Abstract

Education in the era of globalization faces increasingly complex challenges, particularly in building student character that is capable of facing social, cultural, and technological dynamics. In Indonesia, education focuses not only on intellectual development but also on the formation of moral and spiritual values. In this context, the application of Hindu literature values is strategically relevant to meet the needs of holistic education. Hindu literature, including sacred texts such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Itihasa, Puranas, and other literary works, teaches universal principles of life such as truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), devotion (bhakti), and moral responsibility (dharma). A verse from the Rg Veda states: सत्यं एव जयते नानृतं ("Satyam eva jayate nanritam", Rg Veda 10.11.11), meaning "Only truth prevails, not falsehood." This verse emphasizes the importance of truth as the foundation of human life. In the context of education, this value aligns with the goal of building a character of honesty and morality in students. The current reality (Das Sein) reveals that Hindu religious education in schools faces fundamental problems. One major issue is the low interest of students in religious studies, as many view the subject as monotonous and irrelevant to daily life. Additionally, studies show that limited teaching materials and methods inhibit the delivery of the noble values contained in Hindu literature. Meanwhile, the ideal state (Das Sollen) calls for a transformation in Hindu religious education. Ideally, this education should integrate Hindu literary values into the curriculum in a systematic, creative, and relevant manner. This approach aims not only to deepen students' understanding of religious teachings but also to build character rooted in spiritual and moral values. In light of current strategic issues, the education system faces global challenges such as moral crises, radicalism, and value shifts due to digital technology. In this situation, the application of Hindu literature values becomes increasingly important as a strong moral foundation for students. Furthermore, Hindu literature, when applied consistently, can serve as a shield against the negative influences of modernization and globalization. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Hindu literary values in Hindu religious education in schools. It seeks to answer fundamental questions such as how these values can be integrated into the curriculum, what challenges are faced in implementation, and what strategies can be employed to improve the effectiveness of value-based learning. This research is expected to provide significant contributions to the development of Hindu religious education in Indonesia and address the strategic challenges currently faced by the education system.

Abstract

Ethical and moral problems among students, such as bullying and weak self-control, indicate that character education has not been optimally internalized in school learning processes. In Hindu teachings, ethics (śīla) and self-control (dama) constitute the fundamental foundations of character formation based on dharma. These values are not only found in sacred texts but are also symbolically embodied in Balinese local wisdom, particularly in the story of Kirtimukha as represented in the Karang Boma ornament. This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning of the Kirtimukha narrative embodied in the Karang Boma ornament, to analyze the ethical values and principles of self-control contained within the story, and to explain their relevance as a foundation for Hindu students’ character education. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research and symbolic analysis. The findings reveal that the Kirtimukha narrative embodies values of obedience to dharma, restraint of desire and anger, subjugation of ego, and moral responsibility. These values are highly relevant for integration into Hindu religious education to foster students who are disciplined, ethical, religious, and capable of self-regulation in their social and moral lives. Abstract

The low availability of innovative learning media based on local wisdom, especially in the material of Hindu religious heritage in Asia, is the main basis for conducting this research. Therefore, this research aims to (1) describe the prototype of the Tri Kaya Parisudha integrated digital comic; (2) test the validity; and (3) measure and describe the practicality of the Tri Kaya Parisudha integrated digital comic in the Hindu religious education subject for high school students in Buleleng Regency. The study design is a Research and Development (R&D) development study that adopts the 4-D development model. Tri Kaya Parisudha's integrated digital comic is the subject while the validity and practicality of the developed media are the objects of research. Data collection was obtained from observation, interview and questionnaire methods. Data processing used qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The following are the results of this research: (1) the prototype of the integrated digital comic Tri Kaya Parisudha's integrated digital comic was developed at the design stage including the activities of compiling the story script, characters, storyboard, making comics on Comic.ai, (2) The results of the validation of digital comics in terms of content suitability obtained a validity coefficient of 0.87 with a very high validity category, the presentation quality aspect obtained a coefficient of 0.88 with a very high validity category and the language suitability obtained a validity coefficient of 0.83 with a very high validity level. (3) The assessment of the practicality of digital comics obtained a score percentage from teacher responses reaching 93% which is included in the very practical level and the score percentage from student responses of 90% is in the very practical category. Abstract

The learning model used in teaching and learning activities must align with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes independent learning and contextual problem-solving. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, identify obstacles and analyze efforts made to overcome them, and assess the impact of PBL implementation on learning quality. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results show that the implementation of the PBL model was carried out through the stages of contextual problem presentation, group discussion, investigation, presentation, and reflection, with the teacher acting as an active facilitator. Obstacles encountered included time constraints, differences in student abilities, and limited learning resources. Efforts made included adjusting schedules, providing group guidance, and procuring additional teaching materials. In general, the implementation of PBL had a positive impact on increasing student engagement, critical thinking skills, collaboration, and strengthening Hindu spiritual values ​​in students' daily lives.

