Jurnal Educative: Journal of Educational Studies presents research and development in the field of education, with special reference to curriculum and learning, management, technology, sociology, anthropology, psychology, language, and Islamic education. The journal invites articles that have never been published elsewhere. Please see Author Guidelines for information regarding the process of publication in the journal. The language used in this journal are Indonesian and English. The review process in this journal employs a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

Abstract

Almost every aspect of human life on earth has been disrupted since the emergence of Covid-19, particularly education. Many countries have decided to close schools and universities. This condition has forced the Indonesian government through its Ministry of Education to implement policies that move conventional classrooms to online classrooms. This process is carried out to maintain the health of students. The learning process has been aided by the use one of applications available on the internet called Student Response System (SRS). This study investigates secondary school students’ perceptions towards the implementation of Quizizz as an assessment platform in teaching English. Mixed-method research has been implemented in this study. The study involved 61 students as the participants in the quantitative stage and six students in the qualitative stage. The main instruments employed in this research are an online questionnaire and in-depth interview. The findings indicated that the students have both positive and negative perceptions toward the use of online assessment, especially Quizizz. The students enjoyed Quizizz and thought it was exciting, interesting, motivating, and enjoyable because it was distinct from other platforms. Quizizz had an interactive display, which made it simple for students to use. However, in addition to the positive perception of Quizizz as an assessment platform in English teaching, some students expressed a negative perception of Quizizz as an assessment tool. According to the data, one of the platform’s negative perceptions was the presence of music.Hampir setiap aspek kehidupan manusia di muka bumi ini terganggu sejak munculnya Covid-19, khususnya pendidikan. Banyak negara telah memutuskan untuk menutup sekolah dan universitas. Kondisi ini memaksa pemerintah Indonesia melalui Kementerian Pendidikan untuk menerapkan kebijakan pemindahan ruang kelas konvensional menjadi ruang kelas daring. Proses ini dilakukan untuk menjaga kesehatan siswa agar terhindar dari Covid-19. Proses pembelajaran dapat dibantu dengan menggunakan salah satu aplikasi di internet yang bernama Student Response System (SRS). Menurut pernyataan tersebut, peneliti menyelidiki persepsi siswa sekolah menengah terhadap penerapan Quizizz sebagai platform penilaian dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Penelitian metode campuran telah diterapkan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini melibatkan 61 siswa sebagai partisipan pada tahap kuantitatif dan 6 siswa pada tahap kualitatif. Instrumen utama yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner online dan wawancara mendalam. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi positif dan negatif terhadap penggunaan penilaian online, terutama di Quizizz. Para siswa menikmati Quizizz dan menganggapnya menyenangkan, menarik, memotivasi, dan menyenangkan karena platform Quizizz berbeda dari yang lain. Quizizz memiliki tampilan interaktif, yang memudahkan siswa dalam menggunakan platform. Namun, selain persepsi positif tentang Quizizz sebagai platform penilaian dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris, beberapa siswa menyatakan persepsi negatif tentang Quizizz sebagai penilaian. Menurut data, salah satu persepsi negatif platform adalah kehadiran musik.

Abstract

This study uses a STEAM approach to learning outcomes of biological innovation, using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only design with a nonequivalent group design. The population in this study are fourth-semester students of Biology Tadris UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, class IVA, IVB, IVC, and VI D, totaling 36 people. Samples were taken using class IVA and IV D with the purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study was in the form of five essay test questions. Data analysis used t-test and correlation test (phi (Φ)). Analysis of t-test data from the calculation results shows that the use of the STEAM approach is proven to be better than online lectures without using the STEAM approach. The results of the study were continued with a correlation test (phi test (Φ)), from the results of the calculations, it was concluded that the STEAM approach had a significant effect on the learning outcomes of students’ cognitive domains in the biology learning innovation course.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan STEAM terhadap hasil belajar inovasi biologi, menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain posttest only dengan nonequivalent group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester IV Biologi Tadris UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi kelas IVA, IVB, IVC, dan VI D yang berjumlah 36 orang. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VIA dan IV D diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa 5 soal tes essay. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t dan uji korelasi (phi (Φ)). Analisis data uji t Dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan STEAM terbukti lebih baik daripada perkuliahahan online tanpa menggunakan pendekatan STEAM. Hasil penelitian dilanjutkan dengan uji korelasi (uji phi (Φ)), dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pendekatan STEAM berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar ranah kognitif mahasiswa pada mata kuliah inovasi pembelajaran biologi.

