Abstract

Rapid population growth in Surakarta, coupled with inadequate land availability, has resulted in crowded and uninhabitable settlements, which adversely affect sustainability and livability. This research examines the concept of livability which reflects the quality of life of residents influenced by the resilience of the environment in meeting physical and non-physical needs. Key comfort factors include economic, social, building quality, environmental, and infrastructure elements. This research focuses on the Mojosongo slum area, which has a high level of density and is close to the center of economic activity. Although the government has successfully reduced the number of slums from 18 to 6 slums in Mojosongo, further analysis of the factors influencing the improvement of slum quality is still needed. This research uses a deductive approach with descriptive quantitative research methods and factor analysis techniques, data collected from 84 respondents through proportional random sampling. The results showed that there are 3 factors that significantly influence the improvement of Mojosongo slum quality, namely basic environmental infrastructure factors, building legality status factors and socio-economic factors.

Abstract

The implementation of Geographic Information System (GIS)-based technology in urban spatial planning is increasingly important in supporting the management and proper decision-making. Effective spatial planning requires access to accurate and easily accessible spatial data. GeoNode is an open source platform for spatial data management and sharing, which can provide effective solutions in supporting digital-based spatial information systems. This study aims to develop and implement GeoNode as a supporting tool in spatial management in Balikpapan City. The methods used include spatial data collection, GeoNode infrastructure development, and integrating data from various sources. The results of the study indicate that GeoNode can improve efficiency in accessing, visualizing, and creating spatial data. GeoNode can be a reliable geoportal in providing real-time access to more inclusive spatial data. The application of GeoNode technology as a medium for sharing and disseminating spatial data can be a model for the development of spatial information systems in Balikpapan City.

Abstract

Abstract

Urbanization is an unavoidable phenomenon that continues to occur today. The process of urbanization in Indonesia has been ongoing since its independence and continues to this day. East Kalimantan Province is one of the main destinations for urbanization. This study aims to identify the dynamics of urbanization in East Kalimantan Province. Secondary data, such as population censuses and Google Earth imagery from 2020, 2010, and 2000, were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, and presented descriptively. The results of the study indicate that the level of urbanization in East Kalimantan varies significantly, with its peak reaching 100% in Balikpapan City and Bontang City, reflecting the disappearance of rural areas. The highest population concentrations were found in Samarinda City and Balikpapan City. This study is expected to serve as a basis for stakeholders in policy-making to harness the positive impacts of urbanization and minimize its significant negative impacts.

Abstract

In Surakarta City, there is a skybridge connecting Solo Balapan Station and Tirtonadi Bus Station, both of these transit stations plays a significant role in improving the efficiency and connectivity of the intermodal transportation system. However, the use of this facility is still low by an average daily user of only 100 people compared to transit station’s daily average of +18.000 users. This study aims to determine the urgency of the skybridge in supporting inter-regional interaction in the transit area. The analysis method used is the analysis of movement patterns and the gravity model to measure the value of inter-regional interaction. The results of the analysis show that the value of skybridge interaction with other areas is relatively low and there is no internal movement by transit area users. This indicates that the potential movement that may occur from the area around the transit area (skybridge) is low. based on the results of the analysis, the skybridge has no urgency in supporting the movement around the Solo Balapan transit area and Tirtonadi Terminal.

Abstract

The city of Gorontalo is often referred to as the City of Verandas of Medina. This name refers to the religious atmosphere that exists in the lives of the residents of Gorontalo City, the majority of whom are Muslim. The religious living conditions of the residents coincide with the presence of customs which have been preserved from generation to generation in the social structure of the community. As a center of growth, Gorontalo City is a barometer of the success of Gorontalo Province's development. Development always has negative impacts if it is not managed well. Therefore, an in-depth analysis is needed regarding the elements that form the city's image that must be maintained so that customs are not increasingly marginalized in narrow spaces where pragmatic interests meet. This research is a type of descriptive research using a mix method, namely qualitative and quantitative methods. Based on the results of in-depth interviews by experts regarding the elements of city image formation discussed in the first target, it can be seen that only 4 variable elements have an influence. The variables used are regional image elements, which consist of: Path, District, Node and Landmark. Meanwhile, landmark elements in physical appearance do not characterize Islamic icons, only based on history. So it can be concluded that overall the elements that form the image of the city of Gorontalo as the City of Serambi Medina have not yet been fully formed. This nickname better describes the life of the people of Gorontalo which is based on Islam, but has not been fully realized as an image of the city. Abstract

The wave of urbanization has driven the expansion of areas into suburban regions. Land pressure in suburban areas is not only experienced by metropolitan cities but also occurs in the outskirts of smaller towns. More than 2,400 towns with populations ranging from 1,500 to 5 million are generally categorized as small towns, with 60% of them located in developing regions and countries. The spatial transformation occurring in suburban areas is closely intertwined with the regional dynamics of their administrative capitals (Rantepao). The development patterns in Tallunglipu District exhibit ribbon development and leapfrog development. A synthesis of factors influencing peri-urban development reveals that the peri-urban development patterns in Tallunglipu District are shaped by several factors, including local government policies, physical territorial boundaries, the presence of road infrastructure, the availability of public service facilities, and supporting infrastructure for traditional customs. Identifying the development patterns and determining the driving factors of peri-urban areas in small towns can serve as a preventive and mitigative strategy to prevent development from exceeding the carrying capacity of these small towns.
