Abstract

Low student achievement, due to limited engagement in learning activities and a lack of experience in discussion and group collaboration, reflects the continued dominance of teacher-centered instruction. This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes on the topics of pattern recognition and number patterns through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Grade IV at SDN 24 Ujung Gurun. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, conducted over two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and non-test instruments. The research subjects were the classroom teacher (as observer), the researcher (as practitioner), and the fourth-grade students. The results revealed significant improvements across various aspects: the quality of instructional modules increased from 87.49% to 95.83%; teaching performance from 85.71% to 94.63%; student participation from 82.14% to 92.85%; and learning outcomes from a score of 75.54 to 87.65. These findings confirm that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes while also promoting active engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

The Qur’an and Hadith serve not only as guides for worship but also contain foundational principles that support the development of science and technology (IPTEK). This article aims to examine the Islamic perspective on the importance of knowledge and how the Qur’an and Hadith provide philosophical, ethical, and practical foundations for scientific exploration. Using a descriptive qualitative method through a literature review, the study finds that numerous Qur’anic verses and prophetic traditions encourage intellectual activity, research, and scientific development as forms of scholarly responsibility and worship to Allah. In Islam, science and technology are not merely tools for progress but are also spiritual means to draw closer to Allah and to promote the welfare (maslahah) of humanity. History records the advancement of science and technology within Islamic civilization, producing renowned scholars whose contributions remain influential, affirming Islam’s support for scientific achievement. Moreover, Islamic spiritual values serve as an ethical framework to ensure that technological applications remain aligned with the principles of benefit and morality. Thus, the integration of religious values and science and technology is a vital strategy for building an advanced and ethical Islamic civilization.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of religion from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing Islam as a true and final revealed religion (agama wahyu) as well as a comprehensive system of thought and civilization. Islam is understood not merely as a spiritual belief, but as an all-encompassing way of life that governs every aspect of human existence, both individual and societal. The purpose of this study is to analyze Islam as an integral din through philosophical and theological approaches. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method based on literature review, the article highlights two main dimensions of Islam: the transcendental, as divine revelation conveyed through Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as the final messenger; and the historical, as a dynamic civilization that has fostered the development of science, culture, and social order. Islam, as a perfect religion, requires no revision yet remains profoundly relevant in addressing contemporary challenges. The conceptual distinction between its transcendental and historical aspects affirms Islam’s flexibility in facilitating social transformation grounded in divine values. The findings affirm that Islam is an integral, transformative, and contextual din that serves as a comprehensive path of life for humanity.

Abstract

Global economic structural shifts driven by modern capitalism and technological advancements have increasingly shaped human lifestyles toward consumerism, materialism, and individualism. This phenomenon has had a significant impact on education systems, particularly Islamic economic education, which faces the challenge of cultivating Muslim generations who excel not only academically but also possess spiritual integrity and social responsibility. This article aims to explore the role of the Islamic Worldview as a comprehensive value framework in developing a transformative model of Islamic economic education. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing from key literature including books, scholarly journals, and contemporary Islamic documents. The findings reveal that integrating the Islamic Worldview into economic education promotes the internalization of core values such as tauhid, amanah, qana’ah, and khilafah within the curriculum, instructional strategies, and economic character formation. This approach has proven effective in fostering an Islamic work ethic and economic self-reliance rooted in spirituality, blessing, and justice. The study concludes that Islamic economic education grounded in the Islamic Worldview is both a relevant and urgent approach to shaping productive, self-reliant, and morally grounded Muslim individuals amid contemporary global challenges.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires a learning system that accommodates the diversity of learners, including children with special needs, to ensure access, participation, and equity at the primary education level. This study aims to examine the concept, characteristics, and implementation strategies of a responsive curriculum as an approach that supports inclusive primary education. The method used is a literature review, focusing on relevant scholarly works published within the past five years. The findings indicate that developing a responsive curriculum necessitates the application of differentiated instruction, modifications in assessment systems, continuous teacher training, and supportive policies and infrastructure aligned with inclusive principles. The successful implementation of a responsive curriculum depends heavily on the active involvement of all stakeholders, including teachers, parents, policymakers, and the broader community. Thus, a responsive curriculum functions not only as a technical instructional tool but also as a tangible expression of a commitment to social justice and the right to education for all learners.

