Abstract

Education is a fundamental aspect of human life, and in the Indonesian context, the urgency of character education continues to grow amid rising moral issues such as student brawls, drug abuse, and corruption. This study aims to examine the importance of character education in shaping students’ emotional and moral intelligence based on the principles of the Qur’an and Hadith. A literature study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that character education functions not only as the inculcation of moral values but also as a guide for navigating emotional and social challenges. The teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith emphasize values such as honesty, justice, and kindness, which serve as the foundation for the development of noble character. Ideally, character education should begin in early childhood, with active involvement from parents and teachers as behavioral role models through habituation, exemplary conduct, and motivational support. The lack of implementation of values such as responsibility and respect within the school environment underscores the need to strengthen character education rooted in Islamic values. The study concludes that character education grounded in the Qur’an and Hadith plays a strategic role in producing individuals of integrity who can contribute positively to the nation’s civilization, with the family serving as the first and most influential educational institution.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), a prominent figure in Indonesian history known for his progressive and humanistic thought, particularly in the field of Islamic education. A qualitative approach was employed using a library research method, with data sourced from books and articles written by or about Gus Dur. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to explore the meaning and substance of his educational ideas. The findings reveal that Gus Dur viewed Islamic education as a process not only for instilling Islamic values such as justice, equality, and humanity, but also as a means of fostering critical, participatory, and empathetic social consciousness. He emphasized the importance of an inclusive, tolerant, and humanistic approach to Islamic education while rejecting exclusive and discriminatory models. According to Gus Dur, education should promote respect for diversity and uphold human rights. The study concludes that Gus Dur’s educational thought remains relevant and applicable in addressing the complex and multicultural challenges of modern Islamic education. His contributions offer valuable guidance for developing a more open, democratic, and community-oriented Islamic educational system.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between Islam and local wisdom, focusing on the dynamics of interaction and mutual influence within the context of Indonesian culture. As a universal religion, Islam demonstrates a high degree of adaptability to local cultures, making it an integral part of the social life of communities. Conversely, local wisdom, which reflects traditional values and practices, often serves as a medium for introducing, reinforcing, and preserving Islamic teachings. This research employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze a range of relevant literature concerning the relationship between Islam and local wisdom. The findings reveal that Islam is capable of acculturating with local culture without compromising its core values, thereby fostering harmony in social practices and religious traditions. Nevertheless, challenges persist in maintaining a balance between preserving local cultural heritage and upholding Islamic law in its pure form. The study affirms that the synergy between Islam and local wisdom plays a strategic role in strengthening national cultural identity, particularly amid rapid social change and globalization. In conclusion, an integrative and holistic approach is needed to address the complexities of the relationship between religion and culture in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Land use change is a strategic issue in managing rapidly growing urban areas, including the city of Bukittinggi. Urbanization, population growth, and infrastructure development have driven the conversion of green spaces into built-up areas, resulting in increased environmental disaster risks and pressure on ecosystems. This study aims to analyze the land cover change patterns in Bukittinggi from 2017 to 2023 and to predict future changes by 2035 through the integration of the Cellular Automata (CA) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) models. The methodology includes Landsat satellite image classification and spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The AHP model was applied to assign weights to various factors influencing land use change, such as accessibility, population density, and land use types, which were then integrated into the CA predictive simulation. The results indicate a trend of increasing built-up land and a significant decline in agricultural and forest areas. The integration of CA and AHP models produced more accurate spatial predictions, offering a reliable basis for sustainable spatial planning. These findings contribute significantly to policy-making by supporting the design of urban development strategies that are both adaptive to change and environmentally sustainable.

