Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the students' perceptions in using the Mobile-Assisted Language Learning in university context. To collect the data, this survey research used online questionnaire adapted from Habiebie (2021), then analyzed descriptively. The participants of this study are 36 students from English Study Department of Islamic university of Indragiri. They are in second and fourth semester and selected using simple random sampling. The questionnaires were distributed using Google form. The result shows that 35.06% strongly agree, 47.88 agree, 13.01 neutral, only 1.88 disagree and 2.23 strongly disagree about the statements. It means most of the students have positive perception in using Mobile-Assisted Language Learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara variable dengan variable lainnya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswi putri di SMAN Dharma Pendidikan Kecamatan Kempas yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bolavoli yang berjumlah 18 orang siswi. Sedangkan pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik total sampling yang berjumlah 18 orang. Untuk mendapatkan data penelitian dilakukan tes dan pengukuran,yaitu tes vertical jump), Tes lempar bola tangkap untuk mengukur koordinasi mata tangan dan melakukan tes hasil smash bolavoli. Dari analis data penelitian diperoleh koefesien korelasi Rx1-y yaitu rhitung = 0,54>rtabel = 0,497dan thitung (2,57) > ttabel (2,1199), sedangkanRx2-y yaitu rhitung = 0,78> rtabel = 0,497 dan thitung (4,95) > ttabel (2,1199), sedangkan Rx1.x2-y yaitu rhitung = 0,91> rtabel = 0,497 dan thitung (8,66) > ttabel (2,1199). Sedangkan untuk korelasi ganda Rhitung = 0,90> Rtabel = 0,497 (hipotesis penelitian diterima) dan pengujian signifikasi korelasi (Distribusit) menunjukkan Fhitung (8,25)> Ftabel (2,1199) maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima (signifikan), dan dimana hasil uji f 0,56, dengan nilai r yaitu 0,90. Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh kesimpulan yaitu terdapat Hubungan yang signifikan antara daya ledak otot tungkai dan koordinasi mata tangan secara bersama-sama dengan hasil smash dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bolavoli siswi SMAN Dharma Pendidikan Kecamatan Kempas Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, dan memiliki interpretasi data dengan kategori sangat kuat.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze text structure, social cognition, and social context on the online news portals Tempo.co, Detik.news, and Kompas.tv regarding cases of bullying against Islamic boarding school students in Kediri. The data source for this research comes from an online news page about cases of bullying against Islamic boarding school students in Kediri. This research uses a qualitative approach using content analysis methods. The data collection technique used is documentation, listening and taking notes. Data analysis techniques include data editing, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the three online news portals have the same theme and topic, namely informing about cases of student bullying committed by fellow students in Kediri. These three news items have fulfilled Teun A. Van Dijk's discourse analysis model, namely (1) macro structure; (2) superstructure, and (3) microstructure. Based on critical discourse analysis of news on the online news portals Tempo.co, Detik.news, and Kompas.tv, it can be concluded that the three news items meet the level of critical analysis of Teun A. Van Dijk's model (1) text structure; (2) social cognition; and (3) social context.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the use of the website by the Institute for the Study and Development of Malay Culture in Yogyakarta in developing and preserving Malay culture and what factors support and hinder the method. The type of research conducted is qualitative research, namely research that is systematic, directed and accountable, so that it does not lose its scientific nature. Data collection techniques used are observation, document review, and interviews. The results showed that the use of the website as an effort to develop and preserve Malay culture had a significant positive impact. The information submitted on the website is in detail so that this is evidence of a comprehensive, systematic and accurate value because the use of the website is supported by a large capacity in delivering messages. In addition, offline activities are also a supporting factor so that websites are easily recognized. While the inhibiting factor is that the budget owned by the Malay Cultural Studies and Development Center as a private institution is not comparable to the high operational costs, especially the website and this also has an impact on the lack of Human Resources as managers. In addition, Mahyudin Al-Mudra's health is declining as the head of the institution.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang tradisi A’pare-pare yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Polombangkeng Selatan, Kabupaten Takalar, yang memiliki kesamaan dengan tradisi ngasak padi yang dilakukan oleh petani Jawa. Sama halnya dengan ngasak padi, A’pare-pare merupakan kegiatan mengumpulkan sisa-sisa padi hasil penen yang dilakukan dilahan milik orang lain. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan data kualitatif. Data diperoleh dengan cara melakukan pengamatan, wawancara terhadap informan dan mengumpulkan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa alasan masyarakat Polombangkeng Selatan melakukan A’pare-pare ini bisa dipetakan menjadi dua. Pertama adalah alasan yang menggunakan persfektif agama, bahwa tidak boleh membuang-buang sesuatu yang masih bisa dimanfaatkan atau menghindari perilaku mubazir, dan yang kedua adalah untuk membantu pemenuhan kebutuhan sehari-hari terkait dengan kebutuhan pangan. Hadirnya tradisi A’pare-pare ini juga berfungsi sebagai salah satu jaringan pengaman sosial bagi masyarakat di Polombangkeng Selatan, Kabupaten Takalar.

