Abstract

This study aims to analyze and comprehensively describe the representation of women in Sihir Perempuan, a collection of short stories by Intan Paramaditha, using the framework of feminist literary criticism. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis as the primary analytical technique. The main data consisted of narrative texts, dialogues, and characters’ inner monologues found in ten selected short stories from the anthology. Data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques, while theoretical triangulation was applied to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that the representation of women in the anthology is structurally categorized into three major dimensions. First, the physical dimension highlights bodily exploitation, clothing as a marker of social status, and the deconstruction of patriarchal beauty standards. Second, the psychological dimension portrays inner anxiety, existential trauma, obsession, and neurotic fear resulting from both domestic and public pressures. Third, the social dimension demonstrates the complexity of women's roles as subordinates within family institutions, secretaries subjected to workplace harassment, and victims of social marginalization due to mystical stigmas and collective rumors. Through the use of Gothic horror aesthetics and the deconstruction of conventional fairy tales, Intan Paramaditha not only depicts women's oppression but also articulates female agency, resistance, and radical forms of rebellion aimed at challenging and dismantling patriarchal social structures.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed conventional text-based poetry into a form of digital literature that integrates textual, auditory, and visual elements. This study aims to describe the physical and inner structures of poetry from a multimodal perspective on the Fiksionalisme YouTube channel. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using a structuralist approach to poetry. The data consisted of words, phrases, lines, and multimodal elements, including audio and visual components, collected through observation, note-taking, and screenshot documentation techniques. The findings reveal that the physical structure of the poems is characterized by the use of connotative and metaphorical diction, dominant figurative language (metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and simile), natural free rhyme, and dynamic digital typography. The inner structure predominantly reflects themes of love, longing, admiration, and inner conflict, accompanied by romantic-melancholic tones and reflective atmospheres. From a multimodal perspective, vocal intonation, background music, and visual imagery function as integral meaning-making resources that reinforce emotional expression and audience engagement. These findings demonstrate that poetry presented on the Fiksionalisme YouTube channel represents a contemporary form of digital literature in which linguistic and multimodal elements interact synergistically to enrich literary aesthetics and appreciation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the protagonist, antagonist, and tritagonist characters in Pulang by Leila S. Chudori based on physiological, psychological, and sociological aspects through a structural approach. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method using a structural approach. The data consisted of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, and narrative passages depicting character traits in the novel. Data were collected through library research and note-taking techniques and analyzed through identification, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Dimas Suryo, as the protagonist, represents longing, identity loss, and the struggles of political exile; Hananto Prawiro, as the antagonist, represents power, domination, and the influence of political authority on social life; while Lintang Utara, as the tritagonist, represents historical awareness and intergenerational reconciliation. These characterizations are constructed through the integration of physiological, psychological, and sociological dimensions that contribute to the overall narrative structure. The study demonstrates that a structural approach effectively reveals the relationship between characterization and other intrinsic elements of the novel while enriching characterization studies in Indonesian literary scholarship.

Abstract

This study examines the interpersonal communication strategies employed by guidance and counseling teachers in handling students’ problems at MAS Miftahul Falah Diski. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving guidance and counseling teachers, school administrators, and students. The findings reveal that student problems range from moderate issues, such as truancy, classroom misconduct, and peer conflicts, to more serious cases, including pregnancy outside marriage. To address these problems, guidance and counseling teachers implement interpersonal communication through face-to-face interactions, empathetic listening, counseling sessions, and mediation between students and parents. These strategies help students express their concerns openly and facilitate problem resolution. However, several obstacles were identified, including students’ reluctance to disclose personal issues, emotional conditions during counseling sessions, and differences in perspectives between teachers and parents. The study highlights the importance of interpersonal communication as an effective approach in guidance and counseling services to support students’ personal and social development.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication often fails not merely because of message ambiguity, but because of psychological barriers within communicators. This study aims to examine interpersonal communication as a systemic psychological process involving four interdependent elements: interpersonal perception, self-concept, interpersonal attraction, and relationship quality. Using a qualitative literature review, the study applies content analysis and theoretical synthesis to selected scholarly works published between 2020 and 2025. The findings show that interpersonal communication operates cyclically: perception shapes self-concept, self-concept influences attraction, attraction determines interaction intensity, and these processes affect relationship quality. Disruption in one element, such as biased perception or negative self-concept, can weaken the entire relational system. This study contributes a holistic conceptual framework that explains interpersonal communication beyond message clarity by emphasizing the role of psychological integration in building effective, supportive, and adaptive interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

