Abstract

Orientalist studies of the Quran have given rise to various criticisms that question the authenticity and originality of the revelation, one of which is the allegation that the Quran’s language is derived from Jewish traditions and earlier religions. Abraham Geiger and Theodore Nöldeke were Orientalist scholars who argued that certain vocabulary, religious concepts, laws, and stories in the Quran are closely linked to Jewish traditions and other foreign languages. This study aims to analyze Geiger and Nöldeke’s views on the allegations of linguistic duplication in the Quran and to examine Muslim scholars’ responses to these views. The study employs a qualitative method using a content analysis approach. Data were obtained from primary sources the works of Orientalists and secondary sources, including books, journals, and relevant literature on the sciences of the Quran (ulumul Quran). Data analysis was conducted using content analysis and descriptive-critical analysis. The results of the study indicate that the allegations of linguistic duplication in the Quran stem from a historical-philological approach that highlights similarities in vocabulary and traditions between the Quran and Jewish and Christian texts. However, Muslim scholars argue that these similarities are part of a process of acculturation and Arabization of language that does not diminish the authenticity of the Quran as a revelation from Allah. Thus, the existence of vocabulary that bears similarities to other languages cannot be used as a basis for denying the originality and miraculous nature of the Quran.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in learning, as evidenced by uneven student participation in class, students’ reluctance to ask questions, answer, and express their opinions, and the limited variety of instructional models used. In addition, students often had difficulty understanding the problems presented by teachers because they were not directly related to their own experiences. This study aims to determine whether the Critical Incident learning model influences students’ learning engagement in Akidah Akhlak lessons. This is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Data were collected using a questionnaire completed by the students. The study population consisted of 197 students, with a sample of 64 students: Class V.1 served as the experimental group and Class V.2 as the control group. The sampling technique used was non-probability purposive sampling. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, the findings of this study are as follows. First, the learning engagement of students in Class V.2 without the use of the Critical Incident learning model had an average of -32%, falling into the low category. Second, the learning engagement of students in Class V.1 using the Critical Incident learning model had an average of 79%, falling into the active category. Third, the Critical Incident learning model has a significant effect on student learning engagement. This is supported by the results of the hypothesis test at a significance level of 0.05, which yielded a Sig. value of 0.00. Since Sig. 0.00 < 0.05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that the Critical Incident learning model has an effect on students’ learning engagement in the Akidah Akhlak course.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the tilawah method on students’ ability to recite the Quran with proper intonation in the Quran and Hadith course at Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through an oral test of intonation ability and analyzed using a normality test and a paired-sample t-test with the aid of SPSS. The results indicate that the students’ intonation ability improved after the implementation of the tilawah method, as evidenced by the increase in the mean post-test score compared to the pre-test score. The hypothesis test yielded a significance level (2-tailed) of < 0.05, indicating that the tilawah method has a significant effect on the students’ nagham skills in reciting the Quran. The implications of this study suggest that the tilawah method can be used as an alternative teaching method for the Quran and Hadith to improve students’ nagham skills and the quality of their Quranic recitation.

Abstract

As nonprofit organizations, mosques have a responsibility to present transparent and accountable financial statements to their congregants and donors. However, many mosques still prepare financial statements in a rudimentary manner and do not adhere to applicable accounting standards. This study aims to analyze the application of ISAK 35 in the presentation of financial statements at a mosque in Indonesia. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method, using primary data sources such as interviews and secondary data sources such as financial statements, transaction records, and a list of the mosque’s fixed assets. Data collection was conducted through interviews and documentation, while data analysis involved reconstructing the financial statements in accordance with ISAK 35 provisions. The results indicate that the financial statements of the Jami’ Pauh Mosque are still prepared in a simplified manner and include only revenues and expenses. This presentation does not yet meet the requirements of ISAK 35 because it does not include a statement of financial position, a statement of comprehensive income, a statement of changes in net assets, and a statement of cash flows. After reconstruction based on ISAK 35, the following figures were obtained: a statement of financial position of Rp 4,053,488,666.67; a comprehensive income deficit of Rp 95,388.89; net assets of Rp 4,053,488,666.67; and a cash flow balance of Rp 4,921,500.00. These findings highlight the importance of improving the accounting skills of mosque administrators so they can apply appropriate financial reporting standards.

