Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the International Community Service Program (KKNI) of Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara in strengthening literacy and character development among Indonesian diaspora children at Sanggar Belajar Gumut, Selangor, Malaysia. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and field documentation methods. The findings indicate that the KKNI program was able to improve children’s ability to read and write the Qur’an, recognize Latin letters and numbers, and foster discipline and responsibility through creative literacy activities, savings simulations, and moral guidance. In addition to cognitive impacts, the program also strengthened the moral values, empathy, and social cooperation of diaspora children. For the participating university students, the KKNI program became a transformative experience that developed empathy, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills. These findings reinforce the concepts of Community-Based Education and Service Learning, showing that community-based and experiential learning can serve as effective means of shaping character and social spirituality. This study recommends establishing a sustainable partnership between Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara and Sanggar Belajar Gumut as a model of international community service grounded in Islamic and humanitarian values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a women empowerment program based on Al-Qur’an 5.0 in strengthening religious literacy at Institut Attarkiyah Islamiah, Narathiwat, Thailand. This community service program was conducted to address the gap between normative religious understanding and its contextual application in a multicultural educational environment. The method used was a participatory approach through workshops, interactive discussions, demonstrations, and guided practice. The results indicate that the program was effective in improving participants’ understanding of Qur’anic values, teaching skills, and active participation in learning. Participants also showed increased confidence in applying Qur’anic teachings in daily life. The integration of digital-based learning and contextual approaches contributed significantly to the effectiveness of the program. This study concludes that the implementation of Al-Qur’an 5.0-based empowerment programs can enhance religious literacy and strengthen the role of women as agents of social and spiritual transformation.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue that must be addressed today. Stunting represents a significant nutritional problem that affects social and economic life both within and across communities. There is clear evidence that stunted individuals have higher mortality rates and greater disease incidence. Contributing factors to stunting include inadequate nutritional intake during pregnancy, which leads to fetal growth restriction, marking the beginning of stunting. Stunting prevention education is essentially an activity or effort to convey messages to communities, groups, or individuals with the expectation that they will gain knowledge that can influence their attitudes and behaviors. The youth of the Al Muhajirin Mosque in Pangkalan Jati, Cinere, Depok, have limited knowledge regarding the dangers of anemia among adolescent girls and its link to stunting. The objective of this community service activity was to educate the youth members of Al Muhajirin Mosque about the dangers of anemia and the importance of iron supplementation to reduce the risk of stunting in children. Our finding that this activity can increase adolescents’ understanding of anemia and stunting, thereby contributing to the reduction of anemia and stunting rates in Pangkalan Jati, Cinere, Depok.

Abstract

Moringa leaves contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The benefits of adding Moringa leaves to chicken porridge as infant formula is that it can enhance the nutritional quality of the porridge, making it a more balanced and complete meal. The protein content from the chicken combined with the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from Moringa leaves creates a good synergy for infant growth.  Adding Moringa leaves to chicken porridge as infant formula is a smart step to enhance the nutritional value of infant food. The benefits of making Moringa leaf chicken porridge are not yet widely known by the public, so its use for daily consumption is still rare. Therefore, we conducted an educational activity on making moringa leaf chicken porridge for PKK mothers and Posyandu cadres in Pangkalan Jati, Cinere, Depok. This community service initiative involved educating PKK cadres about the benefits of adding Moringa leaves to chicken porridge by providing training on how to make chicken porridge with Moringa leaves, so it can be applied by families and the surrounding community to improve public health and serve as complementary food to enhance breast milk production.

Abstract

Kedonganan Village, Badung Regency, Bali, is a coastal area widely recognized as a seafood culinary center and an important component of Bali’s tourism system. However, post-pandemic dynamics have revealed that coastal culinary businesses continue to face several challenges, including low digital literacy, limited technology based marketing capabilities, and increasing destination competition. This community service program aimed to enhance the digital capacity of local culinary entrepreneurs through the optimization of Google Business Profile and the use of social media as an area-based digital marketing strategy. The program was implemented through workshops, training sessions, hands-on mentoring, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests involving 40 participants. The training materials covered the creation and management of digital business profiles, social media content strategies, product photography techniques, and business branding enhancement. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills. In the Google Business Profile training, the average score increased from 54.8 to 84.6. Meanwhile, in the social media training, the average score rose from 58.4 to 82.2. Beyond knowledge improvement, participants also showed better capabilities in managing their digital business identity, increasing business visibility, and building stronger customer engagement through digital platforms. These findings indicate that the integration of Google Business Profile and social media represents an effective strategy for strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of coastal culinary businesses. The program also highlights the importance of community based approaches and institutional collaboration in accelerating the digital transformation of MSMEs within tourism destinations.

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology has intensified the use of digital financial services among Generation Z. However, this trend is not fully accompanied by adequate financial management capabilities, resulting in a gap between technological access and financial literacy. This community service activity aims to enhance digital financial literacy among twelfth-grade students at SMK Assa’adah Bungah Gresik in order to foster rational, adaptive, and long-term financial behavior. The study employs an educational and participatory approach through the delivery of instructional materials, interactive discussions, and experience-sharing activities involving university students as facilitators of contextual learning. The findings indicate that although students demonstrate a high level of familiarity with digital financial services, their understanding remains largely limited to technical aspects and has not fully encompassed conceptual dimensions such as financial planning and the control of consumptive behavior. Post-activity evaluation reveals an improvement in students’ financial understanding and awareness. These results confirm that the educational and participatory approach is effective in bridging the gap between the use of financial technology and financial management capabilities. Overall, this activity contributes to strengthening the financial readiness of vocational high school students as part of Generation Z in facing the challenges of the digital economy and highlights the importance of developing sustainable, contextual, and experience-based digital financial literacy programs.
