Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum (Independent Curriculum) emerges as a strategic response to the need for a more adaptive and learner-centered transformation of Indonesia’s national education system. At the senior high school level, this policy requires institutional readiness, competent educators, and well-aligned supporting regulations. This study aims to analyze the implementation, benefits, challenges, and policy directions underlying the adoption of the Merdeka Curriculum in senior high schools. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected from academic literature, official reports issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, as well as findings from relevant previous studies. The analysis explored the interrelation between policy design, classroom implementation, and its impact on the quality of learning in senior high schools. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is being carried out gradually, depending on the readiness of human resources and school infrastructure. The curriculum offers teachers greater flexibility in designing contextual learning while promoting collaboration among schools, parents, and the community. Nonetheless, several challenges remain, including disparities in school readiness, limited pedagogical and digital competencies among teachers, and the need for continuous evaluation of policy effectiveness. The Merdeka Curriculum has shown positive impacts on post-pandemic learning recovery and the strengthening of students’ Pancasila character values. Its success largely depends on coherent policies, improved teacher competencies, and systemic support from multiple stakeholders. The implication is that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum should be accompanied by the continuous capacity building of schools and teachers to ensure a sustainable learning movement that remains relevant to the dynamics of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study focuses on the implementation of the cooperative learning model at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Samarinda and its impact on enhancing students' motivation and engagement in learning. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative approaches (mix method). Quantitatively, data were collected through measurements of students' motivation and engagement before and after the application of the cooperative learning model. The statistical analyses included descriptive tests, correlation tests, and regression analysis. Qualitatively, interviews with the school principal, teachers, and students, as well as classroom observations, were conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of cooperative learning. The results of the study indicate that the cooperative learning model significantly contributes to students' motivation and engagement. Correlation test results show a strong positive relationship between motivation and student engagement (r = 0.68, p < 0.01), while regression analysis indicates that motivation contributes 46% to the increase in student engagement. The qualitative approach supports these findings, revealing that social interactions within cooperative groups enhance students' sense of responsibility, active participation, and confidence in expressing their opinions. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers increase the use of the cooperative learning model in daily lessons, particularly in subjects that require interaction and collaboration. Teachers should also be trained to manage group dynamics effectively, ensuring that this model is implemented inclusively, allowing all students to actively participate in the learning process.

Abstract

Religious radicalism remains a significant challenge for Islamic education institutions, including pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). This study explores the de-radicalization strategies employed by Pesantren Al-Mujahidin in Samarinda to prevent radical ideologies among santri (students). A qualitative approach with a case study design was adopted. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and were subsequently analyzed thematically. The findings reveal three key strategies: (1) the internalization of national values through the Tausiah Kebangsaan (national sermon) program, (2) the reinforcement of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) ideology to foster a moderate and inclusive religious mindset, and (3) the preservation of Nusantara Islamic traditions as a culturally rooted approach. These efforts are reinforced by the leadership of the kiai (Islamic clerics), the continuity of religious traditions, and the availability of educational infrastructure. However, the pesantren faces several challenges, including limited human resources, the lack of integration between the de-radicalization efforts and the formal curriculum, and resistance from external actors. The study suggests that pesantren possess strategic potential as agents of culture-based de-radicalization. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance institutional capacity, improve the competencies of religious educators, and develop pesantren-based nationalism modules as part of broader national Islamic education policies.

