Abstract

Agricultural productivity plays a crucial role in ensuring global food security, yet prolonged drought continues to threaten the sustainability of dryland farming systems, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to develop a Localised Agriculture Strategy (LAS) within a Social-Ecological Systems framework to enhance dryland farming productivity in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study approach, primary data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews with 16 informants, including farmers, water user groups, and irrigation managers, while secondary data were obtained from relevant documentation. The data were analysed thematically to identify context-specific adaptive strategies. The findings reveal that LAS emerges as a social-ecological adaptation shaped by the interaction between local communities and environmental constraints. Four key strategies were identified: (1) classification of agricultural vulnerability levels based on Awiq-awiq (customary regulations), (2) utilisation of the Rowot Sasak calendar and dryland distribution maps as sources of drought-related information, (3) adjustment of the gogo (upland rice) cultivation system according to drought intensity, and (4) strengthening collective action (gotong royong) in optimising embung (small reservoirs) for irrigation and aligning cropping patterns with water availability. These strategies demonstrate that integrating local knowledge, social institutions, and ecological conditions can significantly improve agricultural productivity in drought-prone areas. This study contributes to the development of social-ecological-based agricultural strategies and offers practical insights for promoting adaptive farming practices and sustainable watershed management in dryland environments.

Abstract

Predicting career success is a strategic effort to understand and direct an employee's professional journey. Supervisor sponsorship, soft skills, emotional intelligence, and growth mindset are used to predict employee success after 3 years of work experience in the same position and company, so that careers become more planned, measurable, and in line with potential and long-term goals. Supervisor sponsorship was chosen because it paves the way for employee careers. Soft skills and emotional intelligence were chosen because they can strengthen performance rather than success, while growth mindset was chosen because it can be a tool in maintaining the sustainability of individual development in thinking patterns. The approach used in this study was quantitative with a sample population of 150 coal employees in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan with 3 years of work experience in the same position and company. The method used in this study was purposive sampling, data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the LISREL program. The results showed that supervisor sponsorship, soft skills, emotional intelligence, and growth mindset positively predicted career success for coal employees after 3 years of work experience in the same position and company in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The four variables support in predicting the success of employees who have worked in the same position and company for 3 years in the same position and company in understanding and directing an employee's professional journey.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a model of legal protection based on local wisdom that is capable of safeguarding the social sustainability of small-scale oil palm farmers in East Kalimantan Province. This research is based on the reality that small-scale oil palm farmers frequently face legal uncertainty, economic inequality and the marginalisation of local wisdom values due to the expansion of the plantation industry. Therefore, a legal framework is required that is not only grounded in formal regulations but also accommodates local cultural values and Islamic principles. The method employed is sociological legal research using an interdisciplinary approach. Primary data was obtained through interviews with small-scale farmers, traditional leaders, religious figures and village officials in Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Secondary data was gathered from legislation, academic literature, as well as fatwas and principles of Sharia. The analysis was conducted by integrating development law theory, justice theory, concepts of local wisdom and Islamic principles that emphasise the values of maslahah (public interest), ‘adl (justice) and hifz al-bi’ah (environmental protection). The research findings indicate that legal protection for small-scale oil palm farmers remains weak because existing regulations have not accommodated the social sustainability of small-scale farmers due to the dominance of an industrial paradigm in plantation management. An integrative legal protection model combining positive law, local wisdom, and the principles of Maqasid Shari’ah is proposed as an alternative to achieve substantive justice, social sustainability and environmental protection, is illustrated through the “Tali Bapintan Adat Paser” model a form of preventive legal protection comprising three main elements: land restitution based on customary consultation (mufakat adat), a social safety net (through corporate zakat (qardhul hasan), and the application of Shari’ah contracts such as musaqah.

Abstract

The development of e-commerce in Indonesia has increased digital transaction activities while giving rise to various electronic disputes between consumers and business actors. These disputes have special characteristics, such as the use of electronic contracts, cross-regional transactions, and digital proof, so that conventional litigation mechanisms are considered less effective because they require high costs and a long time. This study aims to analyze the e-commerce dispute resolution model in Indonesia through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) approaches. The research method used is a mixed method with normative and empirical approaches. The normative approach is carried out through the study of laws and regulations and legal literature, while the empirical approach is used to understand dispute resolution practices on digital platforms. The results show that adr and ODR are more suitable to be applied in e-commerce disputes because they offer flexibility, cost efficiency, and quick resolution. However, the implementation of ODR in Indonesia still faces regulatory, institutional, transparency, and standard procedural constraints. Therefore, a national ODR model that is integrated with the Indonesian legal system is needed to ensure legal certainty, consumer protection, and the effectiveness of digital dispute resolution.