Abstract

The achievement of learning performance can create benefits for a company both in increasing employee competence and company productivity. The cost spent, however, is usually not proportional to the graduation rate and returns on the company. Self-efficacy is a performance predictor. Individual characteristics have a strong role in the effectiveness of learning. This research aims to test the role of individual characteristics in  leadership learning performance with self-efficacy as a mediator variable. The data in this study are secondary data owned by PT X. This data were processed by parallel mediation analysis model using Macro PROCESS and SPSS software. The results showed that self-efficacy is able to mediate the role of individual characteristics in leadership learning performance. This research found that self-efficacy and continuous learning ability were able to partially mediate the role of individual characteristics in leadership learning performance. Thus, by adding indirect effect of mediator variable, it can further enhance the role of individual characteristics in leadership learning performance.Tercapainya kinerja pembelajaran dapat memberikan manfaat bagi perusahaan baik dalam peningkatan kompetensi karyawan maupun produktivitas perusahaan. Biaya yang dikeluarkan, bagaimanapun, biasanya tidak sebanding dengan tingkat kelulusan dan pengembalian perusahaan. Self-efficacy adalah prediktor kinerja. Karakteristik individu memiliki peran yang kuat dalam efektivitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran karakteristik individu dalam kinerja pembelajaran kepemimpinan dengan efikasi diri sebagai variabel mediator. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder milik PT X. Data ini diolah dengan model analisis mediasi paralel menggunakan software Macro PROCESS dan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efikasi diri mampu memediasi peran karakteristik individu dalam kinerja pembelajaran kepemimpinan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa efikasi diri dan kemampuan belajar berkelanjutan secara parsial mampu memediasi peran karakteristik individu dalam kinerja pembelajaran kepemimpinan. Dengan demikian, dengan menambahkan pengaruh tidak langsung dari variabel mediator dapat lebih meningkatkan peran karakteristik individu dalam kinerja pembelajaran kepemimpinan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine Tajdid K.H. Ahmad Dahlan’s concept of Islamic education and its relevance during the Covid-19 pandemic. The advancement of science and technology in the modern era, as well as the the emergence of research on the relevance of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan in the development of educational learning in Indonesia, is relevant in the discourse of Islamic education (tajdid). Research data are taken from library references in the form of published research, both manually and digitally, that focus on discussing K.H. Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts in Islamic education. The study’s findings demonstrate that K.H. Ahmad Dahlan’s concept of tajdid is in line with the advancement of Islamic education.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis konsep pemikiran Tajdid K.H. Ahmad Dahlan terhadap pendidikan Islam dan relevansinya di masa pandemi Covid-19. Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi diera modern ini, sejalan dengan munculnya penelitian tentang relevansi pemikiran K.H. Ahmad Dahlan dalam pengembangan pembelajaran pendidikan di Indonesia, dalam perspektif ilmu pendidikan Islam disebut dengan pembaharuan (Tajdid). Data penelitian ini bersumber dari referensi kepustakaan berupa jurnal ilmiah maupun penelusuran terhadap referensi-referensi karya penelitian, baik secara manual maupun digital yang fokus membahas pemikiran K.H. Ahmad Dahlan dalam pendidikan Agama Islam. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa konsep Tajdid K.H. Ahmad Dahlan sesuai dengan pembaharuan dengan peningkatan pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal students' perceptions of Native English-Speaking Teachers (NEST) and Non-Native English-Speaking Teachers (NNEST). The study involved students from the Agriculture Faculty of the Riau State Islamic University. This is a quantitative research that employs a survey design. The examination of the data reveals that students had a good assessment of teachers who were either native or non-native speakers. On the other hand, students encountered difficulties when learning with native and non-native professors. Students believe that NEST and NNEST will be more effective if native speakers also study and understand their original language and culture. Instructors who are not natural English speakers should pursue additional education in countries where English is the primary language to hone their abilities. The ideal non-native teachers are those who have reached a level of English proficiency comparable to that of a native speaker. Assuming the talents of the non-native English instructor are optimal, the majority of students believe that as long as instructors display a high level of competence and professionalism, there should be no discrimination between native speakers and non-native English teachers. However, when properly prepared and competent, both native and non-native English teachers can increase the enthusiasm for the student's English skill development. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and they should collaborate to aid students in becoming successful English learners.

