Abstract

The increasing use of smartphones to access social media among junior high school students can lead to conflict and loss of private data. The purpose of this digital literacy education is to provide and strengthen understanding of digital literacy education in social media. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, starting with the problem formulation stage, data collection stage, data analysis stage, and reporting stage. The data analysis results indicate that 100% of junior high school students use smartphones 4-6 hours per day, and 57% use more than 6 hours per day. Furthermore, an average of 100% have social media accounts, namely Instagram and Threads (33%). This demonstrates the need for junior high school students to be equipped with an understanding of digital literacy to improve critical thinking skills, protect them from cybercrime, and be able to analyze and verify the accuracy of news, thereby creating digital ethics in cyberspace and reducing the risk of conflict.

Abstract

The development of digital technology requires vocational high school students to have additional skills relevant to the needs of the creative industry, one of which is graphic design. This community service activity aimed to improve the skills of students at SMK PAB 8 Sampali, Department of Computer and Network Engineering, in creating graphic designs using Adobe Photoshop and applying them to creative printed products on hardcase media, such as wooden clocks, mugs, phone cases, and other merchandise products. The activity was carried out through training, demonstration, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation of participants’ works. The materials included an introduction to basic graphic design concepts, the use of Adobe Photoshop tools, layout arrangement, color selection, text application, image editing, and file preparation for printing or screen-printing processes. The results showed that participants were able to understand the basics of graphic design, use basic Adobe Photoshop features, and produce simple designs that could be applied to hardcase media. This activity also provided students with insight into creative business opportunities in design, digital printing, screen printing, and custom merchandise.

Abstract

Good family financial management is a crucial factor in improving household well-being. However, many people lack adequate financial literacy, often experiencing difficulty effectively managing income and expenses. This can lead to family economic instability, low savings rates, increased consumer behavior, and a lack of preparedness for urgent needs and future planning. This lack of understanding of financial management prevents people from optimally utilizing their income to improve their family's quality of life. This community service activity aims to provide education and guidance on family financial management to the community in Sari Rejo Village. The methods used in this activity include counseling, training, discussions, and direct assistance in preparing a simple and applicable household budget. The material provided covers financial planning, expense management, financial recording, controlling consumer spending, and the importance of simple savings and investments. The results of the activity indicate an increase in community understanding of the basic concepts of financial literacy and family financial management practices. Participants are beginning to be able to distinguish between needs and wants, allocate income more wisely, and prepare a family financial budget. In addition, there have been positive changes in financial behavior, such as the habit of saving regularly and recording daily expenses. This program is expected to improve household welfare and encourage sustainable financial independence in the community.

Abstract

The development of digital transformation in the field of education encourages schools to adopt technology that can improve the effectiveness of academic administration, particularly in the student attendance system. SMK PAB 8 Sampali Medan still faces several problems in the conventional attendance process such as delays in recording, potential manipulation of attendance, and suboptimal monitoring of student attendance data. This community service activity aims to implement a Smart Attendance System based on RFID and Face Recognition to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and security of the student attendance process. The implementation of the activity is carried out through stages of observing the school's needs, system design, installation of RFID devices and face recognition cameras, training teachers and school operators in using the system, and assistance in implementation. The results of the activity show that the implemented system is capable of accelerating the student attendance process in real-time, minimizing recording errors, improving student attendance discipline, and facilitating the school in monitoring and digitally summarizing attendance data. In addition, this activity also improves technology literacy for teachers and administrative staff in supporting the digital transformation of education within the school environment.

Abstract

Voluntary blood donation and food assistance programs are two critical pillars of community service that address healthcare and socioeconomic disparities simultaneously. This community service activity, conducted by Lions Club Medan Angkasa (District 307 A2) in collaboration with PMI Kota Medan, aimed to increase blood stock availability while alleviating food insecurity among underprivileged communities in Medan. The combined event — "Baksos Donor Darah dan Charity Pasar Murah Sembako" — was held at the AXA Trust Agency Office, Jl. S. Mahameru No. 6 BC, Medan. Activities included voluntary blood collection, a subsidized staple food (sembako) market, and free health screening. A total of 120 voluntary donors registered; 108 successfully completed blood donation (90% success rate), yielding 108 blood bags (340cc each). Simultaneously, 200 staple food packages were distributed at subsidized prices, and free health checks were provided to 175 participants. Participant satisfaction surveys indicated 93% very satisfied. Building upon the success of the previous blood donation drive (Anto et al., 2025), this initiative further demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated community-based health and social welfare programs organized by Lions Club Medan Angkasa.

Abstract

Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) constitute a cornerstone of Indonesia’s rural economic development strategy, yet inadequate financial reporting capacity among their managers continues to erode organizational accountability and governance credibility. This community service activity tackled that challenge through a three-phase participatory mentoring program involving 25 BUMDes managers from three villages in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra namely BUMDes Marsada Tahi, BUMDes Hutanamora, and BUMDes Saoloan. The intervention progressed sequentially through a needs-assessment Forum Group Discussion (FGD), a two-day intensive SAK EMKM-focused workshop, and four rounds of direct field mentoring. Effectiveness was measured using a one-group pre-test–post-test design and analyzed with a paired-samples t-test. Findings revealed a highly significant improvement in mean knowledge scores from 42.6 to 79.3 (an 86.2% gain; t = −18.42; p < 0.001; df = 24). At program conclusion, 88% of participants had independently produced SAK EMKM-compliant financial statements encompassing income statements and statements of financial position. Qualitative field observations confirmed a substantive shift from rudimentary cash-book recording toward disciplined double-entry bookkeeping practice. These results affirm the efficacy of structured, phased, practice-centered mentoring as a capacity-building strategy for rural economic entities and offer a transferable model for financial governance improvement across BUMDes in North Sumatra.

Abstract

Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) are strategic economic institutions. To support village economic independence, BUMDes operate in villages. However, most BUMDes still face big challenges in product marketing and financial record management, which are still done manually and use outdated methods. The purpose of this article is to explore how digital marketing systems and digital financial recording contribute to improving the performance and competitiveness of BUMDes. This study uses recent literature research (2020–2025) to analyze digital marketing strategies based on social media, websites, and e-commerce, as well as the implementation of digital-based Accounting Information Systems (AIS) for BUMDes financial recording.
