Abstract

The World Bank said that the Citarum River was the most polluted river in the world, which led to safety measures and practical solutions. At the same time, this problem opens up opportunities for ecotourism, but it depends on how involved the people of the Citarum River are. A study looks at the roles that people from Tarumajaya village played in the planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of Lake Cisanti ecotourism. The research is based on a case study of Tarumajaya village, Kertasari sub-district, Bandung Regency, and Lake Cisanti's location. Interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation studies are all ways to collect data. There are three kinds of participation: planning, putting things into action (like protecting the environment and doing other things), and evaluating. This study shows how community involvement could help clean up rivers, restore nature, and make ecotourism stronger. Contribution: The research emphasizes the critical roles that local residents play in all phases of ecotourism development—planning, implementation, and evaluation. This underscores the importance of community engagement in environmental management efforts.

Abstract

Nature school is an educational institution that implements a learning model by nature. This learning model combines exploration and theory to provide balanced skills. This study aims to analyze the efforts to improve student literacy and identify the obstacles faced in its implementation at Nature School (Sekolah Alam) of Bandung. This research specifically discusses the effectiveness of literacy activities in the learning model with nature. The research approach used is a qualitative approach with a case study type. The results show that literacy activities in the nature learning model help improve students reading and writing skills. Each level has different achievements, but with the same process, including reading literature to gain initial knowledge, exploration of the surrounding environment to broaden horizons, and application of the results of reading and exploration into writing. The obstacles in this process include differences in student abilities, where there are students who read quickly and slowly, as well as difficulties in communicating what has been read and vice versa. Contribution: This study highlights the innovative integration of nature-based learning with literacy development, demonstrating that engaging students in their environment can significantly enhance their reading and writing skills.

Abstract

Gadget addiction in children is a growing concern in the digital age, negatively impacting their physical, social, emotional, and academic development. Parents play a vital role in preventing this addiction by understanding their children's developmental needs and guiding them toward healthier activities. Engaging children in sports can effectively reduce gadget dependency, as studies indicate that excessive screen time decreases physical activity. Parental involvement is essential, particularly as mothers often take a more active role in their children's lives. This study utilizes parental guidance and a literature review to explore the importance of parental education in promoting balanced gadget use. Ultimately, the findings highlight that parents are crucial in shaping their children's personalities and fostering positive habits for healthy development. Contribution: The findings underscore the necessity for targeted interventions that empower parents, particularly mothers, to take an active role in shaping their children's behaviors and promoting a balanced lifestyle in an increasingly digital world.

Abstract

The values of peace education have consistently been implemented in public educational institutions and peace communities such as schools, Islamic boarding schools, and non-governmental peace organizations (NGOs) so that studies on the implementation of peace values in other educational institutions, such as pesantren-based schools, have become rare. This article seeks to fill this gap by examining the performance of peace values in Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, focusing on Peaceantren Welas Asih (PWA) of Garut, West Java. The qualitative research method collects observation data, interviews, and document reviews. This research found a process of implementing the values of peace in PWA using the 12 values of peace as a basis. This was then revealed in activities encouraging PWA students to become peacemakers. The program I Massage Card, Positive Discipline, and Peace Camp is part of PWA's efforts to instill peace values that have proven successful. In addition, cooperation between schools and parents of students helps these programs run successfully. This study concludes that developing pesantren-based schools is not only concerned with modernizing Islamic education. Still, the social-community role is far from that, especially the creation of human resources aware of peace. Contribution: The study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between schools and parents in reinforcing peace education efforts. This insight can guide other institutions in developing partnerships that support educational goals.

Abstract

Poverty has been a persistent problem in Indonesia since before its establishment as a nation, making it a complex and longstanding issue. Numerous studies have explored the causes of poverty and proposed solutions; however, the implementation of these solutions remains suboptimal. Urban poverty, exacerbated by the impact of development, is particularly evident in metropolitan cities, including Bandung. This contradicts the fundamental goal of development, which is to enhance community welfare. Bandung faces significant challenges with the presence of beggars and vagrants, despite the enactment of Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2019 concerning Public Order. The regulation's sanctions have proven ineffective, and current empowerment programs often prioritize material assistance over fostering community independence, leading to dependency. This study aims to identify the root causes of poverty in Bandung, evaluate existing government programs, and propose more effective strategies for empowering beggars and vagrants. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that key factors contributing to poverty include low education levels, inadequate skills, and lack of motivation. Government efforts in training and social rehabilitation are essential for reintegrating individuals into society and promoting self-reliance. The study concludes that addressing poverty and the challenges faced by beggars and vagrants in Bandung requires a comprehensive and integrated approach involving government policies and active community participation. This research contributes to the discourse on urban poverty alleviation by highlighting the importance of sustainable empowerment programs that focus on building independence rather than dependency