Abstract

Since 2015, education has become an important part of social pillars supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The fourth goal of SDGs, quality education, emphasizes inclusive, equitable, and lifelong education. The Indonesian government has prioritized region-based sustainable development in its 2020-2024 Medium-Term National Development Plan (RPJMN). It has also emphasized the achievement of secondary and higher education levels in Human Resource (HR) development targets. This achievement can be realized if there is equal distribution of educational participation, starting from the primary to the tertiary level. This quantitative study aims to analyze and elaborate spatiotemporal insights at every level of education regarding the development of educational participation in Indonesia during the period of 2015 to 2021. Results have shown that there was a significant spatiotemporal development in the achievement of inter-level educational participation during this period. The implementation of regional-based education development needs to be optimized to achieve an inclusive distribution of educational participation among provinces.Sejak 2015, pendidikan menjadi salah satu bagian penting dalam pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs) pilar sosial. Tujuan ke-4 SDGs yaitu pendidikan berkualitas, penitikberatan pada pendidikan inklusif, merata, dan sepanjang hayat. Pemerintah Indonesia menekankan pembangunan berkelanjutan berbasis wilayah pada RPJMN 2020-2024. Pemerintah juga menekankan capaian jenjang pendidikan menengah ke atas pada highlight sasaran pembangunan SDM. Capaian tersebut dapat terwujud apabila terdapat pemerataan partisipasi pendidikan secara terstruktur dan berkesinambungan, mulai dari jenjang pendidikan SD hingga Perguruan Tinggi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan mengelaborasi insight secara spasiotemporal pada setiap jenjang pendidikan mengenai perkembangan capaian pembangunan dan pemerataan partisipasi pendidikan di Indonesia pada periode 2015 hingga 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perkembangan signifikan pada pola capaian partisipasi pendidikan antarjenjang dari periode 2015 hingga 2021. Pengimplementasian pembangunan pendidikan berbasis wilayah perlu dioptimalkan untuk mewujudkan pemerataan karakteristik partisipasi pendidikan antarprovinsi

