Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) is a plant belonging to the Liliaceae family, characterized by thick, fleshy leaves that are long, tapering at the tips, green in color, and contain a mucilaginous gel. Aloe vera cultivation can be conducted in coastal sandy soil. However, one of the major challenges of coastal sandy soil is abiotic stress caused by salinity. The propagation source significantly influences both generative and vegetative growth of the plant. This study aims to determine the optimal combination of propagation source and salinity stress for improving the generative and vegetative growth of Aloe vera in coastal sandy soil. The research was conducted in Tegalretno Village, Petanahan District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Cultivation took place inside a greenhouse measuring 21m x 10m. The plants were grown in 40 cm polybags, with a 50 cm spacing between each plant. A total of 252 plants were used in the study. The experiment followed a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. Data were analyzed using SPSS at a 5% significance level. The results demonstrated that the interaction between propagation source and salinity levels in coastal sandy soil significantly influenced both vegetative and generative growth of Aloe vera. The best vegetative growth was observed in the combination of propagation source from Gunung Kidul with an additional 10 g/L salinity (A1C2), producing an average plant height of 67.125 cm. Meanwhile, the highest number of shoots (3.69 shoots per week) was obtained in the combination of propagation source from Cilacap with an additional 10 g/L salinity (A3C2). Abstract

Land use patterns are prominent factors affecting the abundance and diversity of soil macrofauna and in turn affect structure and soil function. This study was carried out on farmers' land from October to December 2022. The study aims to evaluate the abundance, diversity and dominance as well as the richness of soil macrofauna on coconut and rambutan area and reeds field. Sampling for soil macrofauna used the monolith method and separation of macrofauna using hand sorting techniques. Monolith plots measuring of 20 x 20 cm with a depth of 20 cm were placed randomly for each land use with 3 replications. Data analysis was carried out on abundance, diversity and dominance of macrofauna as well as the taxon richness. Analysis of variance was also applied on the abundance and diversity of macrofauna. The results highlighted that the abundance and diversity of soil macrofauna was the highest in the reeds land in which the soil never been disturbed, followed by coconut and rambutan plantations. On the other hand, termite was dominance in coconut plantations by 82.30%, while earthworm was dominance in rambutan plantations by 64.36%. The current study concluded that the existence of soil macrofauna is a paramount important to be maintained as the main soil fertility engineer in agricultural land.

Abstract

The Panyaweuyan terraced area is a tourist area that has local wisdom values from farming culture in the area. These local wisdom values attract tourists to visit, starting from just enjoying its beauty, educational tours and even historical tours of farming culture. Seeing the above phenomenon, it is necessary to direct this research to measure the satisfaction of visitors to Panyaweuyan agrotourism and its impact on the development of Panyaweuyan agrotourism itself. The aim of this research is to identify visitor satisfaction and its impact on the development of Panyaweuyan agrotourism. The research method used in this research is a survey method and the selection of research locations was carried out purposively. Respondents were determined using an accidental sampling technique with a limit of 60 visitors. Meanwhile, this research technique uses IPA and CSI analysis techniques to determine visitor satisfaction with a descriptive approach. This is done by describing, identifying and interpreting something that exists or is happening and being experienced in the research object to determine its impact on the development of Panyaweuyan agrotourism. The research results show that by carrying out CSI analysis, tourists are satisfied with what Panyaweuyan agrotourism offers (scenery, services, and facilities) with a satisfaction level of 74.95%. Meanwhile, the results of the IPA analysis show that there are still many things that are priorities for improving agrotourism, three of which are natural scenery, tourism service procedures and the benefits felt by visitors.

Abstract

Synbiotic is a combination of probiotics and prebiotics that provide benefits for improving feed digestibility and the balance of microorganisms in the digestive tract of poultry to support health. In the context of synbiotics, probiotics act as living microorganisms that inhabit the digestive tract, while prebiotics serve as food for these probiotics. This combination aims to enhance the positive effects of live microorganisms and facilitate their proliferation in the intestine. The use of synbiotics in basal feed can reduce feed costs so that farmers get higher profits. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review of published studies related to the use of synbiotics in poultry in terms of composition, method of use, and results obtained. There are more than 1200 titles displayed related to nutritional supplements obtained from data extracts on Scopus as a result of searching the database. Subsequently, the screening stage was carried out so that 36 relevant journals were discussed in detail in this systematic review. The results of the mapping and review of the articles showed that synbiotic supplementation has a positive effect on productivity as well as being able to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria and increase the shelf life of poultry meat.

