Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the relationship between teachers’ pedagogical competence and students’ self-efficacy, particularly within the context of Society 5.0 in elementary education. This study aims to analyze the effect of teachers’ pedagogical competence on students’ self-efficacy. A quantitative research design was employed, involving elementary school students selected through random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Rasch model to examine instrument validity, reliability, and the interaction between variables. The findings reveal that teachers’ pedagogical competence has a significant positive effect on students’ self-efficacy, supporting social cognitive theory, which emphasizes the role of environmental factors in shaping individual beliefs. These findings indicate that pedagogical competence plays a critical role in strengthening students’ confidence in learning, particularly in adapting to the demands of Society 5.0. This study contributes to the literature on pedagogical competence and self-efficacy by providing empirical insight into their relationship in digital learning contexts. Practically, the findings imply that educators and policymakers should enhance teacher training programs and integrate technology-based instructional strategies to support students’ learning confidence. Future research is recommended to examine the integration of other teacher competencies and conduct longitudinal analyses of students’ self-efficacy development.

Abstract

Although social change and the implementation of social affairs programs have received attention in various previous studies, studies that specifically examine community responses to the implementation of social programs in local rural contexts, particularly in Pringkuku Subdistrict, remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the dynamics of community responses to the implementation of social affairs programs and to identify the factors that influence them. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 20 informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, and were then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that community responses were divided into three main categories, namely positive, moderate, and critical responses, which were influenced by social experiences, the level of understanding of policies, and perceptions of program effectiveness. In addition, policy communication and the level of community participation were key elements in determining the success of social program implementation. These findings contribute to the development of studies on social change, particularly in understanding the relationship between public policy and community responses at the local level. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of participatory approaches and effective communication in the implementation of social programs. The implications of this study indicate the need for local governments and policymakers to improve transparency, socialization, and active community involvement so that social programs become more adaptive and responsive to the needs of local communities, while also opening opportunities for further research on the effectiveness of social programs through quantitative or mixed-methods approaches with broader regional coverage.

Abstract

The low speaking skills (maharah al-kalam) of students in Arabic language learning remain a problem influenced by limited vocabulary, low self-confidence, and minimal communication practice in real contexts. This study aimed to describe teachers’ strategies in applying the direct method and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the development of students’ speaking ability at MTs Darul Hijroh Canden. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the strategy for applying the direct method was carried out through the integration of four main approaches, namely the creation of bi’ah lughawiyah or a language environment, hiwar or dialogue practice, role play, and the habituation of daily communication using Arabic. This strategy was able to improve students’ speaking ability, particularly in terms of fluency, confidence, and accuracy in language use. The main supporting factors included a conducive pesantren environment and students’ motivation, whereas the inhibiting factors included limited vocabulary and low self-confidence. The conclusion of this study confirms that the success of the direct method is largely determined by teachers’ consistency in integrating communicative and contextual learning strategies as well as the support of a sustainable language environment. The implications of this study indicate the importance of developing Arabic language learning based on communication and environment (language immersion) that pays balanced attention to students’ linguistic and psychological aspects.

Abstract

Although Islamic psychotherapy has received attention in various previous studies, research that specifically discusses the structured procedures and clinical mechanisms of Islamic psychotherapy techniques for treating anxiety and stress in Muslim populations remains limited. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the main procedures of Islamic psychotherapy in treating anxiety and stress through a systematic literature review approach. This study used a qualitative method with a systematic literature review (SLR) design guided by PRISMA principles, involving 46 primary sources selected from the Google Scholar, PubMed, PsycINFO, and GARUDA databases and published between 1988 and 2022. Data were collected through document analysis and evaluated using thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that Islamic psychotherapy includes six structured main procedures, namely dhikr therapy as emotional regulation, shalat as transcendental meditation, tilawah and tadabbur of the Al-Qur’an as cognitive restructuring, fasting as nafs training, tawakkal as acceptance therapy, and ruqyah syar’iyyah as a spiritual intervention. These findings contribute to the development of the biopsychosociospiritual model of mental health and expand understanding of religion-based therapeutic interventions. The conclusion of this study confirms that Islamic psychotherapy, through the holistic integration of spiritual and psychological dimensions, plays an important role in reducing symptoms of anxiety and stress in Muslim clients. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the literature on Islamic psychology and practical recommendations for developing a more structured and standardized Islamic psychotherapy curriculum.

Abstract

Although character education has become a major concern in Islamic education, studies that specifically discuss the integration of salaf and khalaf learning habituation as a comprehensive approach to shaping students’ character remain limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of salaf and khalaf learning habituation and its role as an alternative model in shaping students’ character at MA Mu’allimin Mu’allimat Mamba’ul Ma’arif Denanyar Jombang. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through passive participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the integration of salaf learning through the study of kitab kuning, religious habituation, and the internalization of adab, as well as khalaf learning through the formal curriculum with active methods, was implemented continuously in classroom learning activities and the culture of daily life in the madrasah. This approach was effective in developing students’ religious character, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and balance between intellectual and moral intelligence. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating traditional Islamic values with modern educational approaches as an alternative model for strengthening sustainable character education in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Elementary school students’ low understanding of moral conduct toward Allah, parents, and teachers is an important issue in character learning because the learning process is still dominated by lecture methods, the use of less varied media, and the suboptimal use of digital technology. This study aims to develop and analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of Canva-based “SAHABAT” learning media in improving students’ understanding of moral conduct toward Allah, parents, and teachers. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of needs analysis, product design, media development, classroom implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were elementary school students. Data were collected through material expert and media expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the improvement of students’ understanding. The results show that the Canva-based “SAHABAT” learning media obtained a highly feasible category based on expert validation. Students’ responses to the use of the media were in the very good category, as indicated by increased interest, attention, and involvement in learning. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis also showed an improvement in students’ understanding of moral conduct material. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the Canva-based “SAHABAT” learning media is feasible, useful, and effective in improving students’ understanding of moral conduct toward Allah, parents, and teachers. The implications of this study indicate that the use of innovative and interactive digital learning media can serve as an alternative for teachers in supporting character learning that is more engaging, meaningful, and aligned with technological development.