Abstract

The research was motivated by the need for career adaptability development for UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten students to be able to anticipate problems such as discovering the desired field of work and the difficult task of job searching. Microblogs make it easier for students to find and utilize career information online and increase awareness of career opportunities and challenges. This study examines the effectiveness of microblogs in improving students' career adaptability. The method used is quasi-experimental. The research population is UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten students who are followers of the Instagram handle @unitkarir_uinsmhbanten, totaling 549 people. The sample used is 15% of the total population, 82 people, who were selected randomly. Research data on career adaptability was obtained using the career adaptability scale, which refers to the construct of Mark L. Savickas. The results showed that microblogs were proven to significantly improve students' career adaptability, based on tstat (35,039) > ttable (1.66365), and sig = 0.000 < 0.05. The average change in career adaptability (N-Gain) obtained is 62%. The aspect of career adaptability that increased the most after students joined the microblog was career control, followed by career curiosity and career concernPenelitian dilatar belakangi oleh adanya tuntutan pengembangan career adaptability pada mahasiswa UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, agar mampu mengantisipasi masalah seperti kekhawatiran tidak mendapatkan pekerjaan dan kurangnya pemahaman tentang bidang pekerjaan yang diinginkan. Microblog lebih memudahkan mahasiswa untuk menemukan dan memanfaatkan informasi karier secara online, dan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran terhadap peluang dan tantangan karir. Penelitian bertujuan menguji efektivitas microblog dalam meningkatkan career adaptability mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-eksperimental. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten yang menjadi pengikut (followers) Instagram @unitkarir_uinsmhbanten yang berjumlah 549 orang. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 15% jumlah populasi yaitu 82 Orang dan dipilih secara random.  Data penelitian mengenai career adaptability diperoleh menggunakan skala career adaptability yang mengacu kepada konstruk dari Mark L.Savickas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Microblog terbukti secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan career adaptability mahasiswa, berdasarkan perbandingan antara thitung dengan ttabel yaitu, thitung (35.039) > ttabel (1.66365), serta nilai sig = 0.000 < 0.05. Rata rata perubahan career adaptability (N-Gain) yang diperloeh adalah 62%. Aspek career adaptability  yang paling meningkat setelah mahasiswa mengikuti microblog adalah career control, selanjutnya diikuti oleh aspek career curiosity, dan career concern.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the learning experiences of the Indonesian rural students during the Covid-19 pandemic which had transitioned to online learning and solutions. A phenomenological approach was used as a research methodology using semi-structured interviews for the data collection. This study was conducted in one Islamic higher education with seven participants. The data were analyzed through thematic analysis by comparing each participant's interview result in the form of research themes. The five themes that emerged in this study are: adapting to online learning, internet access, learning environment, and learning autonomy. The findings of the study indicate that online learning is a problem for the participants who live in rural areas. These problems were caused by unfamiliarity with the online learning method, unstable internet connection, lack of parents’ support, and learning autonomy. However, all challenges can be solved by students. The findings of the study have implications for government and higher education stakeholders to provide enough facilities for online learning for rural students to participate in the learning process smoothlyPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman belajar siswa daerah terpencil Indonesia selama Covid-19 yang berfokus pada tantangan dan solusi pembelajaran online dari siswa. Pendekatan fenomenologi digunakan sebagai metodologi penelitian dengan menggunakan wawancara semi terstruktur untuk pengumpulan data. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Islam dengan jumlah peserta tujuh orang. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik dengan membandingkan hasil wawancara masing-masing partisipan dalam bentuk tema penelitian. Lima tema yang muncul dalam penelitian ini adalah adaptasi pembelajaran online, akses internet, lingkungan belajar, dan kemandirian belajar. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran online merupakan masalah bagi peserta yang tinggal di daerah terpencil. Permasalahan tersebut disebabkan oleh ketidaktahuan terhadap metode pembelajaran online, koneksi internet yang tidak stabil, kurangnya dukungan orang tua, dan kemandirian belajar. Namun, semua tantangan dapat diselesaikan oleh siswa. Temuan penelitian ini berimplikasi kepada pemerintah dan pemangku kepentingan pendidikan tinggi untuk menyediakan fasilitas pembelajaran online yang cukup bagi siswa daerah terpencil untuk berpartisipasi dalam proses pembelajaran dengan lancar.

