Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of Android-based learning media on improving the competence of reading external micrometer screw scales at SMK Negeri 1 Karangdadap, Pekalongan Regency. This study used a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design in two eleventh grade classes of Light Vehicle Engineering. Data were collected through cognitive tests. Media analysis used the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Percent Agreement (PA). Statistical analysis of student learning outcomes used a two-tailed t-test to test pre-test results, while to test post-test results used descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, right-tailed t-test, and N-Gain. The pre-test results showed that the two groups' results did not differ, indicating that their initial abilities were similar. The right-tailed t-test results indicated an increase in learning outcomes after using Android-based learning media. The magnitude of the increase was measured using N-Gain, with the experimental group achieving an N-Gain of 55.49% (moderate) and the control group achieving 22.04% (low). Based on the results of this study, the recommendation that learning using Android-based media is effective in improving learning outcomes.

Abstract

The use of Honda Beat motorcycles in 2016 is still quite dominant among two-wheeled vehicle users. One of the efforts to improve vehicle performance is done by replacing standard spark plugs with racing spark plugs, installing groundstraps on coil cables, and modifying the ECU remap using the Juken 5 ECU with a limiter increased to 10,000 RPM. Groundstraps play a role in stabilizing the flow of electric current in the vehicle's electrical system, so that it can increase ignition efficiency and produce stronger and more consistent sparks on the spark plugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect on the performance of Honda Beat FI motorcycles that use racing spark plugs, groundstraps on coil cables and ECU remaps. This study needs to be done, so that motorcycle users can improve vehicle performance by adding groundstraps to the high-voltage coil cables. This study uses an experimental method. Dynotest is used to determine the resulting performance. The first step taken, testing, tuning and continued testing. The results showed that standard conditions produce a torque of 6.97 N.m and a power of 6.3 HP; The condition without a groundstrap produces 6.98 N.m of torque and 6.9 HP of power; while the condition with a groundstrap produces 6.99 N.m of torque and 6.4 HP of power. The torque generated by testing using a groundstrap increased compared to standard conditions, and power output also increased. Therefore, the use of a groundstrap and ECU remap affects the motorcycle's torque and power performance. Torque is essential for acceleration and climbing, while power influences top speed.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of variety in learning models implemented at SMPN 45 Samarinda, which causes students to tend to be passive and lack creative thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model with a Design Thinking approach on the creative thinking skills of seventh-grade students. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: VIIA as the experimental class and VIIB as the control class, each with 25 students. The research instrument was a pre-test and post-test essay test based on creative thinking indicators. Data analysis used an Independent Sample t-Test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the calculated t value (20.545) > t table (1.677), so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, the implementation of the Design Thinking-based PjBL model had a significant effect on improving students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using video tutorial media in improving student learning outcomes on the material of welding machine parts functions at SMK IPT Karangpanas, Semarang. The research method used was a true experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 44 students of class X Machining Engineering who were randomly divided into an experimental group of 22 students and a control group of 22 students. The data collection instrument used was a multiple-choice objective test given before and after treatment. The experimental group received learning using video tutorials, while the control group followed conventional learning. The results of the independent sample t-test on the post-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.001), with an average score of 85.23 for the experimental group and 68.86 for the control group. The normality and homogeneity tests met the requirements of parametric analysis. The results of the N-Gain analysis showed a high increase in the experimental group (0.7670) and a moderate increase in the control group (0.4741). These findings indicate that video tutorials are effective in improving students' conceptual understanding and technical skills and are suitable for use as an alternative learning strategy in vocational education.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) analyze the feasibility of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts; 2) test the effectiveness of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts; and 3) analyze the improvement in student learning outcomes after the application of PowerPoint multimedia on the topic of lathe machine parts. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design pattern experimental method. The data collection technique in this study used a test. Post-test data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, right-tailed t-test, and N-Gain test. The results of the validity and reliability tests indicate that the developed multimedia is suitable for use in learning. Based on the results of the t-test, the t-value obtained was 10.013, greater than the t-table of 1.699, indicating a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. The average post-test score of the experimental class reached 80.00 (78%) with a high category, and the N-Gain analysis showed a greater improvement in learning outcomes compared to the control group.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical feasibility of toner preparations from Chinese betel leaf extract (Peperomia pellucida) with variations of polysorbate 20 surfactants through organoleptic tests. Toner is a form of liquid cosmetic preparation used to cleanse, refresh, and balance the pH of the skin. Chinese betel leaf extract contains active compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins that function as antibacterials and anti-inflammatory agents. Polysorbate 20 is used as a nonionic surfactant that plays a role in maintaining the clarity and stability of the solution. This study used an experimental method with a quantitative approach. Three toner formulations were prepared, namely F1 (without extract and containing 5 mL of polysorbate 20), F2 (5 grams of extract and 5.5 mL of polysorbate 20), and F3 (7.5 grams of extract and 6 mL of polysorbate 20). Organoleptic tests were carried out by expert panelists (two beauty lecturers and one doctor) based on color, aroma, and texture parameters. The test results showed that F1 had a clear color and was odorless, while F2 and F3 had a brownish green color and a distinctive aroma of Chinese betel leaves. All three formulations had a liquid texture. The highest organoleptic test score was obtained by F3 (83.33) which indicated that the formulation with the highest concentration of extract and surfactant provided the best visual and sensory impression. The conclusion of this study indicated that F3 was the most physically feasible formulation based on organoleptic evaluation. This study contributes to the development of local herbal cosmetics that are stable and sensorially preferred.