Abstract

This research investigates the role of influencers in political communication, particularly in the success of Prabowo-Gibran during the 2024 Presidential Election. The study addresses the increasing impact of social media personalities on political campaigns. Through qualitative analysis, it explores the strategies influencers use to influence public opinion and rally support for political figures. The results show that influencers serve as intermediaries, bridging the gap between the government and the public while also promoting greater public accountability. Additionally, their ability to engage audiences through relatable and emotionally charged content plays a significant role in shaping public views of candidates. This research underscores the evolving relationship between digital platforms and political processes, highlighting the importance of balancing popularity with expertise in governance. Contribution: The study also reveals the importance of relatable, emotionally charged content in shaping public perceptions of political candidates, underscoring the increasing significance of digital platforms in political processes and the need to balance popularity with expertise in governance.

Abstract

This article explores the dialogue between the philosophy of religion and science, focusing on the dialectics of faith and reason while questioning whether the two are inherently opposed or can be harmonized within a broader framework. Through a qualitative approach grounded in literature review, the study identifies historical harmony and contemporary challenges in integrating faith and reason, highlighting how religious philosophy—from Ancient Greece to Islamic thought—demonstrates their potential complementarity in understanding broader truths. In the modern era, this relationship gains heightened relevance in addressing ethical dilemmas posed by technological and scientific advancements, where religion serves as a moral compass to maintain balance. By incorporating the sociological perspective of religion, the article also examines how religion shapes social structures, norms, and policies, ultimately offering strategic insights into fostering interdisciplinary dialogue that unites intellectual, spiritual, and social traditions in contemporary society. Contribution: This article contributes to the philosophy of religion-science discourse by reframing faith and reason as complementary forces rather than antagonistic opposites. It synthesizes historical, ethical, and sociological perspectives to propose interdisciplinary dialogue as a pathway to addressing modern challenges.

Abstract

Interfaith encounters play a vital role in fostering social harmony and mutual understanding among religious communities, especially in diverse societies. This study examines the efforts of Santo Yakobus High School in Jakarta to promote interreligious dialogue through visits to Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Ciamis. The initiative involves Catholic and Muslim students engaging in meaningful interactions to overcome prejudice and build friendships. Recognizing the challenges posed by societal biases and misconceptions, the study highlights the importance of cultivating an attitude of openness as a foundational element for successful encounters. Using qualitative methods and an anthropological approach, the research identifies four key stages in the process of internalizing openness among Santo Yakobus students. These stages enable participants to develop insights, foster social connections, and establish interfaith friendships, offering a model for promoting peaceful coexistence and deeper understanding between religious communities. Contribution: The concept of openness is presented as essential for facilitating meaningful interactions. This framework not only addresses existing prejudices but also promotes a culture of understanding and respect between diverse religious communities.

Abstract

This research explores the potential of coffee shops as informal venues for religious mentoring in urban communities, focusing on Garut and Bandung regencies. As public spaces increasingly shape social interactions and personal identities, coffee shops have emerged as modern hubs for both socializing and spiritual engagement. The aim of this study is to investigate how these informal settings contribute to religious and cultural growth by offering a platform for meaningful discussions on spirituality. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, the study employs participant observation and semi-structured interviews to gather data from coffee shop patrons and owners involved in religious mentoring. The findings highlight that, beyond their role as social spaces, coffee shops can effectively foster religious dialogues, providing an accessible and relaxed environment for spiritual development. Mentors within these settings guide participants to integrate religious teachings into their daily lives, thus promoting a balanced lifestyle in a fast-paced urban context. This study offers insights into the evolving role of coffee shops in urban societies, suggesting that such spaces are not only conducive to casual interactions but can also serve as vital venues for spiritual engagement and growth. The research concludes that religious mentoring in coffee shops contributes to a more harmonious and spiritually enriched urban culture. Contribution: The insights gained from this study can inform future community-based spiritual initiatives, encouraging other urban areas to explore similar models. By leveraging the appeal of coffee culture, communities can create supportive environments for spiritual growth and cultural exchange.