Abstract

This research discusses the practice of mindful eating of female students at State Universities in Malang and whether it affects their mental health. This paper aims understand the relationship between mindful eating and mental health. The sample is taken from students of five state universities in the city of Malang. The methodology in this study is quantitative in terms of numerical data analysis and statistical processing, which is assisted by data collection techniques such as analytical surveys as a way of collecting data on a large enough population. Seventy-one percent (128 respondents) of the acquired data came from open and closed questionnaires. Many students did not understand the concept of mindful eating and its application. The choice of food type was determined based on the feelings or emotions. In addition, weak mindful eating was also found to be more common in respondents who did multitasking eating. The results of the study prove that few female students actually practice mindful eating process well. This shows that there is a lack of attention to mental health.Diskursus penelitian ini mengacu pada mindful eating mahasiswi di Perguruan Tinggi Negeri kota Malang yang berpengaruh pada kesehatan mental mereka. Tujuan dari tulisan ini tidak lain untuk memperoleh hasil reseacrh hubungan dari mindful eating dengan kesehatan mental, yang diambil dari sampel mahasiswi Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN) Malang. Kemudian terkait metodologi pada penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif pada ranah analisis data angka dan diolah secara statistik, yang dibantu dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui survei analitik untuk mengumpulkan data pada populasi yang cukup besar. Data penelitian ini menemukan sebanyak 71% (128 responden) dari data kuesioner terbuka dan tertutup, bahwa para mahasiswinya banyak yang belum memahami konsep mindful eating beserta penerapannya, dimana pemilihan jenis pangan ditentukan berdasarkan perasaan atau emosi yang sedang dirasakan. Selain itu, lemahnya mindful eating juga ditemukan lebih banyak pada responden yang melakukan aktivitas makan secara multitasking (bersamaan dengan aktivitas lain). Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa sedikit mahasiswi yang benar-benar melakukan proses mindful eating dengan baik, dan hal ini membuktikan adanya ketidak sadaran dan kurangnya perhatian terhadap kesehan mental.

Abstract

Educational practitioners are paying more attention to the practise of distance learning, nowadays. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic prompted changes to child-friendly school policies that involved parental participation in distance learning environments. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine, using nine sub-components, how parents at Tlacap Elementary School participated in promoting Child-Friendly School (CFS) implementation during the pandemic Covid-19 timeframe. The subjects are the headmaster, program coordinator, teacher of 3rd and 5th grade, and parents of 3rd and 5th grade. It used a google form and Focus Group Discussion by google meet in the data collecting process. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, display, and generalization and verified by Miles and Huberman. Internal validation undertakes by more careful observation, member check, and use of documentation tools. The parents' participation in supporting CFS implementation during the Covid-19 pandemic at Tlacap primary school has achieved six of the nine sub-components of participation well. School programs must consider the proper duration and frequency for all parents’ backgrounds. This research results can be a consideration in developing a school-home collaboration model in primary-level distance learning in the future.  Praktik pendidikan jarak jauh dewasa ini semakin banyak dikaji oleh praktisi pendidikan. Terlebih, pada masa pandemi Covid-19 yang mendorong terjadinya penyesuaian praktik sekolah ramah anak yang melibatkan partisipasi orang tua dalam setting pendidikan jarak jauh. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan menganalisis partisipasi orang tua siswa dalam mendukung penerapan Sekolah Ramah Anak (SRA) pada masa pandemi di SDN Tlacap berdasarkan sembilan sub-komponen SRA. Informan terdiri dari kepala sekolah, koordinator program SRA, guru kelas 3 dan 5, serta perwakilan orang tua siswa kelas 3 dan 5 yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner google form dan FGD daring melalui google meet. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, display data, penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan validitas internal melalui pengamatan lebih cermat, member check, dan penggunaan alat bantu dokumentasi. Partisipasi orang tua dalam mendukung penerapan SRA pada masa pandemi Covid-19 di SD Negeri Tlacap telah meraih enam dari sembilan sub-komponen partisipasi dengan baik. Program sekolah harus mempertimbangkan durasi dan frekuensi program parenting yang sesuai dengan berbagai latar belakang orang tua siswa. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan dalam mengembangkan model kolaborasi sekolah-rumah pada praktik sekolah ramah anak melalui pembelajaran jarak jauh di tingkat sekolah dasar di masa mendatang.