Abstract

Learning assembly techniques in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) subjects in Vocational High Schools (SMK) requires media that supports interactive visualization to facilitate understanding of complex technical concepts. The limitations of conventional media in bridging this need encourages innovation in the use of learning technology. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of flipbook-based media in improving students' understanding of assembly engineering material. The method used was a quasi-experimental with a two-group pretest-posttest design, involving 40 eleventh-grade students of Mechanical Engineering at SMK Negeri 5 Semarang. The experimental group used flipbooks as a learning medium, while the control group received conventional learning. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group based on posttest scores (p < 0.05) and an N-Gain value of 64.15%, compared to the control group, which only achieved 43.27%. Thus, flipbooks proved effective in improving students' understanding of assembly engineering material in a more flexible, engaging, and contextual way.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity of guided inquiry-based interactive learning media in improving students' Science Process Skills (SPS). The research used a research and development (R&D) approach with a 4D development model, encompassing the stages of definition, design, development, and dissemination, but limited to the development stage. Data were collected using a validation sheet covering aspects of content/material, systematics, language, graphics, and science process skills. This was conducted by expert validators, namely two lecturers from the Department of Biology Education. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques using validity formulas and criteria for interpreting product validity scores. The results showed that the overall average validation test result for the interactive learning media obtained a score of 89%, indicating a very valid category. Therefore, the validity of the guided inquiry-based interactive learning media has reached product validity and can be developed into the dissemination stage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the significant effect of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model on students' self-efficacy and learning outcomes, and to determine the correlation between self-efficacy and learning outcomes at SMA Swasta Cerdas Murni. The research sample was taken using a cluster sampling technique, namely class XI IPA 3 as the experimental class and XI IPA 1 as the control class. The instruments used were objective tests to measure learning outcomes and non-test questionnaires to measure self-efficacy. Data analysis was carried out through normality, homogeneity, linearity tests, and hypothesis tests using independent sample t-tests and correlation tests. The results showed that the average self-efficacy and student learning outcomes increased significantly after learning. The N-Gain value of self-efficacy in the experimental group was 0.5486 while the learning outcomes were 0.8212, both of which were higher than the control group. For learning outcomes, the N-Gain value of the experimental class (0.8212) was also higher than the control class (0.7515). The t-test results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of self-efficacy and student learning outcomes (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between self-efficacy and learning outcomes (p = 0.001). Thus, TSTS-based learning has been proven effective in improving student self-efficacy and learning outcomes, and there is a strong positive relationship between the two variables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of agroscience-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) on junior high school students' scientific argumentation skills on ecology and biodiversity. The main problem raised is the low scientific argumentation skills of students, which impacts on suboptimal critical thinking skills and the delivery of opinions based on scientific evidence. The research method used was a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design, involving two classes, namely the experimental class using agroscience-based LKPD, and the control class using conventional LKPD. The research instrument was a pre-test and post-test essay test that measured three indicators of scientific argumentation, namely claim, evidence, and justification. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The average N-Gain of the experimental class was 0.73 (high category), while the control class was 0.44 (medium category). The largest increase occurred in the justification indicator in the experimental class. The conclusion of this study is that the use of agroscience-based student worksheets (LKPD) is effective in improving students' scientific argumentation skills, particularly in developing logical and evidence-based scientific justifications. It can also serve as an alternative, innovative teaching material to improve the quality of science learning in schools.
