Abstract

The construction of the village boundary monument is a form of community service that aims to provide clarity on the administrative boundaries of an area and strengthen village identity. This activity was carried out by lecturers and students of Indo Global Mandiri University in Ujan Mas Village, Jangkar Mas Village, Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra Province, considering that this village does not have a clear boundary marker. The method of implementing this activity consists of several stages, namely location surveys, designing designs using AutoCAD, preparing a Budget Plan (RAB) with Microsoft Excel, making 3D designs using SketchUp and building monuments according to agreed designs. The survey was conducted to determine the strategic location in accordance with the administrative boundaries of the village, while the design was made by considering the aesthetic aspects and character of the village. The preparation of the RAB aims to manage cost needs effectively, so that development can run according to the available budget, the Budget Plan needed for the construction of the village boundary monument is IDR 9,526,500. The result of this activity is a village boundary monument that not only functions as an area marker, but also as a symbol of village identity that strengthens cultural values and clarifies administrative boundaries. The existence of this monument is expected to support more organized regional management and provide long-term benefits for the Ujan Mas Village community.

Abstract

One of the prevalent issues in rural communities is the low awareness of efficient and safe use of electricity and electrical appliances, often resulting in hazards such as short circuits, electric shocks, and residential fires, particularly among housewives as the primary users. In response, an educational outreach was conducted on March 18, 2025, as part of the Community Service Program (KKNT) in Palintang Hamlet, Cipanjalu Village. The objective was to provide education and raise awareness about efficient and safe electricity use. Sixteen housewives participated, using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a pre-test and post-test design. The content included electrical safety tips, demonstrations of proper cable installation, and best practices for using electrical appliances. To assess effectiveness, participants completed pre- and post-tests. Results indicated a significant knowledge improvement, with average scores increasing from 73 to 98. This demonstrates the training’s effectiveness in enhancing awareness and understanding of safe electricity use. Participants showed high engagement and expressed intentions to apply the knowledge in their households. This initiative highlights the potential of practical electrical education in rural settings to improve community safety.

Abstract

Child marriage remains a critical issue in Central Java, including in Demak Regency, particularly due to cases of premarital pregnancy. One of the root causes is the lack of early sexual education. This Community Service Program aimed to raise awareness and understanding among parents—specifically PKK women cadres in RW 30, Batursari Village—on the importance of providing sexual education at home from an early age. The activity employed a participatory outreach method, beginning with the screening of short films on sexual education, followed by an educational session led by an educational psychologist. The results indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of early sexual education, along with a stronger readiness to discuss the topic openly with their children or grandchildren. The use of film proved effective in building empathy and served as an emotional bridge to open dialogue. This program demonstrates that media and communication-based interventions, when applied contextually and sensitively, can help shift public perception on issues still widely considered taboo. Keywords— child marriage, early sexual education, film media, parental role, participatory outreach.

Abstract

The Smart Money Management community service program was designed to improve financial literacy, self-efficacy, and reduce risky credit behavior among students at Kirirom Institute of Technology (KIT), Cambodia. In the context of students facing challenges in personal financial management due to lack of knowledge and experience, this program aims to equip them with basic knowledge of financial management through an educational and interactive approach. The implementation method includes delivering materials on the concepts of SMART Goal and Smart Money Management, as well as participatory training activities in the form of frugal living action pictures. The evaluation results showed that the financial literacy score increased from 2.37 to 2.57, and self-efficacy from 3.28 to 3.7, while the perception of risky credit behavior decreased by 0.08 points. In addition, the results of the personal assessment showed an increase in the number of students who had a high understanding of finance from 2 to 7 people. These findings indicate that the program was successful in improving participants' understanding and positive attitudes towards financial management. Thus, this program contributes to strengthening students' ability to make wise financial decisions and fostering a disciplined and independent attitude in managing their finances in the future.

Abstract

The Patuwen Kopi program initiated by Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan (GKJW) involves four coffee farmer groups in Malang and Jombang that face significant challenges in product marketing. The primary problems include limited marketing access, dependency on middlemen, and lack of knowledge about digital marketing strategies, resulting in declining economic value of coffee products. This study aims to optimize the commercial value of agricultural products through the development of a website-based digital marketing platform to support the sustainability of the Patuwen Kopi program. The research employed Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methodology consisting of four stages: problem identification using 5 Whys technique, community needs identification, determination of alternative solutions and problem-handling priorities, and identification of ideal solutions. This approach ensures active participation of farmer groups in formulating sustainable solutions. The study successfully developed an e-commerce website application with five main features: landing page for digital marketing media, product page for catalog and ordering, article page for community branding, admin page for dynamic content management, and transactional page for sales recording. The website is integrated with WhatsApp to facilitate communication and transactions, equipped with monthly sales reporting system. The developed digital platform successfully meets the needs of farmer groups in terms of digital marketing, community branding, and transaction recording. The application has undergone limited testing and meets community expectations to support the Patuwen Kopi program, with potential for further development according to future business needs.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Ketalo Hamlet, Gadingsari Village, Bantul Regency, with the aim of increasing farmers' understanding of the importance of fertilization based on soil test results for rice plants. The activity began with soil sampling and laboratory analysis to determine the status of soil fertility. The results of the analysis showed that the nitrogen content was moderate, while phosphorus and potassium were low. Based on these results, fertilizer recommendations were prepared to achieve the target harvest of 6 tons/ha, using a combination of urea, SP-36, and KCl fertilizers, and supported by organic fertilizers. In addition, counseling was carried out to farmer groups regarding soil test results and the importance of balanced fertilization. The results of the questionnaire showed that most farmers had only used Phonska compound fertilizer without knowing its content and suitability to plant needs. Through this activity, farmers gained a better understanding of the concept of fertilization based on nutrient needs and expressed their readiness to try more appropriate fertilization practices. This activity is expected to increase efficiency of fertilization and agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This community engagement program revitalizes agricultural infrastructure in Jatimulyo Village, Yogyakarta, through the construction of a new fertilizer storage facility. The main issue was the severe degradation of the previous building caused by decay and termite infestation. Its location on a steep slope further obstructed logistics and access, disrupting fertilizer storage and negatively affecting agricultural productivity. The solution was carried out through collaboration among the Bakti Anubawa Community Engagement Program Committee of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University (UAJY), KWT Amanah, the village government, and the local community. The program followed systematic stages: field observation, outreach focused on planning and construction standards for sloped terrain, and physical implementation. A key improvement was replacing the deteriorated wooden structure with reinforced concrete for better durability and slope stability. Technical specifications included 300×300 mm river stone foundations, 4D8 main reinforcement with D6-200 stirrups for beams and columns, a 10 cm floor slab, and a ventilated galvalum roof for proper air circulation. Program outputs include detailed working drawings, a transparent budget plan (RAB), and a functional fertilizer storage building that supports efficient logistics, protects fertilizer quality, and improves agricultural productivity and community welfare. This project reflects sustainable implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Abstract

The gravity capsule served as the main object of focus in a community service activity aimed at introducing science to children in the Cibogo Bandung shelter, specifically targeting first and second-grade elementary school students. The service learning method was employed to ensure the learning process remained simple and accessible, considering the young age of the participants. A basic experiment using the gravity capsule was conducted to introduce fundamental science concepts such as gravity, energy, and momentum. The outcome of this community service activity was considered successful, with a comprehension rate of 78.5%, based on responses to questions covering the materials delivered. However, improvements are still needed to enhance content retention among participants. Additionally, requests from the partner community for the program to be conducted regularly form the foundation for the sustainability of this initiative.
