Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the monitoring mechanism carried out by parliament on executive performance in the Indonesian constitutional law system. Parliamentary oversight of executive policies is an important mechanism for maintaining accountability and transparency in government. However, concerns remain regarding how much this mechanism effectively meets its objectives. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with members of parliament, executive officials, and constitutional law experts. Additionally, analysis of documents and policies related to parliamentary oversight was also carried out. This research shows that although the parliamentary oversight mechanism for executive performance has been regulated in law, several challenges hinder its effectiveness. These challenges include limited time and resources available to parliament, a lack of understanding of the role and authority of parliamentary oversight, and political factors that influence parliamentary independence. Apart from that, this research also found that good cooperation and communication between parliament and the executive is essential in increasing the effectiveness of supervisory mechanisms. Transparency in information delivery, open dialogue between the two institutions, and a follow-up mechanism for monitoring findings can also strengthen the effectiveness of parliamentary oversight of executive performance. This research enriches understanding of parliamentary oversight mechanisms in the Indonesian constitutional law system. It is hoped that the results of this research can become a basis for improving and strengthening parliamentary oversight mechanisms to be more effective in maintaining accountability and transparency in government.

Abstract

The inability of students to grasp a concept or solve problems during the learning process is an inevitable occurrence. One such instance is when students encounter challenges in solving economic problems. Addressing the issue of students' inability to analyze questions in economics learning is essential, as every student inherently possesses the potential for analytical problem-solving abilities. This research is a qualitative research project involving high school students in Cirebon Regency as participants. The data collection techniques employed in this research include observation, data analysis, and in-depth interviews. The objective of this research is to investigate how students utilize their reflective thinking abilities in problem-solving within the context of economics learning. In this research, learning styles exert the greatest influence on economics learning in schools. Several factors contribute to students' reluctance to complete economics assignments, including differences in students' learning styles. Some students prefer theoretical learning, while others prefer practical learning. Additionally, obstacles arise from a lack of self-awareness, which hinders reflective thinking. In this research, learning styles emerge as the primary influencer on economics education within schools. Numerous factors contribute to students' reluctance to complete economics assignments, notably variances in their learning styles. While some students gravitate towards theoretical learning, others lean towards practical learning. Moreover, challenges arise from a deficiency in self-awareness, impeding reflective thinking.

Abstract

Developing speaking proficiency is a critical goal for students in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs, as effective oral communication skills are essential for their future professional success. This literature review aims to synthesize existing research on assessing and enhancing speaking proficiency among ESP students through various pedagogical approaches. The review explores three main themes: 1) the multifaceted nature of speaking proficiency for ESP students, encompassing linguistic competencies, pragmatic awareness, and intercultural communicative competence; 2) assessment methods for evaluating ESP students' speaking abilities, including standardized tests, performance-based assessments, and contextualized rubrics; and 3) pedagogical approaches for improving speaking skills, such as task-based language teaching, project-based learning, technology integration, and explicit instruction on pragmatics and discourse strategies. The literature review highlights the importance of aligning assessment practices and instructional methods with the specific communicative needs and target language use situations of ESP learners in their respective professional domains. By critically analyzing and synthesizing the findings from relevant studies, this review contributes to a deeper understanding of best practices for assessing and developing speaking proficiency in ESP contexts. Implications for curriculum design, teacher training, and future research directions are discussed, with the ultimate goal of better preparing ESP students to become effective and confident communicators in their chosen fields.

Abstract

Manager's language style plays a crucial role in influencing employee motivation and performance within an organization. This study aims to explore the relationship between manager's language style, motivation, and employee performance using a qualitative descriptive approach. By relying on existing literature and personal observations in the context of management, this study seeks to provide a deeper understanding of how manager's language style can impact employee perceptions of their motivation and performance. Through thematic analysis of relevant literature, several key themes have been identified, including the importance of clear and positive communication, the impact of motivating language on employee engagement, and the role of constructive feedback in enhancing performance. The findings from this study highlight the need for managers to strategically use language that fosters a positive and motivating work environment, which can ultimately lead to increased employee motivation and performance. Practical implications of this research include recommendations for managers to adopt more effective language styles and for organizations to provide appropriate communication training for their leaders. Although this study has limitations due to its reliance on secondary data sources, the resulting findings provide a strong foundation for further research on the role of language style in management.

Abstract

The urgency of alternative punishment as a substitute for imprisonment related to the purpose of punishment is driven by sharp criticism and dissatisfaction with prison sentences, especially short-term sentences, which are considered to have more negative effects (having the nature of suffering and not developing the perpetrators of criminal acts) and are no longer effective in improving the perpetrators. and tackling crime. In realizing its objectives, punishment must uphold a person's honor and dignity, punishment must also be able to make people fully aware of the actions they have committed and cause them to have a positive and constructive mental attitude towards efforts to overcome crime and the punishment is felt to be fair both to the convict and to victims or by society. Purpose theory (utilitarian) is the basis for the purpose of punishment, namely that punishment is not to decide the absolute demands of justice. So in essence there are two main aspects in the purpose of punishment which are legal interests that are to be protected in a balanced manner, namely the interests of society and the interests of the individual (perpetrator of the crime). As well as using punishment in accordance with the modern school of punishment, this school requires individualization of punishment to carry out rehabilitation and resocialization of individuals and perpetrators of criminal acts. Social work penalties can be imposed by a judge in order to minimize overcrowding in correctional institutions by implementing Article 20 of the Criminal Code or through sociological teleological interpretation of the law by harmonizing with existing regulations and not conflicting with applicable legal rules through procedures for investigating correctional institutions that experience excessive capacity. first to be submitted to the Minister of Law and Human Rights

Abstract

Regional autonomy is the implementation of territorial decentralization within the constitutional framework of Indonesia. As a result, regions have the rights, authority, and obligations to manage and govern their own household affairs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Democratization, empowerment, and public participation are the goals of the Regional Autonomy policy rollout in Indonesia. To achieve this, the government implements various decentralization policies. Provinces and districts are granted limited autonomy, while villages are given original autonomy. Both individuals and groups or communities engage in activities known as community participation, aiming to achieve communal goals by aligning their interests or relationships with organizations or the broader community. This study conducts qualitative descriptive research. The findings indicate that leadership, communication, and education influence community participation in Nggembe Village. The results show that the village head acts as a good leader; communication between the village government and the community is effective; and that the Nggembe Village population has a low level of education.