Abstract

Plants require nutrients to carry out various essential physiological processes in their lives. Iron (Fe) is one of the important micronutrients that are essential for plant growth and reproduction. Although plants only need Fe in relatively small amounts, compounds containing Fe play a crucial role in various physiological processes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Fe fertilizer on yield and economic feasibility in tomato plants. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with 7 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were without inorganic fertilization (P0), comparison inorganic fertilization (P1), and 5 levels of inorganic Fe fertilization: 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 l/ha of inorganic Fe fertilizer applied at 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks after planting (WAP). The results of the experiment showed that the application of 1.25 doses of inorganic Fe fertilizer (2.5 l/ha/application) resulted in the highest plant growth and yield components and tomato yield compared to the control treatment. That treatment also showed the most effective dose agronomically and economically. The recommended dose for tomato plants is 2.5 l/ha/application applied 4 times, namely at 4, 6, 8, and 10 WAP by foliar spray.

Abstract

Lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.) are a type of vegetable with high economic value. The community widely consumes them due to their many health benefits and ease of cultivation. This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from gamal leaves + 50% NPK on the growth and production of lettuce as a substitute for 100% NPK fertilizer. The research was conducted at the State Agricultural Polytechnic of Payakumbuh from February to May 2025 using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four nutrient treatments: 100% NPK, 70 ml LOF/litre of water + 50% NPK, 100 ml LOF/litre of water + 50% NPK, and 130 ml LOF/litre of water + 50% NPK. Each treatment was repeated six times, resulting in 24 experimental units. The data obtained were analized with one-way ANOVA and further tested using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the provision of nutrients has a significant effect (p<0,05) on the fresh weight of leaves, canopy weight, root weight, and root length, but does not have a significant effect (p>0,05) on leaf width and length. It can be concluded that the use of 70 ml LOF/litre of water + 50% NPK has proven to be very effective in replacing 100% NPK, and can improve soil quality, supporting a sustainable agricultural system.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the intercropping pattern of green mustard and spring onions given Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) of rabbit urine on growth and production. The study used the experimental method with randomized Block Design (RBD). All treatments received fertilization with rabbit urine LOF at the same dose (50 ml/l water), and the treatments are P1 (monoculture of mustard greens), P2 (intercropping of mustard greens ₊ one row of spring onions), and P3 (intercropping of green mustard ₊ two rows of spring onions). Each treatment was repeated six times, so there were 18 treatment units. The growth and production components of green mustard and spring onions were the variables observed in this study. The data obtained were tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and further tested with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Furthermore, The effectiveness of planting patterns was evaluated using the Land Equity Ratio (LER) to compare land use efficiency with the economic benefits of the monoculture pattern. The results showed that the planting system with an intercropping pattern can increase (p<0.05) the growth and production of green mustard except for the variables of leaf length and root length (p>0.05). Meanwhile, the intercropping system of mustard greens, with both one row and two rows, provides higher land use efficiency than monocultures, with LER values of 2,132 and 3,334, respectively. It can be concluded that a planting system with an intercropping pattern between mustard greens and spring onions is an ideal and recommended combination.

Abstract

Soybean (Glycine max L.) is an important food commodity after rice in Indonesia, but domestic productivity is still low so that dependence on imports remains high. One strategy to increase sustainable productivity is through the use of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) based on organic waste, such as sago pulp (Metroxylon sagu), which contains essential nutrients and can improve soil fertility. This study aims to evaluate the effect of sago pulp POC application on the growth and yield of Wilis soybean variety. The study was conducted in Lamasi District, Luwu Regency, Palopo City in April–August 2024, using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with six POC concentration treatments (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 ml/L of water) and four replications. The parameters observed included plant height, flowering age, number of pods, and dry weight of pods. The results showed that the application of sago pulp POC had a significant effect on all parameters. The highest treatment (250 ml/L) produced maximum plant height (60.01 cm), the highest number of pods (168.42 pods), and the largest dry weight of pods (91.57 g). Meanwhile, the 100 ml/L treatment accelerated the flowering age to 37.42 HST. Sago pulp POC has been proven to be able to significantly increase vegetative and generative growth of soybeans, as well as being an alternative solution for environmentally friendly fertilization that supports sustainable agriculture and the independence of national soybean production.
