Abstract

Maharah kalam refers to speaking skills in the Arabic language that require clarity, fluency, and accuracy in conveying ideas and feelings orally. This skill is considered one of the primary goals of language learning because through speaking, individuals are able to interact, engage in dialogue, and express themselves communicatively in daily life. The communicative approach is a language teaching method that emphasizes students’ ability to communicate effectively and contextually rather than merely mastering grammatical structures. This training program aimed to strengthen the Arabic maharah kalam (speaking skills) of tenth-grade students at Buranakarn Suksa Witya School, Pattani, Thailand, through a communicative approach. The main problems faced by the students were: a) limited active vocabulary, b) lack of confidence in speaking, and c) learning activities that still focused on memorizing vocabulary without communicative context. The objectives of this community service program were: 1) to implement maharah kalam training through a communicative approach for students at Buranakarn Suksa Witya School, Pattani, Thailand; and 2) to improve the Arabic speaking ability of the students. The implementation method used practice-based training, including contextual vocabulary introduction, pronunciation exercises, thematic dialogues, and real-life situation simulations. The results of the activity showed that: 1) the implementation of maharah kalam training for students at Buranakarn Suksa Witya School, Pattani, Thailand was carried out successfully in accordance with the communicative approach; and 2) the training proved effective in increasing students’ active participation, speaking confidence, and ability to construct simple utterances in Arabic.

Abstract

Nutritional issues among school-aged children remain a challenge in Indonesia, including in the Bojongsari Community Health Center work area. Children are at risk of malnutrition or overnutrition due to diets that do not follow balanced nutrition guidelines, such as consuming fast food high in sugar, salt, and fat. This condition can affect children's health, growth, and academic performance. Therefore, effective educational interventions are needed to improve children's understanding of healthy eating habits. This activity aimed to determine the effect of animated educational video media on balanced nutrition knowledge in school-aged children. The intervention was conducted offline at SDN Serua 3, Depok City, involving 30 fifth-grade students. The animated video "Super Gizi Squad" was combined with interactive activities such as recall games, guessing the picture, and pre- and post-tests. The results showed improved knowledge. Before the intervention, 66.7% of students had poor knowledge, 30% sufficient, and 3.3% good. After the intervention, 76.7% had sufficient knowledge and 23.3% good, with no poor category. The average score increased from 60.07 to 80.17, indicating significant improvement. In conclusion, animated educational videos effectively improve children's knowledge of balanced nutrition..

Abstract

Aceh Tamiang Regency, especially Manyak Payed District, is one of the areas affected by the flood disaster that left a deep psychological impact on school-age children, including trauma, anxiety, and loss of motivation to learn. This community service activity aims to implement an integrated Islamic Religious Education (PAI) approach to trauma healing to strengthen Islamic character while supporting the psychosocial recovery of disaster victims at SDN 2 Tualang Cut, Aceh Tamiang. The program is implemented through three systematic stages, namely planning, implementation, and monitoring. The implementation stage includes five integrated activities, namely Islamic storytelling, light dialogue sessions, joint prayers, distribution of ATK packages and nutritious snacks, and creative expression. A total of 120 students in grades I, II, and III were involved in this program which was funded by the PKM Disaster Emergency Response Program of Samudra University. Data was collected through observation and interviews with classroom teachers and principals. The monitoring results showed significant positive changes in students' psychosocial conditions, where children who previously seemed moody and unmotivated became more cheerful, active in learning, and more socially interactive. These findings prove that the integration of PAI and trauma healing provides a holistic and effective approach in post-disaster recovery, touching the spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions of children at the same time, and has the potential to be a model that can be replicated by educational institutions in disaster-prone areas.