This paper proposes a functional syllabus with an eco-theological focus to integrate language learning with environmental advocacy in Islamic contexts. Grounded in Islamic principles such as khalīfah (stewardship) and amānah (trust), the study aims to show how communicative language functions like expressing concern, persuading, and proposing solutions can foster both linguistic competence and ecological awareness. The paper outlines theoretical foundations and practical applications of embedding Islamic environmental ethics into language teaching, suggesting that this approach promotes meaningful, value-based communication and strengthens learners’ moral responsibility toward the environment

Abstract

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced Arabic language education, particularly in the learning of nahwu (syntax) and shorof (morphology). This study aims to critically examine the pedagogical benefits and linguistic limitations of generative AI in Arabic grammar learning through a narrative literature review approach. The study analyzes recent scholarly works on AI-assisted Arabic language instruction and grammatical analysis. The findings reveal that generative AI supports independent learning, provides immediate feedback, and increases learner engagement. However, persistent limitations remain in handling complex syntactic structures, contextual ambiguity, and accurate grammatical interpretation. The review also highlights concerns regarding learners’ overreliance on AI and the continuing need for teacher supervision. The study concludes that generative AI should function as a supportive instructional tool rather than a fully autonomous learning authority in Arabic grammar education.

Abstract

This study maps research on livelihood shifts and their environmental implications through a secondary bibliometric analysis of metadata processed with Bibliometrix/R Studio. The analysis covers 139 documents published between 1981 and 2026 from 124 publication sources and examines publication growth, document types, productive sources and affiliations, influential documents, three-field relations, and keyword co-occurrence. The findings show that the literature is organized around the intersection of economic impact, development, poverty, employment, mining, land use, climate change, and sustainable development. The study contributes conceptually by positioning livelihood shifts as a socio-ecological transition that links changes in work and income with environmental pressures and adaptive development pathways. Because the analysis uses a processed bibliometric output, the study also clarifies the limits of data verification and applies consistency checks across bibliometric indicators, tables, and visual maps to strengthen interpretive reliability.

Abstract

Teacher certification is a government initiative aimed at improving professionalism and the quality of education; however, its impact in educational practice still requires continuous evaluation. This study aims to analyze the impact of teacher certification on the quality of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at MAN Sidoarjo, particularly in terms of instructional method innovation and the use of learning media. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews involving IRE teachers, students, and school administrators. The findings reveal that teachers who obtained certification in 2025 experienced significant transformation in the learning process, marked by a shift from lecture-based methods to project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches. In addition, there was strong integration of digital technology through the use of AI-based media, microsites, and Quizizz to enhance classroom interaction. Nevertheless, learning effectiveness still faced several challenges, including the heterogeneity of students’ educational backgrounds and limited instructional time during afternoon classes. The study concludes that teacher certification has proven effective in improving the pedagogical competence and digital literacy of PAI teachers, which directly contributes to students’ understanding and learning enthusiasm at MAN Sidoarjo.

Abstract

Character education is a central component of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly through strengthening the Profile of Faith, Piety to God Almighty, and Noble Character. However, its implementation often emphasizes practical programs without sufficient theological grounding. This study analyzes the relevance of QS. Adz-Dzariyat: 56 and the Prophet’s hadith on the perfection of morals (Musnad Ahmad) to strengthening this profile in the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a library research method with normative-theological and pedagogical approaches, data were analyzed through content analysis of the Qur’an, hadith, classical and contemporary tafsir, curriculum documents, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that QS. Adz-Dzariyat: 56 establishes worship as the fundamental purpose of human existence, while the hadith positions noble character as the primary outcome of Islamic education. These values are consistent with the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on faith, piety, and moral character, providing a theological foundation for strengthening character education through contextual and value-oriented learning.