Abstract

Tax avoidance has become a critical issue due to the conflict of interest between companies seeking to reduce their tax liabilities and the government striving to increase state revenue. This study aims to explore and analyze the influence of profitability, fixed asset intensity, and executive characteristics on tax avoidance among companies in the industrial sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2020 to 2024, both individually and collectively. An associative quantitative method was used in this study to investigate the causal relationships among the variables. The data were obtained from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange and cover five observation periods, namely 2020 through 2024. The population for this study consisted of 65 companies, and 12 companies were selected as the sample based on specific criteria. The sample was obtained using purposive sampling, resulting in a total of 60 data points. To ensure the reliability and accuracy of the proposed model, descriptive statistical tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing were conducted using SPSS version 26. The conclusions that can be drawn from the findings of this study are: i) profitability is not influenced by tax avoidance; ii) the fixed-asset intensity variable has a negative and significant effect on tax avoidance; iii) the executive character variable has a positive and significant effect on tax avoidance; and based on these combined results, profitability, fixed-asset intensity, and executive character significantly influence tax avoidance. The results of this study have implications for the tax audit process in terms of enhancing oversight of companies with specific characteristics, thereby minimizing aggressive tax avoidance.

Abstract

This study was designed to analyze the impact of implementing Wordwall-based interactive learning media on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in the Akidah Akhlak course at an Islamic junior high school in Indonesia. It was found that eighth-grade students at this school were not achieving their full academic potential in the Akidah Akhlak course. This phenomenon is believed to be related to a lack of variety in teaching methods and low student participation in the teaching-learning process. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method that adopts a Non-Equivalent Control Group design. This study involved 45 students, who were divided into two classes: VIII.1 as the comparison (control) group and VIII.2 as the treatment (experimental) group, which would undergo an intervention using the Wordwall platform. Data were collected through observation, evaluation of academic achievement, and document review. Data analysis included tests of normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using the t-test for independent samples. The study results showed a significance value (Sig., 2-tailed) of 0.016. This value is lower than the threshold of 0.05, indicating a significant difference in learning achievement between the treatment group and the control group. These findings support the conclusion that the use of Wordwall has a positive impact on improving students’ learning outcomes in the Akidah Akhlak subject. Thus, Wordwall can be considered an effective digital learning alternative to enhance the quality of Akidah Akhlak instruction, given its ability to increase active student participation and create a more dynamic and engaging learning environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the important role of Islamic religious education teachers, classroom management, and religious character education, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that can interfere with the process of developing students' religious character. Religious character is expected to shape students with religious principles and good morals. This research uses a qualitative method with field research. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was validated through source triangulation and technical triangulation. The research informants consisted of the principal, Islamic religious education teacher, fifth-grade homeroom teacher, and fifth-grade students. The results of the study indicate that the role of Islamic religious education teachers in shaping the religious character of fifth-grade students based on classroom management is implemented through management functions including planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising. During the planning stage, Islamic religious education teachers develop learning activities and habits that instill religious values. During the organizing and implementing stages, teachers act as educators, guides, motivators, and role models through activities such as praying before class, reading the Quran, praying in congregation, and instilling attitudes of discipline, honesty, and responsibility. During the supervising stage, teachers monitor the development of students' religious character. Supporting factors in the development of students' religious character include teacher role models, a religious school environment, and parental support. Inhibiting factors include limited supporting facilities, diverse student characteristics, and influences from the outside environment. This research is expected to provide recommendations for improving the quality of religious character education through classroom management at elementary school, so that students are not only academically intelligent but also spiritually intelligent.