Abstract

Populism has become a significant global political phenomenon in an increasingly connected digital age. The study explores the dynamics of populism in social media and its influence on public political thinking. We used analytical methods to explore how social media platforms strengthen populist narratives and influence public political perceptions and studies. Through literature analysis and library studies, we found that populist leaders can use social media as an effective way to convey their message directly to the wider masses. It gives them an opportunity to strengthen their identities, emphasize controversial issues, and gain emotional support. However, the negative consequence of this phenomenon is the spread of false or false information, which can increase political polarization and social fragmentation. We stress the importance of gaining a better understanding of the mechanisms that drive change in public opinion in the digital world as well as the elements that trigger populism. With this understanding, more effective strategies could be developed to control the negative effects of populism on social media and encourage critical thinking as well as constructive conversations among communities.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a transformative learning model based on Pancasila ethics to increase student’s engagement in the learning process. The method of study conducted research and development (R&D) methods by researchers. The detail of discusses were mostly conducted for the development of transformative learning model was done by considering the ethical values of Pancasila in every aspect. This approach aimed to encourage students about they did not only acquire knowledge, but also to increase of understanding for the moral values instilled in Pancasila, such as gotong royong, justice, and unity. In addition, this model emphasized on students' active participation in learning, strengthening their critical and analytical thinking skills. The results showed that the transformative model based on Pancasila ethics had the potential to increase student engagement in the learning process. In Pancasila ethics-based learning, there were social impacts, namely learning motivation, active participation, and problem-solving ability. The implication of this research was that the integration of Pancasila values in learning did not only improve academic achievement, but also shaped student’s character in accordance with the nation's values. Thus, this learning model could be a strong foundation in improving the quality of education and advancing the nation's character development. This research made an important contribution in the context of education development in Indonesia by showing that the integration of Pancasila ethical values in the learning model could be a strong foundation for improving student’s engagement in the learning process and shaping their character in accordance with the nation's values.

Abstract

Critical thinking has been a serious problem for college English Education students in Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka as they were required to critically write a research report for their final project. In order to know their critical thinking ability related to gender, this study described critical thinking among male students and female students. For that purpose, 6 college students (3 male and 3 female) of semester VI have been selected to participate this research by answering a Critical Thinking Mindset Self–Rating Form proposed by Facione and Facione (2014, p. 14) which consisted of 20 ‘yes or no’ questions to measure the students’ level of critical thinking. The finding indicated the disposition of college students both male and female toward critical thinking was considerably different.

Abstract

The main aim of this research is to study and research the thoughts of reformer figures such as Mahmud Yunus. In this research the author focuses on the Arabic language learning approach used by Mahmud Yunus. This research is important because apart from Mahmud Yunus being a pioneer, he also laid the foundation for the Arabic language learning approach in Indonesia. The research method is completely carried out in the form of library research with the data analysis technique used is content analysis. The research results show that in teaching Arabic, Mahmud Yunus in his thinking applies three approaches, namely: a) rational approach, b) practical approach, and c) emotional approach. A rational approach is applied by emphasizing the depth of the material to bring students to critical thinking so that students can use their ratios as fully as possible. A practical approach is applied by placing emphasis on developing as much as possible the student's skills. So that apart from being critical and intelligent, students can also apply their knowledge to society. The emotional approach is applied by emphasizing how teachers are able to instill morals in students by providing good role models.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of gadget use on elementary school children's emotional and social development through a comprehensive literature review. This study covers Scopus-indexed literature from 2019 to 2023, It focuses on how children's usage of gadgets affects their cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social-emotional development. The findings of the study demonstrate that attention span issues can result from excessive gadget use, sleep problems, and decreased physical activity, hindering children's emotional and social development. Children who frequently use gadgets tend to have lower social skills and are less sensitive to the environment around them. Although technology improves language skills and access to educational information, its negative impacts cannot be ignored. Therefore, parents and educators must monitor and limit children's screen time. This study recommends screen time limits based on the child's age: For kids ages 0 to 2, there should be no screen time; for kids ages 3 to 8, there should be less than 60 minutes per day; and for kids ages 6 to 8, there should be no more than 60 minutes per day. Technology use can be maximized without jeopardizing critical areas of a child's development when it is supervised properly.