Abstract

Through legal doctrinal research, this paper investigates the normative construction and philosophical foundations of integrating restorative justice in the Indonesian criminal justice system. This study uses legislative, comparative, and conceptual methods to assess the legal structure, consistency, and prospects for the implementation of the National Criminal Code (Law No. 1/2023) and the Criminal Procedure Law (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Acara Pidana/KUHAP). The results of the study show a fairly comprehensive normative framework with a strong philosophical foundation based on Pancasila, supported by constitutional clauses and customary law traditions. In particular, this study found that the paradigm transformation from retributive to restorative is reflected in the goal of punishment that emphasizes the restoration of social relationships, the reintegration of perpetrators, and the protection of victims. However, the effectiveness of implementation still faces challenges in the form of regulatory disharmony, limited capacity of law enforcement officials, and the lack of optimal monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for the implementation of restorative agreements. In addition, there are normative gaps related to loss recovery standards, protection of vulnerable groups, and integration of customary law in formal judicial practice. This condition shows that although conceptually restorative justice has acquired strong normative legitimacy, its implementation still requires institutional strengthening and policy harmonization. To ensure effective, equitable, and protection-oriented implementation of human rights, this study proposes a framework for the Pancasila-Based Integrated Restorative Justice System and offers legal policy recommendations that emphasize the integration of structural, substantial, cultural, and procedural dimensions in the national criminal justice system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ and parents’ perceptions regarding the causal factors of students’ deviant behavior at SMK Negeri 5 Sarolangun. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach to obtain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon based on the experiences and perspectives of the informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The informants consisted of guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and parents of students who had committed disciplinary violations. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings revealed that students’ deviant behavior manifested in various forms, including tardiness, uniform violations, academic disengagement, smoking on school premises, verbal misconduct, bullying, and cheating. Teachers perceived family disharmony, lack of parental supervision, and negative peer influence as the primary causal factors. In contrast, parents emphasized insufficient school supervision, inconsistent disciplinary enforcement, and weak character education as contributing factors. Nevertheless, both teachers and parents agreed that peer influence, social media exposure, and adolescents’ emotional instability significantly affected students’ behavior. The study concludes that strengthening collaboration and communication between schools and families is essential in addressing deviant behavior and fostering students’ moral development.

Abstract

Religious moral character formation remains a central challenge in Islamic education, particularly in cultivating students' worship discipline within the madrasah environment. This study investigates the internalization of religious morality (akhlak religius) through congregational Dhuhr prayer at State Islamic Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 2 Muaro Jambi, focusing on the internalization process, observable forms of student discipline, and the factors that support and hinder the process. A qualitative field research design was employed, with data collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the school principal, Aqidah Akhlak teacher, homeroom teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model and validated through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings demonstrate that internalization unfolds through three progressive stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value trans-internalization. Observable manifestations include timeliness in prayer attendance, orderliness and reverence during worship, personal accountability toward worship obligations, and compliance with the madrasah's religious norms. Teacher exemplary conduct and active participation emerged as the most decisive supporting factor, alongside strong institutional commitment and peer social accountability. The primary hindering factors were inconsistent home-based religious reinforcement, competing social attractions during the prayer period, and individual variations in students' spiritual readiness. The study concludes that congregational Dhuhr prayer, when embedded within a structured and consistent institutional framework, constitutes a powerful medium for authentic religious moral character formation among junior high school students.

Abstract

This article critically examines fiscal clientelism in Bogor Regency through the Pancakarsa vision-mission framework and its five governmental commitments: Bogor Cerdas, Bogor Sehat, Bogor Maju, Bogor Berkeadaban, and Bogor Nyaman. Drawing on shadow-state theory, the study explores how informal political actors—including brokers, financiers, business elites, intellectuals, religious leaders, and political families—shape project allocation, strategic appointments, licensing, and patron-client reciprocity within local democratic institutions. The article argues that Pancakarsa can operate as a democratic governance grammar only when its programmatic commitments are insulated from clientelistic brokerage and translated into transparent budgeting, civic literacy, participatory oversight, and pluralist religious communication. Employing qualitative conceptual-policy analysis and thematic interpretation of governance documents, policy discourse, and recent scholarly literature, the study shows that fiscal legitimacy is not merely a matter of administrative compliance, but a contested political resource through which voters evaluate distributive fairness, institutional credibility, and moral leadership. The findings contribute to debates on Indonesian local democracy by demonstrating how fiscal-voter strategy can either reproduce shadow-state domination or strengthen democratic resilience when anchored in accountable public finance and inclusive civic education. The article offers policy implications for designing anti-clientelistic procurement, open budgeting, transparent appointments, digital complaint systems, and pluralist communication strategies in Bogor Regency and comparable decentralized settings
