Abstract

This study explores the multifaceted challenges faced by community radio stations in Indonesia as they navigate the digital era. Employing a qualitative-descriptive methodology, the research combines literature review, field observations, informal interviews, and online content analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of the socio-technical and institutional dynamics affecting community radios. Findings reveal persistent inequalities in digital infrastructure and access, particularly between urban and rural areas, which hinder digital adoption and audience expansion. Institutional fragility, ambiguous regulatory frameworks, and governance constraints further limit sustainability and adaptability. Moreover, community radios confront tensions between their participatory communication ideals and the pressures imposed by digital platforms driven by algorithms and commercial metrics. Despite these obstacles, innovative hybrid broadcasting models integrating analog and digital technologies emerge as promising pathways for survival and relevance. However, the success of such models depends on capacity building, supportive policies, and collaborative networks. The study concludes that sustaining community radio’s democratic and cultural mission in the digital age requires harmonizing technological adaptation with reaffirmed participatory values and inclusive policy frameworks. Recommendations highlight the need for equitable infrastructure development, targeted digital literacy training, policy reform, and fostering innovation through multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the preferences of the Medan City community in choosing sharia insurance by considering various factors, such as the level of religiosity, financial literacy, service quality, and socio-economic aspects. This study uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method with five respondents from various professional and social backgrounds. The results of the study show that the community's understanding of sharia insurance is still diverse. Some people understand the concept of mutual cooperation (ta'awun), but many still have doubts regarding the transparency of fund management and the real benefits provided. The religiosity factor plays an important role in community decisions, but the low level of financial literacy is the main obstacle in understanding the benefits of sharia insurance. In addition, the affordability of premiums, ease of the claim process, and innovation in marketing also influence community preferences. The main challenges in increasing community participation include lack of education and socialization, negative stigma towards insurance, and the assumption that sharia insurance claims are more complicated than conventional insurance. To overcome these challenges, sharia insurance companies need to improve digital-based education, involve religious figures in socialization, and develop products that are more flexible and in accordance with the needs of various segments of society. With the right strategy, sharia insurance can be a more inclusive financial protection solution that is in accordance with sharia principles.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the practices of student-centered educational evaluation at State Junior High School 2 Dawuan. Educational evaluation is a crucial component of the learning process that not only measures final outcomes but also supports the comprehensive development of students' skills and understanding. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, data were collected through questionnaires from 20 teachers to understand their perspectives on evaluations that are responsive to students' needs. The research findings reveal that although most teachers recognize the importance of student-centered evaluation, its implementation in the field still faces various challenges. Approximately 50% of teachers report using diverse evaluation instruments, but only around 30% consistently apply diagnostic assessments. These findings indicate a gap between theory and practice in the implementation of educational evaluation at this junior high school. The study recommends the need for further teacher training and the development of educational policies that support the implementation of student-centered evaluation methods to improve learning quality.

Abstract

In today's world, it is still a widespread practice for employers to retain diplomas as a reassurance in job relationships across different industries. This occurs due to the absence of clear legal grounds within Indonesia’s labor law system. Fundamentally, this practice raises legal issues as it pertains to the right of ownership over personal documents and the potential violation of principles of worker protection as stipulated in Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower, Law No. 39 of 1999 on Human Rights, and the principle of contractual fairness. This research intends to investigate the occurrence of diploma retention practices in job relationships and to explore the types of legal safeguards that can be offered to employees. Using a normative-juridical approach and case study method, this article finds that withholding diplomas contradicts the principles of freedom to work and legal certainty, and potentially constitutes a form of indirect coercion that may be subject to civil and/or criminal litigation. The need for explicit regulation and stricter labor supervision is the primary recommendation to prevent similar practices in the future.
