Abstract

Vocational high school students need to learn the English language tailored to their specific majors. It is necessary to design the specific module for their chosen field, especially in fashion majors. This study aimed to design an interactive English teaching module using Quizizz for a fashion major in a vocational high school, along with discovering the feasibility of the English teaching module in supporting teaching-learning in English for fashion majors. This is a Research and Development (R&D) study with the ADDIE model consisting of five phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Interviews, documentation, and expert validation questionnaires were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The developed English teaching module using Quizizz resulted in three sections: introduction, main lessons, and assessments with different variations of feature tasks such as slides, poll, multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blanks, match, reorder, drag-drop and drop-down, draw, audio responses, and open-ended enriched the interactivity of the module. The results of expert validation for the module showed high feasibility for the module to use in the classroom, with an average percentage score of 96% for content and 94% for media. Based on the result, it can be shown that the English teaching module using the Quizizz application is very good to be applied in English teaching and learning for fashion majors.

Abstract

Higher education aims to help students develop their potential, but graduate students often face challenges such as thesis completion, academic demands, social pressures, and internal obstacles, triggering academic stress. This study examined the relationship between self-management and problem-focused coping with academic stress among 92 professional psychology master's students in Surabaya, using a correlational quantitative method. Data were collected via Likert-scale instruments: the academic stress scale, self-management scale, and problem-focused coping scale. Results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-management and academic stress, indicating that lower self-management abilities correlate with higher academic stress. Similarly, a significant negative relationship was found between problem-focused coping and academic stress, showing that lower coping skills are associated with greater academic pressure. These findings suggest that self-management and problem-focused coping both play crucial roles in managing academic stress among graduate students.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Problem-Focused Coping and Family Communication with Domestic Violence (DV) against women. Problem-Focused Coping involves strategies to address violence through concrete solutions, while Family Communication refers to interactions to share information, express emotions, and resolve conflicts. Using a quantitative correlational method with 347 female DV victims, Spearman correlation analysis revealed significant positive relationships. Problem-focused coping had a correlation coefficient of 0.648 (p<0.05), and family communication had a coefficient of 0.359 (p<0.05), both indicating that higher levels of these variables were associated with increased DV. These findings rejected the hypotheses of negative relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) and future anxiety among Gen Z, considering family support as a mediator. IU is defined as an individual's inability to cope with negative responses arising from a lack of critical information, exacerbated by uncertainty. Future anxiety refers to feelings of fear, worry, and unease about undesirable possibilities, while family support involves attitudes of acceptance and assistance among family members. The study employs a quantitative correlational method with 348 Gen Z respondents in Surabaya as the research subjects. The findings reveal that family support serves as a mediator in the indirect relationship between IU and future anxiety (z = 2.661, p = 0.008). Additionally, a significant direct relationship exists between IU and future anxiety, where higher IU corresponds to greater future anxiety among Gen Z (z = 5.611, p = 0.001). A negative relationship is found between IU and family support, indicating that increased IU reduces family support (z = -2.798, p = 0.005). Meanwhile, family support is significantly associated with reduced future anxiety (z =-8.633, p = 0.001).These findings highlight the crucial role of family support in mitigating the impact of IU on future anxiety, providing valuable insights for interventions aimed at improving the psychological well-being of Gen Z.

Abstract

This study seeks to explore the impact of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy on enhancing communication skills in children with autism. An experimental design involving pre-test and post-test assessments was utilized to measure changes in communication abilities before and after the ABA therapy intervention. Analysis with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test revealed a notable improvement in communication skills among children with autism following the ABA therapy. Descriptive findings indicated that the average communication score at the pre-test was 27.75, while the post-test mean rose to 40.38, demonstrating a gain of 12.63 points. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value of 0.012, which is below the typical significance threshold of 0.05, meaning the null hypothesis (Hâ‚€), which suggests no difference between pre-test and post-test, can be rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that ABA therapy has a significant positive impact on improving communication abilities in children with autism. Despite these encouraging results, the study's sample size is a limitation, and further research with larger samples and extended follow-up periods is required to deepen our understanding of ABA therapy's long-term effects.
