Abstract

Unwanted pregnancy among adolescent girls remains a significant public health issue with serious impacts on physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects. Limited knowledge of reproductive health, poor decision-making skills, and environmental influences are contributing factors to this problem. This Community Service Program aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of reproductive health among adolescent girls as an effort to prevent unwanted pregnancy. The program included a pre-test, interactive lectures, group discussions, educational video screenings, leaflet distribution, and a post-test for evaluation. It was conducted in July 2025 at SMA X, Kota Y, involving 50 adolescent girls as participants. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 56.2 to 75.9, representing a 35% improvement after the educational intervention. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, with 80% actively asking questions or sharing opinions. This program indicates that participatory-based reproductive health education can effectively improve adolescent girls’ knowledge and is expected to serve as a preventive measure to reduce the incidence of unwanted pregnancy among teenagers.

Abstract

Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that can cause death within minutes if not treated immediately. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a series of simple actions anyone can perform to maintain life until further medical attention is available. BLS knowledge and skills are essential for the general public to improve the survival rate of victims of cardiac arrest outside the hospital. This community service activity aims to improve the general public's ability to perform BLS. Implementation methods include interactive lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Forty residents from various backgrounds participated in the activity, held at Village Hall X in June 2025. Evaluation results showed an increase in participant knowledge from 20% in the good category in the pre-test to 90% in the post-test, and CPR practical skills improved, with 85% of participants able to perform BLS steps correctly. BLS training effectively increases community preparedness in managing cardiac arrest outside a health facility.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a rising incidence in Indonesia. One important effort in controlling diabetes is proper dietary management, yet many patients still do not understand the principles of a diabetes diet. This community service activity aims to improve patient knowledge about diet management through counseling at the Tamalate Community Health Center. The implementation method included material delivery, discussion, healthy menu simulations, and pre- and post-test evaluations. The activity was held on August 23, 2025, with 35 diabetes patients participating. The evaluation results showed an increase in participant knowledge after the counseling session, as well as a positive response to the method used. The daily menu simulation was considered very helpful in helping participants understand the implementation of a diabetes diet. It can be concluded that this counseling session effectively increased patient knowledge about diet management. Follow-up in the form of ongoing nutritional support is needed to support patient behavior changes in diabetes management.

Abstract

Education is a key factor in improving the quality of human resources. However, accessibility to education for underprivileged children still faces various barriers, both economic, social, and geographical. This community service activity aims to provide an alternative solution to increase educational accessibility through learning assistance programs, the provision of supporting facilities, and the empowerment of parents to support their children's education. The method used is a participatory approach, where the community is actively involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the activity. The results of the activity indicate an increase in children's learning motivation, the availability of simple learning resources, and increased parental awareness of the importance of education. This program is expected to become a sustainable model for increasing access to education for underprivileged children.

Abstract

Reproductive and sexual health are crucial aspects of achieving a healthy, productive, and prosperous quality of life. However, many rural communities still have limited knowledge about reproductive health, putting them at risk of problems such as unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and a lack of awareness of the importance of maintaining reproductive health. This community service activity was conducted in Bunde Village with the aim of increasing public understanding, particularly among adolescents and couples of childbearing age, about reproductive health and sexuality through a midwifery education approach. The methods used were interactive lectures, group discussions, and the distribution of educational media in the form of leaflets. The results of the activity showed a 70% increase in participants' knowledge after the education, as well as a positive change in attitudes toward maintaining reproductive health. This activity also successfully encouraged community participation to be more open in discussing reproductive health issues, which have previously been considered taboo. Midwifery education has proven effective as a means of community empowerment in increasing awareness and concern for reproductive health and sexuality.

Abstract

Background: Reproductive health and balanced nutrition are crucial for maintaining maternal health and fetal growth and development. Poor knowledge of nutritional patterns and reproductive health among pregnant women often leads to high rates of anemia, pregnancy complications, and stunting. The Bonehau Community Health Center (Puskesmas) is one of the areas with limited access to health information. Objective: This community service activity aims to empower pregnant women by increasing their knowledge and understanding of reproductive health and balanced nutrition. Methods: The activity was conducted in July 2025 in the Bonehau Community Health Center area, involving 40 pregnant women. The implementation method included a pre-test, reproductive health counseling, balanced nutrition education, interactive discussions, local nutrition menu simulations, and a post-test. Results: The average knowledge score of pregnant women increased from 58% (pre-test) to 87% (post-test). Most pregnant women expressed a commitment to regular antenatal checkups and adopting a balanced nutritional pattern. Conclusion: Education on reproductive health and balanced nutrition has proven effective in increasing the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women. This activity is expected to support the prevention of pregnancy complications and efforts to reduce stunting rates in the Bonehau Community Health Center's work area.
