Abstract

This article explores the portrait of tourism entrepreneurship in the context of a super-priority destination. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining a survey of 73 tourism entrepreneurs and an in-depth interview with four entrepreneurs representing the dominant business sectors of food and beverage service, creative business, accommodation, and tourist attraction within the destination. The findings revealed that most businesses were relevant to food and beverage and creative initiatives. They were relatively mature in the tourism business, with the primary motive for the business opportunity being financial benefits. The critical business challenges identified were inadequate marketing prowess, reduction in demand, shortage of human skills and lack of collaboration among stakeholders. In general, the current development of tourism entrepreneurship in this area is in a phase of slight increase. The findings contributed to the enrichment of the literature on tourism entrepreneurship. This study also supported business development, informed policymakers, and promoted sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education has driven the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) as a key element in personalising learning, managing educational institutions, and supporting pedagogical decision-making processes. However, the application of AI also raises ethical challenges, access gaps, and fundamental changes in the role of teachers. This research aims to identify and classify the primary dimensions of human-AI collaboration in education through a qualitative approach, utilising a systematic literature review of 50 scientific articles published over the last five years. The articles were selected based on their thematic relevance from the Google Scholar and Scopus databases and analysed using NVivo software to cluster the dominant codes in the literature. The analysis resulted in four main components: Adaptive Learning with Artificial Intelligence (ALEAI), Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), Ethical Challenges in AI Education (EAIED), and Teacher Roles in AI-assisted learning (TRAIL). The findings indicate that AI has significant potential to enhance the efficiency and inclusivity of learning but also necessitates robust regulations in data protection, algorithm bias mitigation, and teacher training. This research contributes to the formulation of a conceptual framework for developing fair, ethical, and sustainable AI-based education policies.

Abstract

Internal and external factors generally influence athlete achievement. The internal factor that mainly influences the athlete's achievement is motivation. Meanwhile, the external factors are parental support and training attained. The research intended to examine the influence of parental support and training on young athletes' performance in Tanjungpinang. A survey research design was carried out using a questionnaire for data collection. Using purposive sampling, the sample calculation results, with an acceptable margin of error of 0.05, showed 194 confirmed samples from various individual and team sports, ages ranging from 8 to 23. The instrument used for data analysis was SmartPLS (Partial Least Squares) software to confirm theories and forecast relationships between variables. The questionnaire was distributed using Google Forms and shared via WhatsApp. This result indicated that parental support directly and mediated by motivation is ineffective in improving athlete performance, while training has a positive and significant influence both directly and through motivation. This research is limited in scope and is only conducted in Tanjungpinang, with a narrow scope of the research and limitations in the variables studied. The study results provide insight for athletes and coaches. The inclusion of parental involvement in the context of sports performance and suitable training concepts will significantly improve athlete performance. This study simultaneously discusses parental support and training and the mediation of motivation to improve athlete performance.

Abstract

The concept of a creative city has been influential for decades, yet its definition remains elusive, hindering the development of effective strategies for urban revitalization. This study addresses this challenge by reframing the creative city as a complex service system. This perspective emphasizes the intricate interplay between diverse actors, resources, and processes that contribute to the city's cultural and economic vibrancy. Focusing on Bandung, Indonesia, the research utilizes a cultural mode of production model to assess the city's cultural assets. This framework considers the interconnectedness of cultural production, consumption, and distribution, recognizing the crucial role of both formal and informal networks. Employing a mixed-methods approach that combines in-depth interviews with netnography analysis, the study aims to develop a nuanced understanding of Bandung's creative ecosystem, propose a framework for assessing the "culture" variable, and identify key actors and their roles within the service system. Apart from that, this research contributes to the existing literature by providing a more robust and nuanced understanding of the creative city concept, offering a valuable framework for practitioners and policymakers seeking to foster sustainable urban development. Consequently, this study of Bandung empirically developed a framework for assessing the city's cultural assets by mapping the links between cultural production, consumption, and distribution and identifying key actors within both formal and informal networks. This framework offers a valuable tool for policymakers and practitioners.