Abstract

Unsur Dukkha Telu merupakan elemen penting yang harus diketahui, dipelajari, dan dipahami oleh umat manusia guna membantu mengelola kesehatan, baik fisik maupun spiritual. Hal ini karena keberadaan penyakit berpotensi mempengaruhi tidak hanya elemen fisik, tetapi juga elemen spiritual. Oleh karena itu, dalam mengatasi berbagai penyakit yang dijelaskan dalam Dukkha Telu, diperlukan solusi terbaik. Penelitian ini merupakan studi tekstualitas, menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pola analisis holistik dan mendalam. Dalam penelitian ini, data yang diperoleh dikumpulkan melalui tinjauan literatur dan pencatatan dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan fenomena Dukkha Telu meliputi: (1) Faktor mental atau gangguan mental (psikosomatik) yang menyebabkan fenomena Adhyatmika Duhka, (2) Kesalahan perilaku pribadi (karma) yang menimbulkan fenomena Adhidaiwika Duhka, dan (3) Faktor Bhuta, seperti kegelapan pikiran, makhluk astral (supernatural), dan hewan mikroskopis yang memicu munculnya Adhibautika Duhka. Solusi yang dapat diambil untuk mengatasi fenomena ini adalah: (1) Mengendalikan pikiran melalui Yoga dan Samadhi, (2) Ibadah rutin (bhakti dan yajna), meminta maaf (guru piduka), melakukan brata upawasa, melukat rutin (pembersihan), dan mempraktikkan ajaran Tri Kaya Parisudha, serta (3) Mengembangkan sikap non-kekerasan (Ahimsa), melakukan pelayanan tanpa pamrih (Karma Yoga), dan membangun hubungan harmonis.

Abstract

Pasraman Penyang Hinje Simpei Kasongan as a Hindu educational institution has an important role in maintaining and disseminating Hindu religious, cultural, and spiritual values ​​to the younger generation. The formation of children's characteristics with good education will create good children or suputra children, education is needed in learning. However, the presence of stunting is a marker of the risk of poor child development for pasraman children. Therefore, stunting prevention education is needed that aims to ensure that Pasraman Penyang Hinje Simpei children can grow and develop optimally and maximally, accompanied by emotional, social, and physical abilities that are ready to learn. This study aims to find and obtain facts, data and descriptions of strategies and efforts made in stunting prevention education through Hindu educational institutions in Kasongan City, Katingan Regency. The method used in this study uses a research method with a qualitative approach. The results of the study found strategies for stunting prevention through Hindu educational institutions as well as stunting prevention education efforts through Hindu educational institutions in Kasongan City, Katingan Regency.

Abstract

The ethnopedagogical approach positions local wisdom as a contextual and meaningful learning resource within the educational process. In the context of Hindu Religious Education in Central Kalimantan, the values of Hindu Kaharingan as a system of religiosity and local wisdom of the Dayak community possess significant potential to be integrated into learning at the elementary school level. However, studies discussing the integration of Hindu Kaharingan values into Hindu Religious Education learning remain limited and have not yet been formulated conceptually and systematically. This article aims to analyze and formulate a conceptual framework for the integration of Hindu Kaharingan ethnopedagogy in Hindu Religious Education learning in elementary schools. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method through the examination of scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant educational policy documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Hindu Kaharingan values which encompass spiritual, cosmological, social, and moral dimensions have strong relevance to the objectives of Hindu Religious Education, particularly in fostering sraddha and bhakti, ecological awareness, and students’ social character. The novelty of this article lies in the formulation of Hindu Kaharingan ethnopedagogy as a conceptual foundation for Hindu Religious Education learning in elementary schools rooted in the religious locality of the Indonesian archipelago. Therefore, Hindu Kaharingan–based ethnopedagogy can serve as a theoretical foundation for the development of contextual and meaningful Hindu Religious Education learning. Abstract

Differentiated learning is an effort to adjust the learning process to meet the learning needs of students based on their interests, learning profiles, and readiness. This study aims to analyze differentiated learning implemented in the subject of Hindu Religious Education and Character Education, describe the process of implementing differentiated learning in the subject of Hindu Religious Education and Character Education, and the implications of differentiated learning on students' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in the subject of Hindu Religious Education and Character Education at Pasraman Purna Lingga Pondok Gede Bekasi, West Java. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach based on constructivism, behaviorism, and social learning theories. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and verification. The results of this study indicate that: (1) differentiated learning is implemented in a structured manner through adjustments to the aspects of context, process, and product according to the level of the students, (2) the learning process is implemented through the stages of opening, core, closing, and evaluation activities, and (3) differentiated learning has positive implications for improving the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of students.
