Abstract

Accurate training in Mandarin language’s tones from an early stage is essential for first and second-grade elementary school students. Through optimizing effective tone pronunciation practice using the drill technique combined with enjoyable game-based activities, students are expected to develop a strong foundation for their subsequent Mandarin language learning. This community service program aimed to improve the ability of students at SD YBPK Ngaglik to pronounce Mandarin tones accurately. The program consisted of three main activities: an introduction to the four Mandarin language tones followed by tone drills using Chinese tongue twisters (raokouling), individual games, and group games. The pre-test and post-test results demonstrated improvements across all assessment aspects. The average score for tone difference increased from 64,5 to 87,8. The average score for accurate tone production improved from 61,8 to 85,6. The average score for clear tone pronunciation increased from 68,2 to 89,1, while the average score for rapid tone production improved from 66,0 to 84,2. This activity successfully resulted in a positive impact by enhancing students' ability to differentiate and correctly pronounce the four tones of Mandarin language.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to optimize waiter service at Tijili Hotel Seminyak, as well as to overcome obstacles and elements that support the process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and collects data through participant observation, in-depth interviews with waiters, supervisors, managers, and documentation investigations. The results of interviews, documentation and observations indicate that there is a high workload during peak hours and this condition creates a significant difference between the number of available workers and the amount of work that has just been completed, the lack of understanding and mastery of procedures in new waiters which makes mastery of all service procedures incomplete and in-depth so that problems often arise that hinder service and disrupt the uniformity of work standards and the existence of communication and coordination between staff that is not optimal is the main cause of service errors, delays, and guest discomfort, especially in the midst of busy dining rooms. Based on these findings, this community service was carried out to find solutions to these problems in the form of providing training, conducting daily briefings and arranging a more flexible work schedule. To address this issue, a real-world needs-based work system was created. This allows for workload balance, improving the quality of human resources so that all employees have equal skills, and organizing the flow of information to ensure everyone can communicate effectively with each other. The implementation of this solution has demonstrated significant improvements; service has become smoother, more standardized, and more consistent, errors have been significantly reduced, and the work environment has become more cohesive and focused on guest satisfaction.

Abstract

Guest satisfaction is a crucial factor influencing the success of the hospitality industry, as it is closely associated with customer loyalty, hotel reputation, and business competitiveness. Based on observations, discussions with the management, and an analysis of guest reviews on the Booking.com platform, D’Nusa Beach Club and Resort continues to face challenges related to service quality and hotel facilities. These challenges include suboptimal service delivery, ineffective complaint handling, inconsistent room cleanliness, and several facilities requiring maintenance. This community service program aimed to improve service quality and facility management to enhance guest satisfaction. The methods employed included problem identification, socialization, service excellence training, facility management assistance, and evaluation. The socialization and training focused on service excellence, effective communication, customer experience, and complaint handling. Assistance activities included strengthening housekeeping standards, developing housekeeping checklists, and providing recommendations for regular facility maintenance. The results indicated an improvement in participants' understanding of the importance of responsive, friendly, and professional service, as well as increased awareness of the significance of facility maintenance and cleanliness standards in supporting guest comfort. Furthermore, the hotel management demonstrated a commitment to implementing the recommended improvements to enhance service quality and hotel facilities. Abstract

Anemia continues to be one of the major health issues among teenage girls in Indonesia, with a national prevalence of 32% among those aged 15–24, which impacts their ability to concentrate in school, their productivity, and their quality of life. The activity was held on July 8, 2026, at the Harapan Indah V Community Health Post (Posyandu) in Dayan Village, in collaboration with the Trucuk I Public Health Center (Puskesmas) and local health workers. This study employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and literature review. Educational materials covered the definition, causes, signs and symptoms, and impacts of anemia, as well as prevention efforts through a nutritious diet and adherence to iron supplement intake. The activity was attended by teenage girls from Dukuh Gecekan, Paesan, and Dayan, who actively participated in the question-and-answer sessions and discussions. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ understanding of anemia prevention and the importance of early detection of reproductive health issues among adolescents. This activity serves as a concrete strategy to support the fulfillment of young women’s reproductive health rights at the village level, in line with the DRPPA program’s performance indicators.

Abstract

Rural tourism development frequently struggles to convert static historical archives into dynamic, community-driven cultural attractions. This community service project aimed to bridge this gap by transforming the local historical chronicle, Babad Desa Banjarsari, into a functional Ludruk performance script to support the development of a signature cultural attraction for Banjarsari Tourism Village in Jombang Regency. Applying an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework combined with Participatory Action Research (PAR) principles, the intervention engaged 30 local youth, members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), and cultural elders through a structured four-stage process: narrative asset mapping, script adaptation, intensive performance coaching, and a public showcase evaluation. The project successfully extracted historical nodes from the manuscript into a three-act Ludruk script suitable for modern tourist audiences. Participant evaluations showed marked improvements in traditional acting techniques (an increase of $+2.7$ on a 5-point scale) and vocal projection (kidungan, $+2.2$), while post-performance audience surveys ($n = 50$) demonstrated that $86\%$ strongly agreed on the show's viability as a recurring village tourism event. In conclusion, embedding local chronicles into participatory Ludruk training not only revitalizes an endangered regional folk theater among local youth, but also offers a sustainable, community-led framework for heritage-driven rural tourism development.

Abstract

The growing volume of plastic waste remains a pressing environmental concern in rural areas, while the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Garden in Trasan Village has not been optimally utilized as a means of greening and yard-land management through the cultivation of family medicinal plants (TOGA) and vegetables. This condition became the background for a community service (KKN) program that adopted an eco-friendly concept through the reuse of discarded plastic gallon containers and the optimization of the PKK Garden in Trasan Village, Juwiring District, Klaten Regency. The program began with field observation, coordination with the village government and the PKK Mobilization Team, collection of used plastic gallons, construction of gates from recycled materials, and reorganization of the PKK Garden, all carried out participatively with the involvement of the community and PKK cadres. The results show that reusing plastic gallons reduced plastic waste while producing gates that enhanced the village environment, while the reorganized PKK Garden became better organized and functioned as a green space for TOGA and vegetable cultivation. The program also raised public awareness of environmental management and strengthened collaboration among students, the village government, and the community, and is expected to serve as a model of eco-friendly village environmental management that can be replicated in other villages facing similar conditions.