Abstract

The use of practice-based instructional media in the subject of Audio Video Equipment Maintenance and Repair at vocational high schools (SMK) remains limited, particularly in providing tools that align with industry demands. This study aims to develop an LCD Television Trainer and Manual Book as practical learning media for vocational students. The research employed the Four-D (4D) development model, consisting of the Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination stages. The study involved 10 twelfth-grade students majoring in Audio Video Engineering at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. Data collection instruments included validity and practicality questionnaires administered to two lecturers and two teachers as validators, as well as to students as users. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods with a Likert scale. Validation results indicated a very high level of feasibility, with scores of 92.5% from content experts and 90% from media experts. Practicality testing by students yielded an average score of 92.6%, suggesting that the media are highly practical and effective for hands-on learning. The study concludes that the developed LCD Television Trainer and Manual Book are suitable for use as vocational learning media and contribute to improving the quality of skills-based education. The findings also highlight the potential for developing similar media in other technical fields and for digitalizing trainers to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need for innovative learning strategies that can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, particularly in Informatics subjects. The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of the Game Based Learning (GBL) model assisted by the interactive media Wordwall on the learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 4 Padang. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes selected through purposive sampling: the experimental class (X E 2), which implemented the GBL model with Wordwall, and the control class (X E 6), which used the Project Based Learning model. The research instruments included multiple-choice tests for both pre-test and post-test, which were tested for validity, reliability, item difficulty, and discrimination index. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests and documentation, while data analysis involved normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests using SPSS 27. The results revealed a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental and control classes, with post-test average scores of 83.61 and 72.78, respectively. The study concludes that the GBL model assisted by Wordwall is effective in improving student learning outcomes and fostering an interactive and enjoyable learning environment. Therefore, this model is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance the quality of Informatics education at the secondary school level.

Abstract

The lack of student interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 35 Padang highlights the need for innovative instructional media that can enhance student engagement. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Kahoot as a learning medium on the learning interest of eighth-grade students in PAI. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The sample consisted of 61 students from classes VIII-1, VIII-2, and VIII-5, selected using the Slovin formula. Research instruments included a learning interest questionnaire and students' academic scores. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression with SPSS version 30. The results show that the use of Kahoot has a positive and significant influence on students’ learning interest, with a relatively high level of effect. These findings support the theory that interactive learning media can enhance students' motivation and engagement in the learning process. The study concludes that Kahoot is an effective learning medium for increasing student interest in PAI. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the literature on digital media in education and practical recommendations for teachers to integrate Kahoot as an innovative and interactive learning tool. This research also opens opportunities for further studies on the effectiveness of other digital media in influencing students' affective and cognitive domains.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of psychology in Islamic education by highlighting the integration of psychological principles into the learning process to enhance the effectiveness of education rooted in Islamic values. A qualitative approach was employed using the library research method, analyzing literature related to educational psychology and Islamic education. The findings reveal that psychology plays a crucial role in understanding student characteristics, designing learning methods aligned with developmental stages, and shaping holistic personalities encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. In the context of Islamic education, the application of psychological principles supports the internalization of moral values, enhances learning motivation, and guides spiritual development. The integration of psychology and Islamic education provides a foundation for implementing holistic education aimed at nurturing insan kamil—a complete human being in both intellectual and spiritual dimensions. Thus, the synergy between these two disciplines serves as a critical basis for developing an educational system that fosters not only academic excellence but also strong character and morality.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the evolving function of Tari Ilau in Nagari Sumani, X Koto Singkarak District, Solok Regency. The primary focus is the transformation of Tari Ilau from its original sacred role performed exclusively during traditional wedding ceremonies into a more flexible form of performance featured in various social events, such as welcoming returning migrants, local election campaigns, and the 77th Indonesian Independence Day celebration in 2022. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, literature review, and documentation. The findings indicate that changes in the function of Tari Ilau have influenced performance elements, including a reduction in the number of movement variations from ten to eight, simplification of floor patterns to a single circular formation, a shift in dancer demographics from those aged over 50 to adolescents aged 16–20, as well as adaptations in music and performance settings based on event contexts. The study concludes that Tari Ilau has undergone a significant transformation from a ritual function to aesthetic and social functions, reflecting the cultural dynamics of the Nagari Sumani community in responding to changing times.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of Grade V students at SDN 24 Ujung Gurun are attributed to a lack of self-confidence and active participation in a teacher-centered learning process. This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on data-related material. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects included the classroom teacher, the researcher as practitioner, and 27 Grade V students. Data collection techniques comprised observation, tests, and non-test instruments. The results showed improvement across several aspects: the quality of teaching modules increased from 87.49% to 95.83%; teacher performance improved from 88.38% to 96.42%; student engagement rose from 88.38% to 94.5%; and the average learning outcome score increased from 70.32 (Fair category) to 89.02 (Good category). These findings demonstrate that the Problem Based Learning model is effective in enhancing student learning outcomes in data-related topics at the elementary level.