Abstract

This study aims to give recommendations on smelter project selection based on three alternatives: the Alumina Processing Plant, the Pig Iron Processing Plant, and MHP HPAL Nickel Plant by using a hybrid decision-making method Fuzzy AHP and Hybrid TOPSIS. The method integrates both qualitative expert judgments and quantitative data to ensure objectivity of analysis. Expert input was collected through structured interviews and questionnaires, capturing a diverse range of perspectives from technical, operational, and management roles. The Pairwise Comparison questionnaire data are analyzed using Fuzzy AHP to calculate the weights of these criteria, addressing the ambiguity in human judgment through triangular fuzzy numbers. These fuzzy weights were then combined with quantitative performance data for each project using Hybrid TOPSIS, ensuring the final ranking accounted for both qualitative and quantitative factors. The results showed that the Alumina Project achieved the highest closeness coefficient of 0.6, making it the most feasible and strategic project for immediate development. The Pig Iron Project ranked second, reflecting its stable production capacity and technical maturity, though it faces challenges from environmental impacts and a limited domestic market for pig iron. The MHP Nickel Project ranked third due to its complex environmental footprint, high capital intensity, and current market volatility, despite its relevance to the EV battery sector.

Abstract

This study investigates the extent to which employees’ perceptions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) shape their level of work engagement, positioning organizational commitment as an intervening mechanism. The analysis draws on the case of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol in Indonesia. Grounded in the growing academic discourse on internal CSR implications, this research employs a quantitative methodology involving a saturated sample of 161 employees. It utilizes Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for statistical evaluation. The findings reveal that employees’ perceptions of CSR have a positive and statistically significant effect on both organizational commitment and work engagement. Moreover, organizational commitment emerges as a key mediating construct that links CSR perception to employee engagement. These insights clarify the psychological mechanisms through which CSR initiatives impact employee attitudes, highlighting organizational commitment as a critical pathway to enhanced engagement. Ultimately, this study contributes to the literature on organizational behavior by presenting empirical evidence that reinforces the strategic relevance of internal CSR in fostering a committed and engaged workforce, particularly in the context of public infrastructure organizations.

Abstract

In response to growing consumer awareness of halal products and increasingly competitive markets, halal certification has emerged as a vital strategy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to enhance competitiveness and expand market access, particularly in countries with a predominantly Muslim population, such as Indonesia. This study aims to explore in-depth how the implementation of halal certification contributes to the development of micro businesses by focusing on a case study of Dapur Reunion, an MSME operating in Medan City, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach and case study strategy, this research investigates processes, strategies, and impacts of halal certification through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving business actors and their operational environments. The interviews were conducted with five respondents, including Dapur Reuni business actors and loyal consumers who consistently purchase products from Dapur Reuni MSMEs in Medan City. The findings reveal that halal certification plays a significant role in building consumer trust, strengthening brand image, widening market reach, and promoting innovation and operational efficiency. Additionally, the certification process encourages business owners to implement more structured production standards and maintain sustainability through consistent internal monitoring. The primary contribution of this study lies in providing empirical evidence on post-certification strategic dynamics from the perspective of MSME actors, which remains underexplored in existing literature. These findings are expected to serve as a practical reference for other MSMEs and inform policymakers and support institutions in developing a more inclusive and sustainable halal certification ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of rewards, work–life balance, and coworker support on employee job satisfaction. Employing a quantitative design with independent samples t tests, the research population comprised all employees of Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat in 2025 (150 persons), with a purposive sampling technique based on percentage to select respondents. So, the pilot sample is 37 persons, and the research sample is 113 persons. A structured questionnaire was used to measure the variables of recognition, work–life balance, coworker support, and job satisfaction, and data were analyzed using SPSS. The findings reveal that rewards, work–life balance, and coworker support significantly influence job satisfaction (t-calculated > t-critical; 21.849, 14.508, 21.991 > 1.66). Rewards also impact work–life balance, which in turn affects coworker support, although they do not directly influence it. Implications of this research suggest that implementing a structured reward system can be an effective strategy to enhance job satisfaction in vocational education settings. Future studies are advised to employ mixed methods designs and broaden the sample to multiple institutions to verify and generalize these results. It is recommended that the management of Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat develop and implement integrated reward programs and flexible work policies to optimize employee well-being and productivity.
