Abstract

Minor head injuries and sprains are two types of injuries that frequently occur in the home, especially among vulnerable age groups such as toddlers and the elderly. Lack of public knowledge regarding the initial treatment of these injuries can result in delayed medical intervention and increase the risk of complications. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to educate families on how to recognize, assess, and administer first aid for minor head injuries and sprains at home. The activity methods included interactive counseling, first aid simulations, discussions, and the distribution of educational media in the form of leaflets. The activity was conducted in Tamasaju Village, Takalar Regency, and involved 45 participants, consisting of parents of toddlers and family members caring for the elderly. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in independently managing minor injuries. This activity is expected to increase family preparedness and reduce the risk of adverse effects from untreated injuries.

Abstract

Anaphylactic shock is a medical emergency resulting from a severe systemic allergic reaction and can be fatal if not treated quickly and appropriately. In communities with a high history of allergies, family members' limited knowledge and skills in providing initial treatment are risk factors for increased fatalities in anaphylaxis cases. This community service activity aims to increase families' capacity to detect early signs of anaphylactic shock and provide first aid quickly and accurately before medical assistance arrives. The implementation method used an educational and practical approach, including interactive lectures, simulations of the use of epinephrine autoinjectors, and the distribution of written educational modules. Evaluation of training outcomes was conducted through pre- and post-tests, as well as direct observation during the simulation. Results showed significant improvements in family knowledge, skills, and preparedness in handling anaphylaxis incidents. The conclusion of this activity is that family-based training can improve community preparedness in reducing the risk of death from anaphylactic shock. It is recommended that similar training be implemented on an ongoing basis in high-risk areas.

Abstract

Environmental health is a crucial indicator of public health development, and the role of sanitation workers in community health centers (Puskesmas) is crucial in maintaining a healthy environment. However, environmental health program implementation remains challenging due to staff's limited understanding of program management aspects, such as planning, implementation, and evaluation. This Community Service Program (PKM) activity aims to improve the capacity of sanitation workers through environmental health program management training. This activity was held at Community Health Center X over two days, involving 20 sanitation workers from the community health center's work area. The training methods used included interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, and program development simulations. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests, as well as assessments of program development practices. The results of the activity demonstrated significant improvements in participants' knowledge and skills, particularly in designing annual activity plans based on data and local needs. This training strengthened the capacity of sanitation workers to manage environmental health programs systematically, participatory, and sustainably. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a training model that can be replicated in other community health centers to improve the quality of environmental health services.

Abstract

The Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) is a crucial component in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services in hospitals. However, limited understanding of SIMRS among administrative staff often hinders its optimal implementation. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of administrative staff at Hospital X through training and mentoring related to the use and management of SIMRS. The methods used included counseling, simulations, and pre- and post-test evaluations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills regarding SIMRS features. This activity is expected to improve the overall quality of documentation and hospital administration services.

Abstract

Private practice nurses and midwives have dual responsibilities, both as clinical service providers and as time and service managers in the facilities they manage. Limited managerial skills, particularly in time management and service quality, can impact the quality of healthcare services provided. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of private practice nurses and midwives in time management and excellent service delivery. The implementation method used was interactive education, simulations, and group discussions. Results showed an increase in participants' understanding of the principles of time efficiency, service flow, and effective communication. It is hoped that this activity will support the continuous improvement of service quality in private clinics.

Abstract

Adolescents are an age group vulnerable to mental health disorders due to psychological changes, academic pressures, and social issues. The surge in suicide cases among adolescents demonstrates the urgency of community-based interventions. Adolescent Integrated Health Posts (Posyandu Adolescents), as a community-based health service, can be an effective medium for mental health promotion and suicide prevention. This activity aims to increase adolescents' knowledge, skills, and awareness of the importance of mental health and recognizing early signs of psychological disorders. The implementation method used interactive training, simulations, and group discussions with Adolescent Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Adolescents) cadres. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of mental health and suicide prevention. This program is recommended for replication in various regions as a promotive and preventive measure.

Abstract

Village Alert Cadres are at the forefront of early detection and response to health problems at the village level. Cadres' limited understanding of epidemiology concepts and risk reporting has weakened the early warning system. The objective of this activity was to increase the capacity of cadres in health risk mapping and case reporting based on basic epidemiological principles. The activity was implemented through training, risk mapping simulations, and practice in preparing case reports. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in cadres' understanding and skills after the training. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a replicable training model in other areas to strengthen community-based health systems.

Abstract

Extraordinary Events (KLB) are a serious threat to public health that require rapid and appropriate response. The active role of the community is crucial in early detection and response to outbreaks, particularly through a community epidemiology approach. This article discusses the implementation of a community epidemiology-based community empowerment program in outbreak-prone areas. Implementation methods included education, cadre training, outbreak response simulations, and citizen-based monitoring. Results showed increased community knowledge, community preparedness, and a reduction in delays in case reporting. The conclusion of this activity is that the community epidemiology approach is effective in building a community-based early detection and rapid response system.

Abstract

Abnormal bleeding during pregnancy is a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, particularly in rural areas with limited access to health facilities. This outreach program aims to increase public knowledge and awareness, particularly of pregnant women and their families, regarding the types of bleeding during pregnancy, danger signs, first aid measures, and prevention of further complications. The program implemented an educational approach, interactive discussions, and the distribution of educational media to the community in Lembangloe Village, South Sulawesi. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of abnormal bleeding and increased family preparedness for pregnancy emergencies. This activity is expected to be the first step in reducing the number of pregnancy complications in remote areas.