Abstract

This study aims to examine teachers’ strategies in enhancing Quranic memorization among early childhood learners. The ability to memorize the Quran is considered one of the essential aspects of Islamic education that should be instilled from an early age through methods and strategies aligned with the developmental characteristics of children. In the learning process, teachers are required to design effective strategies so that Quranic memorization activities become easier, more enjoyable, and meaningful for young learners. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, as this method allows for a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon within its real-life context. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. The data analysis process followed the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, as outlined by Miles and Huberman, ensuring that the findings were systematically examined and academically reliable. The results of the study indicate that the strategies used by teachers to improve Quranic memorization include the application of the talaqqi method, repetition (muraja’ah), daily habituation, the provision of motivation and rewards, as well as parental involvement in supporting children’s memorization at home. Supporting factors for successful memorization consist of teacher competence, a religious school environment, and family support, while inhibiting factors include differences in children’s abilities, limited instructional time, and insufficient parental assistance at home. The study concludes that the implementation of well-planned, consistent strategies tailored to the developmental stages of early childhood can significantly enhance Quranic memorization skills and foster a love for the Quran from an early age. In this way, the research contributes to the development of Islamic educational practices, particularly in shaping Quranic-oriented generations through integrative and sustainable pedagogical approaches.

Abstract

Death creates legal consequences in the form of the transfer of rights and obligations to heirs. In Islamic inheritance law, inheritance issues are not only related to the distribution of inheritance assets but also concern the protection of parties who may lose inheritance rights, such as orphaned grandchildren and relatives who do not receive inheritance shares. To address these issues of justice, Indonesian Islamic law has developed the concepts of compulsory bequest (wasiat wajibah) and substitute heirs as regulated in the Compilation of Islamic Law. This study aims to analyze the concepts, legal foundations, implementation, and relevance of compulsory bequests and substitute heirs in realizing justice within Islamic inheritance law in Indonesia. This research employs a normative legal research method with a library research approach. Data were collected from primary legal sources, including the Quran, Hadith, the Compilation of Islamic Law, and relevant court decisions, as well as secondary legal sources such as books, scientific journals, and previous studies. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically through conceptual and statutory approaches. The findings indicate that compulsory bequests serve as a legal instrument to protect individuals who are not entitled to direct inheritance rights, such as adopted children, adoptive parents, and, in certain judicial practices, heirs of different religions. Meanwhile, substitute heirs represent a reform of Islamic inheritance law that allows grandchildren to replace the position of their deceased parents who passed away before the testator. Both concepts share the same objective of promoting justice, public welfare, and protection of family economic rights. Therefore, compulsory bequests and substitute heirs constitute forms of Islamic legal ijtihad that remain relevant to contemporary societal needs and are consistent with the principles of maqashid al-shariah in preserving wealth and lineage.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how Islamic virtue ethics is interpreted as the foundation for redesigning the character of Islamic Education students in facing the transition from academic life to the modern world of work. This study employed an interpretive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, written reflections, and field notes involving Islamic Education students who were in the career preparation phase. The data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis to identify patterns of meaning related to Islamic values, character, career adaptability, and professional dilemmas. The findings show that amanah shapes professional responsibility, honesty, discipline, and workplace trust. Sabr and tawakkul build spiritual-professional career resilience in facing anxiety, failure, job rejection, and future uncertainty. Ihsan and ikhlas form a meaningful work orientation that emphasizes quality, social benefit, service, and worship value. This study also found that Islamic Education students negotiate Islamic values with the pragmatic demands of the workplace; therefore, career adaptability is not understood as unlimited flexibility, but as ethical adaptation. This article offers the concept of virtue-based career adaptability as a theoretical contribution to character education in Islamic Education. The implications of this study emphasize the need for Islamic virtue-based career guidance, the integration of character and employability, and the development of value-based career maps for Islamic Education students in a contextual, sustainable, and ethically grounded manner in the complex modern world of work.
