Abstract

This community service program was conducted at SMP Kristen 1 YPK Malang to enhance teachers’ and students’ skills in utilizing educational technology through game-based learning using Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT) and Canva. The initiative was motivated by the need to improve educators’ competencies in employing interactive applications to address student boredom and the monotonous learning process. The implementation method involved workshops combining interactive lectures, live demonstrations, independent practice, and project presentations. Participants created interactive quizzes, puzzles, and digital board games. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ skills in using hyperlinks, visual design, and creativity in developing game-based learning media. Technical challenges, such as limited internet access, were resolved through practical solutions. Overall, the program had a positive impact on participants’ motivation, engagement, and ability to integrate technology into learning activities. In the long term, these skills are expected to support teachers in designing more varied, interactive, and effective classroom learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of the ability to interpret and understand the contents of elementary school students' texts with the Deep Learning Model. The Deep Learning Model includes meaningful, mindful, and Joyful in the context of Education. The subjects assessed were grade 5B students at SDN 2 Cimerang. The methods used were interviews, observations, documentation and literature studies. The deep learning approach emphasizes critical learning, linking new information to existing knowledge, and its application in real contexts. The implementation of deep learning at the elementary and secondary levels ultimately has a positive impact on student learning outcomes. The results of the Deep Learning Model are expected to be used as an effort to improve the ability to interpret and understand the contents of elementary school students' readings.

Abstract

The Directorate General of Taxes has an annual work program called Domestic Tax Volunteers (RENJANI) aimed at increasing the contribution and involvement of third parties, namely tax centers. The UNIBI Tax Center has collaborated with the West Java I Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes for tax volunteer activities through students to provide assistance, outreach, and education related to taxation to enhance taxpayer compliance, with placements at the Pratama Tax Office in Sumedang. This activity uses a service learning approach combined with an individual approach, where 21 tax volunteers directly assist taxpayers on-site at KPP Pratama Sumedang in reporting the Annual Personal Income Tax Return using forms 1770 SS and 1770 S through e-filing. The results of the Community Service (PkM) activities show that taxpayers in the KPP Pratama Sumedang area are greatly helped and very supportive of the onsite assistance to help taxpayers in reporting the Annual Personal Income Tax Return forms 1770 SS & 1770 S using e-filing on the djponline website

Abstract

Rumah Anak Bahari in Merak Belantung Village, Kalianda District, South Lampung Regency, is a reading facility initiated by the Indonesian Navy through the Pesisir Village Renovation II program in March 2016. However, the infrastructure at the Rumah Anak Bahari has deteriorated and the books has become inadequate. Beside that, children's interest in reading is increasingly eroded by gadgets and less useful digital content. Therefore, the purpose of this activity is to revitalize Rumah Anak Bahari by revitalizing the existing facilities and infrastructure so that Rumah Anak Bahari can be used as a literacy center, creating a comfortable educational space for children and adolescents, reducing dependence on gadgets, increasing knowledge, and instilling a love of literacy. This activity began with coordination with village officials and the management of Rumah Anak Bahari, followed by the implementation of revitalization activities, such as repairing signs, repainting the building, arranging the reading room, and making seating. Final stage was the handover of books as additional literature. This revitalization not only focuses on physical improvements and the provision of quality book, but also as a safe and educational space for children and adolescents in Merak Belantung Village.

Abstract

This activity aims to enhance digital literacy and critical thinking skills among students of SMA Swasta Cinta Budaya Medan through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The program was implemented as a one-day training session covering basic AI concepts, interactive discussions on AI applications in learning, and hands-on practice with AI-based tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly. A total of 44 students from grades X to XII participated in the activity. Evaluation through pretest and posttest revealed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, with the average correct answers increasing from 68% to 85%. These results demonstrate that the training approach combining theory, discussion, and practical exercises effectively introduces AI to boost learning productivity and foster critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Sudden death due to cardiac arrest and respiratory failure frequently occurs in the community, including in public places and houses of worship. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a simple yet crucial initial action to preserve life before advanced medical care is available. This community service activity was part of the HKBP Gotilon Festival 2025, organized in collaboration between the HKBP Church Jl. Uskup Agung Sugiopranoto Medan, Medical Faculty of Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medical Faculty of Universitas HKBP Nommensen, and supported by the Indonesian Cardiovascular Specialist Association (PERKI) as experts. The program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the congregation of the HKBP Church in performing BLS. The methods included health education on the basic concepts of BLS, demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and hands-on practice using mannequins. The results showed an increase in participants understanding of emergency response steps as well as their ability to perform CPR correctly. This activity is expected to raise community awareness of the importance of BLS skills and to equip them with the capability to provide initial assistance in emergency situations.