Abstract

This article examines the application of Qur'anic principles in Islamic education supervision to improve the quality of education. Using a qualitative approach and conceptual analysis, this study focuses on identifying Qur'anic principles relevant to educational supervision, namely mas’ūliyyah (responsibility), amānah (trust), iḥsān (continuous improvement), syūrā (deliberation and collaboration), and taqwīm (evaluation). The literature selection process was based on the criteria of relevance, validity, credibility, and novelty of the sources. Data were collected through identification, selection, and review of relevant literature, followed by qualitative descriptive analysis through stages of Identification of Qur'anic Verses, Interpretation of Verses, Contextual Analysis, and Thematic Synthesis. The results show that these Qur'anic principles have both relevance and practical application in the context of Islamic education, in terms of both moral development and the enhancement of teacher competencies. Implementing these Qur'anic principles in educational supervision improves academic performance and fosters an academic culture based on moral and spiritual values. This study also demonstrates that synthesizing Qur'anic principles with modern educational theories contributes to the development of a transformative and collaborative supervision model aimed at enhancing educational quality.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the Management Information System (MIS) in quality assurance of education financing at Dayah Madinatuddiniyah Jabal Nur Paloh Lada. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data obtained was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of SIM through the Finanza application has succeeded in improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability in pesantren financial management. Nonetheless, challenges faced include limited trained human resources, limited technological infrastructure, resistance to change, as well as difficulties in customizing the system to the specific needs of the pesantren. The recommendation of this study is the need for increased HR training, strengthening technological infrastructure, and managing change to overcome these obstacles, so that SIM can make a greater contribution to improving the quality of education and financial management of pesantren.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive and context-sensitive budgeting model for Islamic boarding schools, which are characterized by complex educational, religious, and socio-cultural activities extending beyond formal classroom instruction. Recognizing the limitations of conventional budgeting approaches, this research adopts a qualitative methodology using a multiple-case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with leaders and managerial staff of selected Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia to explore budgeting practices, decision-making processes, and stakeholder involvement. The findings reveal that effective budgeting in Islamic boarding schools requires the integration of performance-based budgeting principles, transparency, and active participation of key stakeholders. Performance indicators aligned with institutional goals were found to enhance accountability and managerial effectiveness, while stakeholder engagement strengthened governance structures and institutional commitment. This study concludes that an integrated performance-based and participatory budgeting model offers a more effective and governance-oriented framework for improving institutional performance and financial accountability in Islamic boarding schools. The proposed model provides practical implications for policymakers and educational managers seeking to strengthen financial management in faith-based educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Murattal Al-Quran Indonesia media in tahfidz learning at the Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT) Muhammadiyah Bireuen. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach, which allows researchers to explore the direct experiences of teachers, students, and principals. The research was conducted at SDIT Muhammadiyah Bireuen, which has a superior program of tahfidz Al-Qur'an by using Murattal media as a learning tool. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that Murattal media is effective in supporting tahfidz learning, as evidenced by the increase in students' memorization achievements, both in quantity and quality, especially in the aspects of tajweed and fluency. This media attracts students' attention and facilitates the memorization process through distinctive rhythms and voice clarity. The constraints faced, such as disruption of student concentration and teacher time constraints, require further attention to improve learning effectiveness. Recommendations from this study include providing training for tahfidz teachers, optimizing time management, and developing features on the Murattal application. Further research is also recommended to explore other digital innovations in tahfidz learning and their impact on students. The findings are expected to make a positive contribution to the development of Qur'an learning methods in Islamic schools.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies teachers (asātiżah) employed in fostering the worship independence of santri at Pesantren Modern Misbahul Ulum (PMMU). This study aims to analyze the approaches teachers use to enhance santri's worship independence and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, utilizing non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation within the pesantren environment. The findings reveal that although PMMU faced various challenges, such as the diverse family backgrounds of the santri and difficulties in enforcing discipline, it successfully designed an effective coaching model. This model includes regulating worship schedules, promoting worship habituation, exemplifying teacher behavior, involving student organizations, and maintaining continuous supervision. Additionally, the application of a reward-and-punishment approach and an adaptation program for santri from different backgrounds proved effective in fostering greater adaptability and consistency in worship practices. Strategies such as grouping students based on age and ability, alongside a humanistic approach to discipline, significantly contributed to the development of santri's worship independence. This study recommends the integration of simple technological tools to support worship guidance and strengthen collaboration between teachers and parents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of leadership in conflict management at Pesantren Darul Ihsan Teluk Lerong Ilir, Samarinda and its impact on the educational environment. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, where data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the pesantren leader holds a key role in resolving conflicts through the principles of consultation (syura) and open dialogue based on Islamic values. The application of consultation is evident in resolving various types of conflicts, including interpersonal conflicts among students, group conflicts, and structural conflicts between administrators and educators. By utilizing an approach grounded in Islamic ethics, these conflicts are resolved effectively, creating a more harmonious learning environment, strengthening unity, enhancing discipline, and fostering a work ethic among students and educators. Additionally, the study found that well-managed conflicts can serve as a means for character development, reinforcing integrity and social responsibility in students. In conclusion, Islamic values-based and responsive pesantren leadership plays a significant role in establishing a conducive and sustainable learning atmosphere. This article is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic leadership theory in conflict management within Islamic educational environments.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply understand the role of optimizing PR management in building public interest in Ummul Qura Modern Islamic Boarding School in Bireuen Regency. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, this study involved informants selected by purposive sampling, including principals, teachers, and PR staff, who have knowledge and experience related to PR program management in pesantren. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, which were then thematically analysed to find relevant patterns. The results showed that the optimization of PR management at Ummul Qura Modern Islamic Boarding School succeeded in increasing public interest through the implementation of effective communication strategies and the use of digital media. The active involvement of the community in pesantren activities, as well as data-based evaluation of PR programs, also contribute to the positive image of the institution. The increase in the number of students from 180 to 222 in the last two years is an indicator of the success of the strategy implemented. Based on these findings, this study recommends that Ummul Qura Modern Pesantren continue to develop training for PR staff in the use of technology and digital media. In addition, it is important to strengthen community involvement in social activities and implement continuous evaluation to improve the effectiveness of PR programs. Thus, the pesantren can continue to adapt to local needs and strengthen its position as a relevant and responsive educational institution in the modern era.
