Abstract

The digital era has changed the way young people interact with others. Many young people tend to be more individualistic and show less concern for their social environment. This condition has led to lower participation and weakened social capital in rural communities. This community service activity aims to empower young people through nyelonding activities as an instrument to strengthen social capital in the digital era. The program was carried out using a participatory approach, including initial observation, the formation of a Selonding music group, regular training sessions, and continuous assistance. The participants were village youths who were previously less active in social and cultural activities. The results show improvements in discipline, teamwork, responsibility, and self-confidence among the participants. In addition, nyelonding activities helped strengthen social relationships and increased care for the surrounding community. These findings indicate that traditional arts can be an effective medium for youth empowerment and social capital strengthening, while also contributing to the preservation of local culture in the digital era.

Abstract

The development of mosques as centres for sustainable community empowerment is an important issue in the socio-economic development of urban communities. This activity aims to implement and analyse a model for giant prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) farming based on eco-mosques in the Tawang Alun 2 Complex, Kendari City. The approach used is the application of science and technology with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. As a result, it was revealed that the integration of eco-mosque principles with giant river prawn farming allows for the optimisation of limited land, efficient water use, environmentally friendly waste management, and the strengthening of the congregation's economy. The developed model encompasses technical aspects of farming, mosque institutional aspects, congregation participation, and environmental sustainability. This programme has the potential to increase community income, support local food security, and strengthen the role of mosques as centres of worship, education, and community economy. This model is recommended as an alternative for developing productive eco-mosques that can be replicated in other urban areas

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires early childhood education teachers to possess adequate digital literacy competencies to support innovative and meaningful learning. However, the needs assessment conducted in Kedungjati Village, Grobogan Regency, revealed that most preschool teachers had limited skills in utilizing digital technology and producing educational video media independently. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ digital literacy through training and mentoring in developing educational videos based on digital learning principles. The program employed a participatory approach combined with a learning-by-doing method, including needs assessment, training, mentoring, classroom implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants consisted of 50 preschool teachers affiliated with IGTKI and Himpaudi organizations. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests, post-tests, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The results indicated a significant improvement in teachers’ digital literacy competencies, with average scores increasing from 58 to 86, representing a 48.27% improvement. Participants successfully produced four locally contextualized educational videos that were ready for classroom use. The implementation of these videos in learning activities increased children's learning engagement by 21%. Furthermore, questionnaire results showed that 90% of participants perceived the training as highly beneficial, 88% reported increased confidence in using digital technology, and 85% expressed willingness to independently develop educational videos in the future. These findings demonstrate that the program effectively enhanced teachers’ digital competencies and contributed to improving the quality of technology-based early childhood education..

Abstract

The abuse of narcotics, psychotropics, and other addictive substances (NAPZA) is still a serious problem because it causes various negative impacts on social life, health, and the quality of human resources, especially among the younger generation. As a preventive measure, the North Sumatra Provincial Government stipulated Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2019 concerning the Facilitation of the Prevention of Abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Other Addictive Substances. This article aims to examine the role of socialization of regional regulations in increasing the effectiveness of preventing narcotics abuse in the community. The research uses normative legal methods with a legislative approach and a conceptual approach through the study of various legal sources and related literature. The results of the study show that socialization activities contribute significantly to increasing public legal understanding and awareness, strengthening public involvement, and building cooperation between local governments, educational institutions, the media, the business sector, and the community. Therefore, socialization that is carried out continuously is an important factor in supporting the successful implementation of regional regulations and creating an environment free from narcotics abuse.

Abstract

(1) Background: Waste management remains a critical challenge in urban areas, particularly in Pekanbaru, where waste transportation services are often hindered by narrow alleys, densely populated settlements, and steep roads that limit the accessibility of collection vehicles. (2) Purpose of the Study: This community service program aimed to optimize waste transportation through the provision of waste hanging points as temporary waste collection facilities that can be easily accessed by collection officers. (3) Methods: The program applied the Saving Matrix method to determine more efficient collection routes by considering geographical constraints and accessibility barriers. Activities were conducted through three stages, namely site identification and selection, construction of waste hanging facilities, and installation at designated locations. (4) Results: Six waste hanging points were successfully installed in strategic areas that were previously difficult to reach by waste collection vehicles. The facilities improved waste collection efficiency, reduced the need for vehicles to enter high-risk areas, minimized the potential for vehicle damage, and encouraged residents to dispose of waste in designated locations. (5) Conclusions: The provision of waste hanging points proved to be an effective and adaptive solution for overcoming accessibility challenges in waste transportation, improving service effectiveness, and supporting a cleaner and healthier environment. The program also demonstrates potential as a sustainable model for urban waste management in areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Sea turtles are protected marine animals that still face serious threats due to hunting, egg harvesting, illegal trade, coastal pollution, and habitat destruction. Although legal protection has been regulated through various national instruments, the effectiveness of conservation still depends on public understanding and legal awareness. This community service activity aims to strengthen public legal awareness in supporting community based sea turtle conservation in Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation, Gajahrejo Village, Gedangan District, Malang Regency. The method used is a participatory and educational approach through partner coordination, field observation, directed interviews, focus group discussions, regulatory review, legal socialization, preparation of information media, and the release of baby turtles as an educational experience. The results of the activity showed that some residents and beach visitors did not fully understand the status of sea turtles as protected animals, the forms of prohibited actions, and the legal consequences of violations against turtles and their habitat. Legal socialization and direct involvement in the release of baby turtles were able to strengthen participants' understanding of the importance of protecting turtles not only as a legal obligation, but also as an ecological responsibility. This activity concluded that turtle conservation needs to be supported by ongoing legal education, easy-to-understand information media, clear reporting mechanisms, and collaboration between conservation managers, the government, related institutions, and the community.

Abstract

Bone fractures are one of the injuries that often occur due to accidents or excessive physical activity. Fracture examination is generally performed using radiographic imaging (X-Ray), but visual identification of bone fractures can sometimes be difficult, especially in low-quality images. This study aims to analyze the texture characteristics and detect edges on X-Ray images  to aid in the identification process of bone fractures. The methods used include the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), Local Binary Pattern (LBP), Sobel, Prewitt, and Roberts. GLCM is used to extract texture features in the form of Contrast, Energy, Correlation, and Homogeneity, while LBP is used to obtain local texture patterns. The Sobel, Prewitt, and Roberts method  is used to detect edges in bone structures. The implementation was carried out using Python on the Google Colab platform. The results showed that fracture images had a higher contrast value and a lower homogeneity value  compared to normal images. In addition, the Sobel method  results in a clearer edge visualization than other methods. The combination of texture analysis and edge detection is able to provide more complete information in the identification process of bone fractures.
