Abstract

Plants require appropriate nutrients or nutrients for their growth and development. Inappropriate nutrient levelscan interfere with the plant growth process, resulting in less-than-optimal harvest results. Therefore, it is very importantfor farmers to know the nutrient levels of their plants, neither excessive nor lacking. Identification of nutrient deficienciesin plants such as Lettuce (Lactuca Sativa) traditionally requires careful observation of the physical characteristics of theplant, which is often long-drawn out and stand in need of a high level of accuracy. Leaf color is often used as an indication, for example if it is pale or yellow it can indicate a lack of nitrogen or iron. This requires expertise and experience incultivation for lettuce cultivators. So, a tool is needed that can identify nutrient deficiencies accurately, quickly, and easily. This study aims to overcome this challenge, namely identifying nutrient deficiencies in lettuce plants. This approach utilizesmachine learning technology to distinguish four main classes of deficiencies, namely: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), andpotassium (K), as well as normal or healthy lettuce leaf conditions. The proposed research method consists of the followingstages: 1). Lettuce leaf image dataset collection, 2). Preprocessing dataset, 3). Implementation of machine learning usingthe Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. In the implementation of SVM, experiments were carried out by applyingvarious SVM kernel spesifically: Linear, Polynomial, Radial Basis Function (RBF), and Sigmoid, 4). Evaluation of modelperformance. Model performance was evaluated by measuring its level of accuracy in classifying nutrient deficiencies inLettuce leaf image data. The results of the experiment showed that SVM with the RBF kernel had the best accuracy, namely:92%. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of machine learning approaches inclassifying nutrient deficiencies in Lettuce plants. This study can help farmers to optimize their crop production moreefficiently and accurately.

Abstract

Located in Selatbaru Village, about 25 km from the centre of Bengkalis City, Selatbaru beach has become afavourite destination for tourists who want to enjoy the beauty of nature while engaging in outdoor activities. At thatbeach, a stepped-type seawall has been constructed to prevent erosion and make it easier for visitors to enjoy the beach, such as going down to and coming up from the beach. The current situation is during high tide and strong winds, wavesrun up the top of the seawall, causing seawater to surge onto the land. This research will conduct experiments by creatinga prototype based on field survey data and laboratory scale, including the seawall dimensions, water level, and waveheight, with a scale ratio of 1:10. The experimental scenarios to be conducted in the laboratory a. Existing seawall slopeof 1:3 with embankment, b. Changing the seawall slope to 1:5, and c. Changing the seawall slope to 1:5 withembankment. The irregular wave height to be simulated in the laboratory is 0.8 meters. The experiment will be conductedto observe the response of the seawall structure to incoming waves and the over topping occurring on the seawallstructure. The results shows that the alternative of adding an embankment and using a 1:3 seawall slope, has already beenable to reduce over topping volume 40,74 %. For the second scenario, the over topping volume decreased by 77.78 %,while the third scenario reduced over topping by 100 %. The best scenario is the third with slope to 1:5 and added of embankment that will decrease volume overtopping up to 100 %.

Abstract

Red kidney beans are a plant-based food that contains protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals,. Redkidney beans take a long time to cook and have a rough texture. As a result, instant red kidney beans must be developed. Soaking, boiling, and drying are the steps in the production of instant goods. The objective of this research was to determine the physicaland chemical characteristic of soaked-boiled red kidney beans and instant red kidney beans based on soaking and boiling times. The study used a factorial completely randomized block design. The first factor was soaking time, which had three treatments (0hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours). The second factor was cooking time, which had three treatments (0 minutes, 10 minutes, or 20minutes). The study was carried out three times. Data analysis was conducted statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) ata 5% significance level to determine the effect of treatment on test parameters. If the treatment has a significant effect, a furtherDuncan test will be conducted to determine the differences between treatments. The results showed that soaking and boiling affectedthe physical and chemical characteristics of instant red beans. The weight, yield, and hydration capacity of instant red beansincreased with the longer soaking and boiling, and the hardness, density of the kamba, and color intensity of instant red beansdecreased with the longer soaking and boiling. Soaking for 6 hours and boiling for 10 minutes was the optimal time to produceinstant red beans. The physical and chemical characteristics of instant red beans included weight 161.5 g, density of kamba 0.71g/ml, hardness 2.83 cm/kg, hydration capacity 66.67%, water content 8.02%, and soluble protein 6.71%.
