Abstract

Fingerprint identification is an important biometric method used in criminal investigations. However, at the Identification Unit of the Bali Regional Police, the minutiae extraction process is still done manually. This causes limitations in accuracy, processing speed, and dependence on the skills of the officers. This study develops an automatic minutiae detection system based on MinutiaeNet. The system is equipped with a graphical user interface and an SQLite database to store extraction results, using a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The system was tested on 55 fingerprint images, including plain and latent fingerprints. The results show that the system performs well, with an average Precision of 0.83, Recall of 0.88, and F1-Score of 0.85. The system works stably on plain fingerprints with clear ridge patterns but shows lower performance on latent fingerprints due to thin, incomplete ridges and noise, which increases False Negative results. Although over- detection occurs in some cases, the system still provides consistent results and significantly reduces processing time. The maximum processing time is about 1 minute and 3 seconds per image, which is much faster than manual minutiae extraction. This study shows that the proposed system can support forensic identification by improving efficiency and consistency in fingerprint analysis.

Abstract

Computational resource limitations, particularly the use of CPU-based systems without GPU acceleration, require super-resolution models that can achieve a balance between reconstruction quality and computational efficiency. This study proposes a lightweight hybrid super-resolution model designed for resource-constrained computing environments. The proposed architecture integrates lightweight feature extraction, residual learning, and an efficient image reconstruction module to enhance image resolution while maintaining low computational complexity. Model performance is evaluated using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM), computation time, CPU utilization, and memory consumption under different scaling factors. Experimental results show that the proposed model achieves competitive reconstruction performance while maintaining computational efficiency compared with several lightweight benchmark models. These findings indicate that the proposed hybrid architecture is suitable for deployment in resource-limited computing environments. Future work may focus on evaluating and optimizing the model on edge computing platforms, including smartphones and embedded systems, to validate its performance under real-world operating conditions.

Abstract

Fuel consumption efficiency is a key indicator in the development of modern vehicles, as it directly affects operating costs and exhaust emissions. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of Electronic Control Unit (ECU) data as predictive parameters for fuel consumption and to develop a regression-based Machine Learning model for predicting vehicle fuel consumption. The dataset consisted of 597 vehicle records, with Engine Size, Cylinders, CO₂ Emissions, and Fuel Type serving as predictor variables, while Combined Fuel Consumption was used as the target variable. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, and model performance was evaluated based on the coefficient of determination (R²), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Standard Error of Estimate (SEE). The results demonstrated that the proposed model achieved excellent predictive performance, with an R value of 0.989, an R² of 0.977, an adjusted R² of 0.977, an SEE of 0.432 L/100 km, an MAE of 0.24 L/100 km, and an RMSE of 0.430 L/100 km. Among the predictor variables, CO₂ Emissions was identified as the most influential factor affecting fuel consumption. These findings indicate that ECU data can provide accurate fuel consumption predictions and have significant potential to support the development of vehicle fuel-efficiency monitoring systems and data-driven decision-making in the automotive industry.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the use of Yasin Water as a spiritual medium from the perspective of Living Qur'an at Rumah Suluk Besilam, Langkat Regency. The practice of using Yasin Water represents a form of community interaction with the Qur'an that has developed and been passed down through generations. The purpose of this study is to explore the foundations of the practice, its implementation process, and the community's understanding of Yasin Water as a spiritual medium. This research employs a qualitative method using the Living Qur'an approach and the theory of Qur'anic reception. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders and members of the Besilam community, as well as documentation and literature studies. The findings reveal that Yasin Water is prepared through the collective recitation of Surah Yasin, Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Insyirah, dhikr, and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (shalawat) over water. The community perceives Yasin Water as a means (wasilah) to obtain blessings, inner peace, protection, and as an effort to seek healing from Allah SWT. From the Living Qur'an perspective, this practice represents a functional reception of the Qur'an, where the Qur'an is not only recited as a ritual act of worship but is also internalized and practiced in the social and religious life of the community. This study concludes that the use of Yasin Water at Rumah Suluk Besilam is a manifestation of Living Qur'an, demonstrating how the Qur'an is lived, understood, and practiced within society as a spiritual medium while maintaining the belief that all benefits and healing ultimately come from Allah SWT.

Abstract

Hybrid learning represents a significant innovation in higher education; however, its implementation continues to face challenges in managing student assignments, primarily due to limited interaction and the suboptimal integration of pedagogical and technological aspects. This condition affects the quality of student engagement and learning outcomes, particularly in Civics (PPKn) education. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of assignment management in hybrid learning and to identify appropriate strategies for its improvement. The method employed is a literature study using a systematic literature review of reputable scientific articles relevant to hybrid learning and learning evaluation. The results indicate that assignment management in hybrid learning remains suboptimal and requires an integrated approach encompassing instructional design, pedagogical strategies, and the effective use of digital technology. Furthermore, the findings reveal that the use of technology without the support of well-designed instructional frameworks tends to be ineffective in enhancing assignment management. This study proposes a conceptual model of hybrid-based assignment management that is both adaptive and inclusive. The implications of this research provide theoretical contributions to the advancement of hybrid learning studies and offer practical recommendations for lecturers to improve the effectiveness of student assignment management.

Abstract

The Catholic Church currently embraces the spirit of synodality as the foundation for the entire community to fulfill its mission. In this spirit, Catholic youth are no longer viewed merely as the next generation but as active pastoral agents playing a vital role in both society and Church ministry. However, the reality at St. Anthony of Padua Station in Pakisaji reveals that youth empowerment does not yet fully reflect this synodal spirit. Guidance provided by Church leaders remains dominated by supervision and control, thereby limiting opportunities for young people to develop creativity, leadership skills, and independence, or to participate in decision-making processes. This situation highlights a gap between the Church's ideal viewing all the faithful as active participants and guidance practices that do not yet fully entrust responsibility to the youth. Consequently, this article aims to analyze the role of Church leaders in realizing synodality through youth empowerment at St. Anthony of Padua Station, Pakisaji, and to propose a more participatory approach to guidance. The study employs a literature review approach complemented by direct observation of the pastoral situation on the ground. The findings indicate that guidance grounded in dialogue, active participation, and youth capacity building can enhance youth engagement in the life of the Church. Therefore, Church leaders need to act as mentors, facilitators, and dialogue partners so that youth empowerment can foster a Church that is increasingly synodal, inclusive, responsible, and relevant to the needs of the faithful.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the differences of cascara flour substitutions at 0% (F0), 5% (F1), and 10% (F2) on the physical quality (color and texture), hedonic preference, fiber content, and moisture content of soft cookies. A experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using the substitution percentage as the independent variable and cookie qualities as the dependent variables. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and non-parametric statistic (Friedman and Wilcoxon tests) involving 40 untrained panelists and laboratory testing. The results showed that lightness (L*) and hardness in all treatments met the standards, while a* and b* values fell below the standard due to intense Maillard reaction. The highest fiber content was obtained at 5% (4,30%). The moisture content of F0 and F2 met the maximum standard for soft cookies (14.5%), while F1 (14.7%) slightly exceeded it. In the hedonic test, the substitution showed no significant differences in color, aroma, taste, and texture parameters, indicating that all products were equally liked by the panelists despite different scores. A significant difference occurred only in the overall parameter, where F1 and F2 were significantly more preferred than the control.