Abstract

Expert systems are a branch of artificial intelligence designed to replicate the reasoning abilities of a human expert in solving specific problems within a particular domain. This study aims to develop a web-based expert system using the forward chaining model to analyze and diagnose diseases in chili plants. The system is built using a rule-based approach, where users select observed symptoms and the system automatically generates a diagnosis through forward reasoning. Testing was conducted through black-box testing to ensure all features functioned as expected, and accuracy testing was performed by experts using ten real case studies. The results showed that the system successfully provided accurate diagnoses for all cases, achieving an accuracy rate of 100%. These findings demonstrate that the developed expert system is effective as a knowledge-based diagnostic tool. Furthermore, the system holds significant potential for expansion to other problem areas through adjustments to its knowledge base.

Abstract

The tahfidzul Qur’an program is an integral component of the pesantren education system, aimed not only at producing Qur’an memorizers but also at cultivating students’ character and discipline in the learning process. This article explores the relationship between the implementation of the tahfidz program and the development of students’ learning discipline through a literature review approach. The method employed is a library study of relevant literature on pesantren education, character formation, and learning theories. The findings indicate that the tahfidz program significantly contributes to discipline development through routine practice, role modeling by ustadz, and a structured and consistent coaching system. The application of behaviorist approaches and the integration of character education within tahfidz activities encourage students to develop consistency, focus, and a sense of responsibility in their studies. The study concludes that strengthening the tahfidzul Qur’an program within the pesantren curriculum is an effective strategy for shaping religious, strong-charactered, and disciplined students in their pursuit of knowledge.

Abstract

Spiritual education is a fundamental aspect in the formation of a complete human being, yet it is often overlooked in modern educational systems that prioritize cognitive development and technical skills. From an Islamic perspective, education encompasses intellectual, spiritual, and moral dimensions in an integrated manner. This paper aims to examine the concept of spiritual education (tarbiyah al-nafs) according to Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, a prominent 14th-century scholar known for his contributions to tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul). The study is conducted through a literature review of Ibn Qayyim's major works alongside contemporary references on Islamic education. The findings reveal that the objective of soul education according to Ibn Qayyim is to cultivate individuals with purified souls, strong spirituality, and noble character. The methods proposed include tazkiyah (purification), riyadhah (spiritual discipline), taubah (repentance), and the reinforcement of spiritually nurturing environments as means for internalizing values. This concept is highly relevant in addressing the moral and spiritual crises faced by contemporary education. The study concludes that Ibn Qayyim’s approach to soul education holds strategic significance in shaping learners who are not only intellectually capable but also morally grounded and spiritually resilient.

Abstract

The limited use of information technology-based instructional media and the lack of media variety in schools underscore the need for innovative teaching tools that align with current technological developments. This study aims to develop an interactive learning medium based on Microsoft Sway, which has undergone validation, practicality testing, and effectiveness testing for use in Grade IV Civic Education (Pendidikan Pancasila) classes at the elementary school level. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, comprising five phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through validation questionnaires completed by subject matter, language, and media experts, as well as practicality questionnaires completed by teachers and students. The trial subjects included 13 fourth-grade students from SDN 25 Sungai Tarab, while the main study subjects were 13 students from SDN 26 Gurun. Validation results indicated the media was highly valid, with scores of 90% (content), 82.5% (language), and 96.15% (media). Practicality tests showed very high levels of practicality: 92.85% (teachers) and 96.97% (students) at the trial school, and 96.42% and 97.80% at the main research school. Effectiveness testing results were also very high, with scores of 88.46% and 94.61%, respectively. The study concludes that Microsoft Sway-based instructional media is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing the quality of Pendidikan Pancasila learning for Grade IV elementary school students.

Abstract

The rising phenomenon of the hijrah movement among Muslim youth is a response to the challenges posed by modern culture, which tends to be secular and permissive. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Living Qur’an concept in shaping Islamic behavior and lifestyle among members of the Berani Hijrah Community in Tanjung Morawa A Village, Deli Serdang Regency. A qualitative approach was employed, using field research methods and the Living Qur’an framework to understand how Qur’anic teachings are internalized in daily life. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the internalization of Qur’anic values occurs through regular study sessions, mentoring, communal tadarus, social activities, and digital dakwah. Challenges faced by the community include fluctuating member enthusiasm, limited funding, and negative influences from the environment and social media. Nevertheless, the exemplary leadership of community organizers and support from local figures play a crucial role in sustaining the movement. The study demonstrates that the Berani Hijrah Community effectively fosters youth who are more religious, respectful, mature in thought, and committed to a modest and positive lifestyle. This research contributes to strengthening youth transformation movements grounded in Qur’anic values in the modern era.
