in implementing this program is mapping the quality of education through schools. Mapping the quality of education through schools is expected to portray the actual conditions in the field. The mapping is intended to generate evaluations, policies, recommendations, and planning programs for future education quality improvement. This research discusses mapping education quality using a geographical mapping method through observation and interviews. The collected data is subsequently grouped according to the boundaries of each region, designing maps based on the geographical conditions of the areas to be mapped. OpenJUMP software for GIS is utilized to integrate observation data and polygon maps of East Kalimantan, describing the analysis results for each mapped area. The implementation of the research findings and drawing conclusions will use Ms. Excel 2010 and Open Jump for GIS. The conclusion drawn from the GIS-based education quality mapping is that the clustering method can effectively visualize the distribution of education quality for each area, facilitating visual analysis. Mapping Education Quality in East Kalimantan based on Geographic Information System (GIS) is capable and effective in spatially identifying the distribution of education quality. Based on the grouping according to 8 parameters of the National Education Standards, it is concluded that several parameters, particularly Infrastructure Standards and Process Standards, have the highest number of categories not meeting the National Education Standards in each mapped area. This indicates that each parameter of the National Education Standards is still unevenly implemented.

Abstract

Abstract

This research focuses on examining the influence of the intensity of tahfidz students in engaging with online games on student achievement within the tahfidz program at the Islamic Elementary School level in Tulungagung Regency. This research constituted an ex post facto quantitative investigation to elucidate the interrelationship among variables. The study population comprised students from several Islamic elementary schools participating in the Tahfidz program, totalling 143 students. The sampling technique employed was non-probability sampling, specifically purposive sampling. The research sample consisted of fifth- and sixth-grade tahfidz students who played online games for more than one hour per day, which amounted to 113 students. This study collected data based on the pure value of students' tahfidz proficiency as stated in their semester one report card. The outcomes of this research demonstrate that the extent of engagement in online gaming significantly impacts the tahfidz achievement of students by 37.9%, with a significance value (sig.) derived from the coefficient table at 0.001 < 0.05. This suggests that the variable of online gaming (X) exerts a significant influence on the tahfidz performance of students (Y). Based on the research findings, the intensity of playing online games can be a significant factor in determining the achievement of tahfidz students in Islamic elementary schools, thus necessitating further supervision from parents and educators. The study results imply the importance of a comprehensive and collaborative approach in addressing the negative impacts of the digital era, including the intensity of playing online games, by involving various stakeholders such as educators and parents, thereby supporting students to develop holistically.
