Abstract

This research explores the historical evolution of Afghanistan's borders and their geopolitical impacts. The main goal of the study is to analyze how changes in Afghanistan's borders have influenced its security, economy, international relations, and domestic politics, as well as its role in regional and global power dynamics. The research uses a systematic review of historical sources, geopolitical analyses, and both qualitative and quantitative data. The sources include historical treaties, diplomatic documents, reports from international organizations, and academic studies published. The findings reveal that Afghanistan's borders have undergone significant changes throughout history, largely influenced by colonial powers and regional rivalries. These border changes have had profound effects on Afghanistan's national and regional security, contributing to issues such as drug trafficking, terrorism, and illegal migration. Additionally, Afghanistan's economy has been heavily impacted by unstable borders and political tensions with neighboring countries. The creation of artificial borders, such as the Durand Line, has also led to ethnic and identity challenges within the country. Due to its strategic location, Afghanistan plays a crucial role in regional and global power dynamics. The country's borders have not only shaped its internal structure but have also had significant implications for international relations and regional security. To stabilize its borders and enhance overall stability, Afghanistan must engage in active diplomacy, foster regional economic cooperation, and implement effective border management strategies. These measures can help strengthen Afghanistan's position in regional and global power dynamics, contributing to long-term peace and development.

Abstract

This research aims to enhance critical thinking skills using the Lesson research-based project-based learning (PjBL) model in improving the critical thinking skills of grade VII students in social studies subjects at SMP Negeri 4 Ciawigebang. The theory supports this research. According to Trianto, which states that "the purpose of this PjBL method has the following objectives: 1) to provide broad insight into students when facing problems directly; 2) developing critical thinking skills and expertise in dealing with problems that are received directly". The problem addressed in this research is the low critical thinking ability of students, characterized by their dependence on reading books and a lack of initiative in solving problems independently. The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. This research involved two groups of students: the experimental group, which received project-based learning (PjBL) based on Lesson research, and the control group, which used the lecture method. The analysis results showed a significant difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental and control groups. Thus, the research-based Lesson Project-based Learning (PjBL) learning model can be an effective alternative for developing students' critical thinking skills in secondary school.

Abstract

At this time, human life is entering a new era: the era of digital industrialization. As a result, various human needs have become increasingly reliant on internet support and the digital world as a vehicle for interaction and transactions. This study aims to analyze the application of the Arena Belajar Mandiri (ABM) learning model in improving students' comprehension skills of the Introduction to Norms in Daily Life material at SMA Negeri 1 Purwadadi. The research method employed a qualitative research approach, specifically a type of classroom action research (PTK). The research subjects consisted of 36 students from class X-3. Data collection techniques using tests and observations. The data analysis technique involved comparing the class average value of the test results from each cycle with classical completeness using a predetermined formula. The results showed that students' understanding of the material of the introduction of norms in everyday life could increase after applying the ABM learning model in cycle I and cycle II. This is indicated by an increase in classical completeness from 22.22% in the initial data to 52.78% in cycle I, and then to 80.56% in cycle II. Thus, this research concludes that the application of the Arena Belajar Mandiri (ABM) model can improve students' comprehension skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of guided inquiry learning within the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) context on students' inquiry and critical thinking skills in acid-base chemistry learning. With increasing emphasis on 21st-century competencies, inquiry-based and critical thinking skills have become essential in science education. This research aims to compare the effectiveness of the guided inquiry model in the SSI context with the conventional scientific learning model in fostering these skills. A quasi-experimental design involved two student groups exposed to different instructional approaches on the same acid-base material. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics to determine differences in skill development. The findings reveal significant differences in inquiry skills between students taught using the guided inquiry model in the SSI context and those using the scientific learning model. However, the two groups observed no significant differences in critical thinking skills. The effective contribution of both inquiry and critical thinking skills combined was 0.275. Specifically, inquiry skills showed a medium-level effective contribution (0.239), while critical thinking skills demonstrated a low contribution (0.036). These results suggest that while guided inquiry in the SSI context can enhance inquiry ability, its influence on critical thinking may require further pedagogical support. The study highlights the importance of integrating socio-scientific contexts to improve inquiry competence and recommends refining instructional strategies to better support critical thinking development in science classrooms.

Abstract

TikTok, as a short-video social media platform, has emerged as a central interactive space for teenagers to understand and shape their opinions on social issues. This study aims to explore how TikTok content influences adolescent perspectives on topics such as mental health, climate change, gender equality, and bullying. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of content creators who consistently address social topics. The findings reveal that teenagers undergo a five-stage interaction process: discovering content, watching, engaging, seeking more information, and forming personal opinions. TikTok facilitates active teen involvement in social discourse through emotionally driven and narrative-based content. The study suggests that educators, policymakers, and social organizations can effectively utilize TikTok as an educational medium, although limitations exist regarding the geographic scope and duration of the research.

Abstract

This study compares the civic education systems in Hong Kong and Indonesia, analyzing their historical development, curriculum structures, and educational goals. The research employs a literature review approach, utilizing secondary sources such as academic books, peer-reviewed journals, and policy documents to compare the educational frameworks of both regions. The findings reveal that Hong Kong’s civic education has evolved within the context of its transition from British colonial rule to becoming a Special Administrative Region of China, with a focus on fostering national identity and legal compliance under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework. In contrast, Indonesia’s civic education has developed in response to its independence, emphasizing Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and democratic values. The study identifies key differences in curriculum content, evaluation systems, and learning objectives, showing how each country’s civic education reflects its socio-political environment. The research underscores the importance of contextualizing civic education in the formation of responsible citizens who are equipped to address global challenges. This comparative study offers valuable insights for enhancing civic education curricula in both countries and globally.

Abstract

This study addresses the gap between education systems and labor market demands by developing a validated unit of competency titled “Research and Develop Occupational Standards.” Using a Research and Development (R&D) methodology alongside the Regional Model Competency Standards (RMCS), the study generated three main outcomes: a validated competency unit, a replicable model integrating job classifications, occupational standards, curriculum, and certification, and five policy recommendations for integrating these standards into National Qualification Frameworks (NQFs). The research emphasizes the need to transition from experience-based recruitment to skills-based hiring, addressing the global challenge where only 34% of employers apply competency-focused practices (World Economic Forum, 2023). The study’s findings also contribute to aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs, thereby enhancing employability and ensuring that qualifications remain relevant amidst the digital transformation and the growing demand for sustainability-related skills. The study’s implications are far-reaching, providing a framework for policymakers, education providers, and industry stakeholders to improve workforce competency and support lifelong learning. Future research should explore digital tools, such as AI and blockchain, to enhance the scalability and real-time responsiveness of labor market skills and qualifications.

Abstract

South Kalimantan Province, a key contributor to Indonesia’s economy, faces disparities in economic growth driven by uneven human development, poverty, and labor dynamics. Despite abundant natural resources, regional inequalities persist, necessitating evidence-based policy interventions. This study analyzes (1) the partial and simultaneous effects of HDI, poverty rate, and TPAK on economic growth; (2) identifies the most influential variable; and (3) provides actionable recommendations for equitable development. Using panel data regression (2019–2023) and EViews 13, the study applies CEM, FEM, and REM models, validated by Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests. Classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation) ensure robustness. HDI and TPAK significantly boost economic growth, while poverty’s impact is statistically insignificant. HDI emerges as the dominant driver, underscoring the role of education, health, and income. Policymakers should prioritize HDI-enhancing investments (education, healthcare) and targeted poverty programs, particularly in high-disparity districts. Future research should expand variables (e.g., infrastructure) and timeframes for deeper insights.