Abstract

The increasingly complex development of the global economy requires every individual to have knowledge and skills in managing personal finances. Instilling financial literacy from an early age is crucial, particularly during adolescence when mindsets and habits are forming. In Indonesia, the level of financial literacy is still relatively low, especially among teenagers. Based on a survey by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in 2024, the level of financial literacy among the Indonesian people only reached 65.43%, far below that of developed countries, which reached 70–80%. SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi, as one of the upper secondary education institutions in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, has great potential to become a pioneer in developing financial literacy among teenagers. With more than 1,000 students coming from various socio-economic backgrounds, this school is an ideal place to instill and develop personal financial management skills. The service team conducted a needs survey directly with the principal of SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi, and the results of the discussion showed that students had not received financial literacy insights and there was no direction that educated them to have intelligence in financial management for their better future. The results of the service of SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi are that students understand financial management for adolescents through financial literacy.

Abstract

Purba Hinalang Village, Simalungun Regency, is a producer of chilies and tomatoes. However, in terms of welfare, these farmers are generally not economically prosperous. The problem is that horticultural products are perishable and their prices fluctuate in the market, so farmers often experience losses due to very low prices. . In addition to economic losses, rotting chilies and tomatoes in the field can also become a source of contamination for pests and plant diseases. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to provide solutions to farmers' challenges when harvests are abundant and prices are low. The solution offered is mentoring farmers, particularly housewives, in transferring technology for processing chilies and tomatoes into attractively packaged chili floss and tomato sauce, which adds value and boosts farmers' incomes, especially during abundant harvests and low prices. It also has a longer shelf life. Through mentoring and training farmers using a participatory approach within this Community Service Program (PKM), it is hoped that technology transfer will proceed smoothly and eventually produce home-based entrepreneurs who can increase family incomes and thus improve farmers' welfare.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of sentiment analysis software designed to evaluate students’ comments at SMKS Methodist 8 Medan concerning teaching and learning activities through a text mining approach. The software aims to support educational evaluation by automatically identifying the emotional tone and opinions expressed by students in their feedback. In this study, text mining techniques are employed to preprocess and analyze comment data collected from online learning platforms and school surveys. The preprocessing stages include tokenizing, stopword removal, and stemming to prepare clean textual data for analysis. Subsequently, the Naïve Bayes classification algorithm is implemented to categorize the comments into three sentiment classes: positive, negative, and neutral. The results of experimental testing demonstrate that the developed system can accurately identify sentiment tendencies with satisfactory precision and reliability. Moreover, the visualization of sentiment results enables educators to better understand students’ perceptions and engagement levels in the learning process. This research contributes to the field of educational technology by providing a data-driven tool that helps schools evaluate teaching effectiveness, identify areas of improvement, and enhance the overall quality of learning experiences through objective analysis of student feedback.

Abstract

Research on the prevention of sexual harassment in elementary schools requires a holistic approach involving all parties. A total of 25 elementary school students participated in this activity. Through material delivery, group discussions, and role-playing, participants were provided with a comprehensive understanding of various forms of sexual harassment, their impacts, and preventive and response measures. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and attitudes. Quantitative data analysis indicated a significant disparity between participants' pre-test and post-test scores (W=17.5; p=0.003), with the average post-test score exceeding the pre-test score. This finding indicates that after participating in the activity, participants' understanding of sexual harassment issues significantly improved. Further analysis of each item in the questionnaire revealed that the most significant difference occurred in questions regarding the types of sexual harassment (W=8; P<0.001). These results indicate that before participating in the activity, most participants were unaware that some of the behaviors they experienced or witnessed constituted sexual harassment. The program emphasized the importance of clear policies and procedures, education and training for teachers, school personnel, and students, and parental participation in prevention initiatives. Furthermore, the event emphasized the importance of creating a safe and inclusive school climate, as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluation of existing policies and programs. Collaboration with third parties was also deemed necessary to provide additional resources and support. By implementing these measures, elementary schools are expected to provide a safe and supportive environment for all children, build a healthy learning environment, and encourage overall child development. The strong collaboration with SD Kartini made this activity a success, and it is hoped that it can serve as a model for similar activities in the future.