Abstract

Although project-based learning in Islamic Religious Education has received attention in various studies, research that specifically discusses the development of Project Based Learning (PjBL) through Classroom Action Research to improve learners’ learning outcomes at the junior secondary school level remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the PjBL model in improving learners’ learning outcomes and participation in Islamic Religious Education learning at SMP Negeri 8 Palangka Raya. This study used a quantitative-qualitative approach with a Classroom Action Research design implemented in two cycles, involving 32 Grade VIII students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests, and were then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results show that the implementation of PjBL was able to significantly improve learners’ participation and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. The percentage of learning mastery increased from 56.25% in the pre-cycle stage to 75% in Cycle I and reached 90.62% in Cycle II. In addition, learners showed improvements in collaboration, communication, and contextual understanding of Islamic values during the learning process. This finding contributes to the development of innovative learning theory in Islamic Religious Education and broadens understanding of the implementation of contextual learning at the junior secondary school level. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that PjBL plays an important role in increasing learners’ engagement and learning achievement in Islamic Religious Education. The implications of this study provide a practical basis for teachers and schools in implementing collaborative, contextual, and learner-centered learning, while also opening opportunities for further research on the integration of digital learning media and character education in project-based Islamic Religious Education learning.

Abstract

Although the use of various teaching methods in Arabic language learning has been widely examined, research specifically discussing the systematic application of the eclectic method (thariqah intiqaiyyah) in pesantren contexts, where traditional and modern educational values intersect, remains limited. This study aims to examine the conceptual foundations, implementation patterns, and effectiveness of the eclectic method in Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative approach with a library research design through the analysis of primary and secondary sources, including journal articles, institutional reports, and relevant academic literature published during the 2020–2025 period. Data were collected through systematic documentation and analyzed using content analysis techniques with descriptive-interpretive elaboration. The findings show that the eclectic method enables pesantren educators to selectively integrate elements from various established methods, such as the grammar-translation method, the direct method, and the communicative approach, to address the diverse needs of learners and the dynamics of the learning context. This finding contributes to the development of integrative language pedagogy and broadens understanding of adaptive Arabic language teaching practices in Islamic educational institutions. The study concludes that methodological flexibility plays an important role in maintaining the dual mission of pesantren as preservers of classical Islamic tradition and agents of educational modernization. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the development of integrative Arabic language pedagogy and practical implications for pesantren educators and curriculum developers in designing context-sensitive and learner-centered Arabic language learning.

Abstract

The development of digital financial technology has expanded online lending services by providing easier public access to financing; however, online lending practices in Indonesia continue to face ethical and legal concerns, including riba, excessive interest rates, ambiguous contracts, and intimidating or inhumane debt collection methods. This study aims to analyze the authenticity of the hadith Man anzhara mu‘siran aw wada‘a ‘anhu and examine its relevance to online lending practices from an Islamic financial perspective. A qualitative approach was employed using the tahlili method through library research. Data were obtained from primary hadith sources, including Sahih Muslim, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah, and Musnad Ahmad, as well as relevant hadith and Islamic finance literature. The analysis was conducted through takhrij of the hadith, criticism of sanad and matan, and contextual analysis of contemporary online lending practices. The findings show that the hadith is categorized as sahih li ghairihi and contains ethical values of compassion, tolerance, justice, and leniency toward individuals experiencing economic hardship. The study also finds that online lending practices involving riba, economic exploitation, and coercive debt collection contradict Sharia principles and the ethical values embedded in the hadith. The study concludes that the hadith is relevant as a normative foundation for developing a fair, transparent, and Sharia-compliant digital financial system. These findings contribute to Islamic finance discourse by strengthening the ethical basis for regulating online lending practices in accordance with maqasid al-Shari‘ah.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited empirical research that simultaneously examines students’ religious moderation in campus life and social media spaces, although both play an important role in shaping students’ religious attitudes in the digital era. This study aims to describe the level of students’ religious moderation, identify their patterns of attitudes toward religious issues in the digital era, and analyze the role of project-based learning in internalizing moderation values aligned with Islam wasathiyah. This study used a mixed methods design. Quantitative data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire with 16 statement items involving 47 students across study programs at Universitas Negeri Makassar, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with informants selected purposively. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that students’ level of religious moderation was in the very high category, with an overall mean of 4.62 on a 1–5 scale and a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.95. The highest scores were found in the aspects of respect for differences in belief, rejection of violence in the name of religion, and comfort in interreligious relations. However, the aspects of verifying religious information and resilience against digital provocation still need to be strengthened. Interview data confirmed that social media is ambivalent because it can open spaces for dialogue while also serving as a medium for the spread of hoaxes and identity polarization. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that students’ religious moderation is already strong at the normative level and in direct social relations, but still requires strengthening in the dimension of religious digital literacy. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic Religious Education literature through the integration of wasathiyah values with digital literacy competencies, as well as practical contributions for educators in designing project-based Islamic Religious Education learning that explicitly integrates indicators of moderation and religious digital literacy as foundational competencies for students who are religious, moderate, and socially responsible.
